Rolling Stones Drop New Video for “In the Stars” Single Ahead of Album Release, Uses AI To Insert Younger Selves Into New Performance

0

Everything old is young again.

In the video for their great new single, “In the Stars,” the Rolling Stones are suddenly their young selves performing the new song.

It’s AI, of course, because what isn’t? But this is kind of an inventive use of the horrible technology. At least we know the music is new, made by people in their 80s.

The video features recent Oscar nominee Odessa A’zion from “Marty Supreme.”

Ironic isn’t it? We’re excited about new music from the Stones and Paul McCartney because frankly music that’s being made now is so disappointing. Who else rocks like this from the contemporary generation? No one. (Video below)

Michael Jackson’s Nephew Says His Father and Jackson Brothers Were Told They Were “Worthless” Without Star

0

Taj Jackson is one of three sons of the late Tito Jackson, one of Michael’s older brothers.

On social media this morning, Taj answered a fan’s question bluntly about how the other brothers grew up with Michael as the star of family.

“imagine since you were a teenager being told by everyone you were worthless without your younger brother and you should thank him for everything you have,” Taj wrote.

It’s a jarring answer but for once the truth has been told. Tito — an accomplished a guitarist — Marlon, Jackie, and Jermaine were the original members of the jackson 5 along with Michael.

Almost instantly, Michael, the youngest, became the focus of the group. Even though the others played instruments and sang, they were ignored. Michael’s parallel solo career began in 1971 when he was just 13 years old. Despite Jermaine getting a singing part on the group’s hit “I’ll Be There,” he and the others were relegated to status of second class citizen.

Years later, Taj and his brothers formed the group 3T, which Michael encouraged. But Michael was cruel to his brothers when it came to their careers. He actively stopped Jermaine from having a Renaissance in the early 80s.

The real story of the Jackson 5 isn’t told in the “Michael” movie. In fact, none of the brothers has a speaking part or any kind of character development. They are just props. Now Taj, whose brother Tito was appointed co-guardian of Michael’s kids after the King of Pop’s death in 2009, is finally admitting the truth. It’s not pretty.

The sad part was that while the rest of the Jacksons — with the exception of Janet — failed to find careers outside the family, Tito was a working musician. But he died suddenly of a heart attack almost two years ago at age 70. His son is clearly resentful that Tito’s life was cut short. It obviously wasn’t easy to live in the shadow of Michael Jackson.

Sketchy Global Citizen Contributions Dropped by a Stunning 25% in 2024 as Public Has Caught On to Their Antics

EXCLUSIVE I just reported that Global Citizen, the sketchy humanitarian group, is putting together the half time show for the FIFA World Cup finale.

We don’t know how much they’re being paid, but a look at their latest tax filing — for 2024 — indicates they need the money.

After a run for years of taking in millions in funds for God knows what, Global Citizen finally hit a snag in 2024.

Contributions were down a stunning 25% from 2023. They fell from $56 million to $42 million.

Maybe sponsors and individuals are finally catching on: no one knows what this group does besides produce rock concerts.

According to the tax filing they’ve still got about a dozen top employees making high six figure salaries. The top earner remains CEO Hugh Evans, who was up to $612,000 in 2024. It’s likely a good deal more now.

Even though contributions were way down in 2024, salaries went up. Naturally.

Global Citizen doesn’t give much money away to needy causes. Despite raking in even that $42 million, they only disbursed $2.9 million in 2024. Salaries were a little more than $14 million.

FIFA doesn’t care. They’ve had their own scandals over the years. And fans don’t seem to care what any of this costs.

As for the musicians playing at the World Cup show, Chris Martin and Coldplay, and Shakira, have worked for Global Citizen in the past.

But Madonna, she’s another story. Even she’s not being paid directly, if she expects a big donation to either her Ray of Light Foundation or Raising Malawi, she better get it upfront and in cash!

Madonna Will Perform at FIFA World Cup Finale Halftime Show with Coldplay, Shakira, BTS

0

Madonna really wants to be relevant again.

She’s going to perform at the FIFA World Cup halftime show on July 19th in New Jsersey.

She’ll be joined by Coldplay, Shakira, and BTS.

Madonna, of course, is releasing a new album called “Confessions on the Dance Floor II.” She’s trying desperately to get in front of fans who will buy or stream her records. So far, her duet with Sabrina Carpenter hasn’t taken hold on the charts.

