Paul Simon, Elvis Costello, Nile Rodgers, Mary J Blige, Hozier, Jon Batiste Headline 10th Anniversary “Love Rocks”

Believe it or not, we are at the 10th anniversary of Love Rocks.

This is the annual monster show put on to raise money for God’s Love We Deliver. This year’s show is set for March 3rd at the Beacon Theater.

Producers Greg Williamson, Nicole Rechter and John Varvatos have assembled an amazing talent roster that includes Paul Simon, Elvis Costello, Mary J. Blige, Billy F Gibbons, Goo Goo Dolls, Hozier, Jon Batiste, Linda Perry, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Susanna Hoffs, Trombone Shorty, and Warren Haynes.

If that’s not enough, JB Smoove, Jeff Ross, Julianne Moore, Paul Shaffer, Whoopi Goldberg, and Zarna Garg will make appearances on stage.

Usually Bill Murray comes, too, so we’ll see if he’s a surprise guest.

Bloomberg Philanthropies underwrites the night.

During the Super Bowl tonight we got a look at two hot movies for 2026.

One is Steven Spielberg’s “Disclosure Day,” about aliens really having been here a long time. (I believe they have, and they’re the reason for MAGA.) It’s coming from Universal on June 12th with Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor.

Also David Fincher’s “Cliff Booth” movie about the Brad Pitt character from “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” This one is from Netflix, which had better give it a big theatrical release. I’m curious about this film although not sure I understand why they made it.

Matt Damon Was Very Absent from Ben Affleck’s “Good Will Hunting” Dunkin’ Ad Featuring Stars Like Ted Danson, Jason Alexander

Ben Affleck’s new Dunkin’ ad has a lot of stars.

Jason Alexander, Ted Danson, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Alfonso Ribeiro, Jasmine Guy, and Jaleel White are all featured in the send up of “Good Will Hunting.”

But who’s not there? Matt Damon. And it’s pretty glaring.

Damon and Affleck won their Oscar for writing the “Good Will Hunting” screenplay in 1998. The movie is a classic and should not have been diminished in this way. Apparently, Damon agreed.

The whole Dunkin’ thing with Affleck has worn out its welcome. Affleck won a Best Picture Oscar for “Argo.” He’s played Batman, a lot. No matter how much Dunkin’ offers, it’s enough already.

Damon understood that, I think.

Bad Bunny aka Benito Ocasio showed his enormous heart, and understanding of his audience. The whole thing was in Spanish except for “God Bless America!”

One important note: you can set Lady Gaga down in any setting she’s a winner. She was absolutely captivating.

Poor Donald Trump.

The hopeless racist hated Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl half time show today.

He took right to Truth Social to criticize all of it because it was in Spanish, the second most foreign language to him after English.

You have to laugh when you read his central observation: “Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World. This “Show” is just a “slap in the face” to our Country…

So no one understands Spanish, anywhere? F him. What an ignoramus. Moron. He has no understanding of the world, of arts or culture, and can’t recognize the enormous heart that went into that production.

This is right after Trump posted his racist monkey video about the Obamas. He’s also disinvited the only Black governor in the country from a meeting of colleagues in Washington. He hates brown people. I hope they get it now.

Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance tonight in the NFL half time show.

She sang and danced with Bad Bunny, who put on one of the best produced shows ever.

When Bunny and Gaga took the stage, YouTube viewers turned to the NFL show in droves. Numbers immediately fell by 400,000 or more…Biggest problem for Kid Rock is that his show started too early — without him — and then went on past the time the Seattle-New England game continued after half time…

Then Ricky Martin made an appearance, as Puerto Rico’s biggest star.

During Bad Bunny’s show, the Kid Rock special dipped to 4.3 million, suddenly zoomed to 6 million, and then fell quickly…

Bad Bunny’s show was a total success, A plus, four stars…At the end, he said his only words in English “God bless America!”

Super Bowl 60 had a great musical kick off.

Green Day, Coco Jones, Brandi Carlile, and Charlie Puth were all top notch as they opened the game with their respective songs.

Green Day stuck it to MAGA singing the song that most identifies them, “American Idiot.”

Bad Bunny is next.

Meantime, Kid Rock’s redneck America show has begun on YouTube with 5 million viewers…but hold on as that number will change…the Turning Point USA show has started ten minutes before the official NFL half time show…

Guthrie Kidnapping: Pima County Sheriff Ignores Family Ransom Announcement, Says Still No Suspects, or Even ID’d Vehicles

The Pima County Sheriff is not exactly backing up Savannah Guthrie and her siblings.

The sheriff’s office has issued a new statement that tactfully ignores the video put up by the Guthrie’s last night saying they will pay the ransom for their mother, Nancy.

Sheriff Nano’s statement:

“The Nancy Guthrie investigation is ongoing. Follow-up continues at multiple locations. No suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified. No scheduled press briefings. If any significant developments occur in the case, a press conference will be called.”

Where this leaves things is anyone’s guess. The Guthrie’s are desperate, and they can’t be blamed.

“Melania” Movie Crashes 67% from Last Weekend After Adding 225 Theaters, No Slovenia Release, Party’s Over for Panned Film

The party is over for “Melania.”

Even the Republican one.

The critically demolished infomercial fell 67% this week at the box office.

Total take is $13.3 million in the US. International totals are really embarrassing, coming to $126,392. The movie, as it were, hasn’t opened in Slovenia, where the former Melanie Knaavss is from, or in popular Trump locales like China or Russia.

You’d think today, Super Bowl Sunday, would draw women to the theaters, but it’s the lowest of the three days this weekend.

That “Melania” has made $13 million based on legit attendance is laughable. Seating maps show empty theaters everywhere, even in red states. Maybe Trump should appoint one of his special prosecutors to audit the box office!

The whole thing would be hilarious if it weren’t so sad.

Just wait til “The Razzies” at the end of the year!

Oscar Buzz: Paul Thomas Anderson Picks Up Best Director from Directors Guild of America for “One Battle After Another”

This should come as no surprise.

Paul Thomas Anderson has been named Best Director for “One Battle After Another” by the Directors Guild of America,

PTA and the film are headed to the Oscars as odds-on favorites.

Anderson beat Guillermo del Toro, Chloe Zhao, Ryan Coogler, and Josh Sadfie in the final vote.

We’ve sort of known since it was screened the day before the New York Film Festival that “One Battle” and PTA would be winning all the awards. It’s 90 for the film and 10% for the director who’s not won before despite a sterling resume of films from “Boogie Nights” through “Licorice Pizza.”

Michael Apted First-Time Theatrical Feature Film went to Charlie Polinger for “The Plague.”

Mstyslav Chernov won Best Documentary for “2000 Meters to Andriivka.”

Among the TV prizes was Best Movie, “Nonnas,” by Stephen Chbosky. This is a sweet film on Netflix that’s worth catching up on for its ensemble acting.

Other TV prizes went to “The Pitt,” “Saturday Night Live,” “The Studio” and “Dying for Sex.” Rebecca Miller won Best Documentary Series for “Mr. Scorsese: All This Filming Isn’t Healthy.”

The fact that around 300 feature films are eligible each year for the top prizes, and five get nominated is really what matters. The top five are the best of the best. Congrats to all!