This seems to be a Global Citizen production. Global Citizen raises money for itself, puts on rock concerts, and pretends to have an interest in global poverty and hunger.

Britney Spears Goes to Dinner, Sits Next to Hollywood Journalist Jeff Sneider: “She Lit Up a Cigarette”

0

Jeff Sneider is known to all of us as the peripatetic King of Scoops in Hollywood. His Insneider Newsletter is a must read in Tinseltown.

This morning Jeff was musing about not having gone to the Cannes Film Festival this year.

But I bet he’s happy now. At dinner in an LA restaurant, the next table was occupied by none other than Britney Spears!

He Tweeted: “I am having dinner next to Britney Spears right now and it’s a WILD experience.”

Then followed up with: “She just left and everyone in the restaurant turned and started talking about it. An INSANE dining experience. One diner feared for her life. This is not a joke…”

Finally, he joked about selling her pleated wine list for five hundred dollars.

“Britney Spears did this to her menu. Now Selling for $500.”

Thriller: Paris Jackson Wins Major Court Case Against Michael Jackson’s Estate — They Must Return $625,000 from Payouts

0

Years ago, when she was a little girl, it was Paris Jackson who blew the whistle on her aunts and uncles when they kidnapped her grandmother.

So it’s no surprise that Paris, 28, Michael’s second oldest child, has now prevailed in her court case against her father’s estate.

The same judge, Mitchell Beckloff, approved Paris’s mother’s parental rights in 2009. Judge Beckloff has been weighing in on Michael’s estate for almost 20 years.

Today, he ruled that the Estate run by John Branca and John McClain must return to the heirs $625,000 in unauthorized fees. They also have to pay Paris’s legal bills.

Judge Beckloff acknowledged that the Estate had done a fine job making money for Michael’s heirs. But he’s now put in place a reporting schedule and rules about fees to anyone being approved in advance.

Paris is the first of Michael’s heirs to successfully question Branca and McClain’s decisions. This won’t be the last time she holds their feet to the fire. Paris has previously questioned other expenses incurred by the Estate including massive overruns for the current movie, “Michael,” which has turned out to be a hit. Back on March 30th, the Estate lawyers criticized Paris’s lack of understanding how the Estate was being run.

It was stressed in the judge’s decision that neither Branca nor McClain had benefited from the fees, which now must be returned.

“Paris has always been focused on what’s best for her family and this ruling is a massive win for them. After years of delay, the Jackson family will finally get the transparency and accountability measures Paris has fought for,” a spokesperson for Paris said in a statement. “The Jackson Estate is supposed to be a prudent, fiscally responsible entity that supports the Jackson family — not a slush fund to help John Branca live out his Hollywood mogul fantasies. After months of engaging in sexist, scorched-earth tactics against a beneficiary, it’s time for John Branca to acknowledge his many missteps and act in the best interest of the family he has a fiduciary duty to protect.”

The Estate’s response to the ruling:

“While the Court has previously approved several other bonuses to outside counsel over the years for their extraordinary services, and this was the first time they were the subject of objections, the Executors have always understood that legal fees are subject to court approval and have always required outside counsel to agree to return any funds to the estate if the payments were not approved. And, to be clear, none of the $625,000 in bonuses — which represent only a small fraction of the Estate’s expenses for the period in question — were paid to the Executors, and the court did not in any way say that the Executors had made any inappropriate payments to themselves. Ultimately, while we disagree with the decision, we fully respect it and plan to move forward accordingly.”

Vanity Fair Cannes Not: Annual Party Shrunk, Moved from Famed Hotel Du Cap to Outskirts of Town at Revived Franchise

Just as the current Russian Tea Room in New York is not the actual place it once was, something similar has happened in Cannes.

Tetou was a legendary restaurant on the beach in Golfe Juan, the seaside part of Antibes. For decades celebrities camped out there to pay — in cash only — $186 apiece for a bowl of bouillabaisse. Paparazzi surrounded the entrance and exit. If you could get in at all, it was a memorable experience.

Alas, Tetou was demolished a few years ago when the town demanded their beach rights back. In an instant, it was gone, along with the vaunted history. It was the equivalent of the end of New York spots like the RTR, 21 Club, Le Cirque, and the Four Seasons.

But now a French chain has licensed the name and is attempting to revive the glamour. But not in Antibes. Instead, the new Tetou is on the fringes of Cannes, sort of if Le Cirque were reimagined but in Canarsie.

The pop up will be the home of the new extremely diminished Vanity Fair Cannes party this Saturday. No more Hotel du Cap Eden Roc for the flailing Conde Nast publication. It would be like if Vogue moved the Met Gala to the home of the actual Mets, at CitiField.

How the mighty have fallen! The likelihood is that guests will have their drivers wait while they take red carpet photos, then go off to more desirable locations. And what guests will those be, anyway? Cannes is so desperate for American stars they’re welcoming Vin Diesel and John Travolta. Not exactly the days of Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, and forget about Sophia Loren and Catherine Deneuve!

Oh well, as they say, The party is over.

As for the new Tetou, the company that bought it is talking about an “international expansion.” You know what that means — locations in Las Vegas and in Hudson Yards.

PS The Hotel du Cap, one of the world’s greatest locations, is still hosting one major party. Next Tuesday, the famed former editor of Vanity Fair, Graydon Carter, is welcoming the stars with CAA agent Bryan Lourd, and Dario Amodei, head of AI giant Anthropic. I’m hearing that’s the hot ticket.

Swatch Gives One of Its New Audemars Piguet Pendant Watches An Unfortunate and Kinda Racist Name If Read in English

0

There are plenty of watches in the world that have black dials.

A lot of them have brand names that use the word ‘black’ or ‘noir.’

Now only one that I can find uses “negro.”

Ocho Negro is the name of one of the new pendant watches announced in a collaboration with Audemars Piguet.

There are 8 in the collection, each retailing for $400. They all have clever names. There’s Huit Blanc, Otto Rosso, OTG Roz, Orenji Hatchi — which could mean Orange Eight, or former Senator Orrin Hatch — and so on.

But Ocho Negro? Um, I don’t know what the means in Swiss. In Spanish, it means Black Eight. Which would have been fine. But in English? “Which watch did you get? The Negro?”

Not in 2026. Or really, any year.

Is anyone still in charge of product development? I may return to Timex.

Broadway: “Chicago” Box Office Drops by $1 Million, “Beaches” and “Six” Dire, “Stranger Things” Struggles, “Mormon” Disappears

0

The news from Broadway is not that great from this past week.

“Chicago” fell back to Earth, dropping by $1 million after the departure of its reality stars.

With Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas on stage, “Chicago” had its biggest receipts ever after three decades.

But the pair is gone, and so is the money. The musical played at 64% capacity last week.

That news is bright, however, compared to some others. The new musical, “Beaches,” is dead. Without any Tony nominations, “Beaches” — based on the movie — is kicking sand. It played to 51% capacity last week, with just $475K. Watch for notices.

Also, collapsing: “Six.” Playing to 55% capacity, the jukebox show about the wives of Henry the 8th brought in just $450,000 last week. Shows have been guillotined for less. They’ve had a good run, but it may be time to say Goodbye.

“Stranger Things” The First Shadow” is also struggling at just 66%. The play has never taken off like the TV show, oddly enough.

Meanwhile, “The Book of Mormon” has been dropped from the box office standings. A fire at the Eugene O’Neill has shut the musical down until at least this weekend. Let’s hope they can get back up and running by next week.

Conan O’Brien Returns to 2027 Academy Awards as Host for Third Time After Successful Stints This Year and Last

ABC has announced that Conan O’Brien will be back next March as host of the Oscars.

This will be Conan’s third year in a row keeping the Academy Awards on track.

Next March’s show will be the 99th anniversary of the Academy Awards. They’ll have one more year on ABC after that before heading to YouTube.

The show will again be produced by Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan, with Conan’s own producers Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney.

“We are thrilled to be working again with Conan, Raj, Katy, Jeff and Mike for the 99th Oscars,” said Academy chiefs Bill Kramer and Lynette Howell Taylor. “They are an incredible team and have produced such captivating, entertaining and heartfelt shows over the last two years. We are so grateful for their ongoing partnership as we honor our global film community — and we look forward to Conan superbly leading the celebration with his brilliance and humor.”

Interesting note: ABC has already secured Conan for the March 2027, but no news about the Grammys, which come a month earlier. It’s the first year the Grammys will be on the network after decades on CBS.
