Trump’s 17 Year Old Granddaughter Says “Elon” Gave Her a Souped Up $100K Cyber Truck, Shows Off Speed in Video

0

Kai Trump, 17 year old granddaughter of Donald Trump, is livin’ large.

Kai shows off in a new video while she’s speeding up in her new $100K plus Tesla Cybertruck.

Where did she get it? “Elon [Musk] gave it to me.”

Since no one seems to care anymore about conflicts of interest, inappropriate gift giving, or protocol, this is so cool. This is what Tony Soprano would have done for one of his friends’ peach fuzz daughters.

It’s kind of nice to know that Kai, like all Trumps, has no value system. She will know privilege and extreme wealth while thousands of people lose their jobs or are illegally deported. I think it’s great!

Kai will have fun, fun, fun til Daddy doesn’t take the car away. Musk has probably given all the Trumps different Teslas, which is reason enough to sell yours now.

Hideous people.

“Grey’s Anatomy” Had Ratings Low Last Week, Bounced Back Last Night After Ellen Pompeo’s Arrogant Press Tour

0

On a podcast this week, “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo said — I’m paraphrasing — that she’d made a lot of money over the last 20 years. She also conceded that she drove Patrick Dempsey off the show because she wasn’t paid an equal amount to him.

Pompeo is nasty about Dempsey, saying he’d made 13 pilots before “Grey’s.” none of which was picked up.

The truth is, Dempsey had had a long career and was much better known in 2005 than Pompeo.

The crazy podcast interview was intended to promote her new Hulu show, which looks cheap and awful. I don’t know if it was done to help “Grey’s,” now heading to the chopping block after 21 seasons.

Last week, “Greys” dropped to an all time low — just 1,956,000 viewers. That was down 12.8% in total viewers, and 24% in the key demo.

Last night, the series bounced back a bit to 2.4 million fans.

It could be the podcast piqued interest in the dead on the vine series. Pompeo is unbearably arrogant, crowing about how much money she makes ($20 million a year), cursing like a sailor. She must be a thrill and a half to work with at this point. Hollywood has created a monster.

She actually said in her Hollywood Reporter interview this week: Can you be good 14 years later? Now, that’s a fuckin’ skill.

She is really crude in that interview and extremely unpleasant about actually talented, Oscar winning actresses: “I mean, Faye Dunaway is driving a fuckin’ Prius today. Now, there’s nothing wrong with a Prius, but my point is, she had no financial power.”

Pompeo was mad that Dempsey wouldn’t negotiate salary with her as a team. She really resented him to the point his character was mercilessly killed off. She reflects on his not helping her get more money:
“It’s my show; I’m the number one. I’m sure I felt what a lot of these other actresses feel: Why should I walk away from a great part because of a guy? You feel conflicted but then you figure, “I’m not going to let a guy drive me out of my own house.”

The interview is hilariously hubristic. Pompeo is a piece of work. Here’s a good moment:

What does it look like when he leaves the show? First, it looks like a ratings spike, and I had a nice chuckle about that. But the truth is, the ink wasn’t even dry on his exit papers before they rushed in a new guy. I was on vacation in Sicily, decompressing — it was a long working relationship and it was a tumultuous end and I needed a moment to just chill with some rosé — and they’re calling me, going, “What do you think of this guy?” “What do you think of this guy?” And they’re sending pictures. I was like, “Are you people fucking nuts? Why do you feel that you have to replace this person?” I couldn’t believe how fast the studio and the network felt like they had to get a penis in there.

Think of the very people who Pompeo tramped along the way. No just Dempsey, but Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, and so on. As fan favorite characters were killed off, sent away, dropped like bags of rocks into the ocean of unemployment, Pompeo just cackled. She’d won!

I watched the first season of “Greys” because I was stuck in a hotel room in Santa Maria, California covering Michael Jackson’s trial in 2005. Pompeo doesn’t seem to realize this is all luck for her. She’s not a great actress. Being the “Grey” in the title was a fluke. She says in the Hollywood Report that she was going to have a big movie career before the show took her off the market.

She actually claims that after appearing in the 2002 movie “Moonlight Mile,” a bomb financially and critically: “Sam Mendes, Steven Spielberg, Warren Beatty,” she rattles off the names. “They were all, ‘We were blown away by this performance’ and ‘You’re a superstar.’”

As we might say in Yiddish, Pompeo is a shanda. (Not a Shonda.)

“Magazine Dreams” or Nightmares? Jonathan Majors’ Canceled Film Released with an 81% Rating Despite Limited Appeal

0

Maybe gym freaks will love “Magazine Dreams.”

The Jonathan Majors drama which was dropped by Searchlight last year is in 815 theaters today.

Majors was canceled after he was arrested for domestic abuse a week after the 2023 Oscars. Disney’s Searchlight had picked up the movie a couple of months earlier. If it hadn’t been for the arrest, Majors and the movie would have had an Oscar push.

Majors’ arrest was such a scandal he lost all his jobs including a huge one — playing the chief villain in the next “Avengers” series from Marvel, which — like Searchlight — is part of Disney.

Once Majors was found guilty on two misdemeanor charges in a domestic violence case — assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree — there was no going back to Disney. It didn’t matter that the jury found Majors not guilty of intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree. Or that he skipped jail time.

Searchlight shelved “Magazine Dreams.” never to be seen again. The movie languished until it was moved to Briarcliff, recent home of “The Apprentice.”

Briarcliff’s Tom Ortenberg told the WSJ he paid nothing for it, just had to cover marketing and distribution expenses. The price tag is a low $2 million.

Rotten Tomatoes has “Magazine Dreams” at 81%, higher than I might have thought. I watched it via the virtual Sundance portal in January 2023, before the arrest. I really didn’t link it. It’s a grim movie about a wannabe weightlifter who keeps juicing up, hoping to became a star of fitness magazines.

I can’t imagine the appeal for theaters unless, again, everyone from Gold’s Gym goes to see it. (Do they go to theaters? Can they eat candy?) It should be a perfect streaming movie, something you choose late at night and fall asleep to.

What will happen to Majors? Despite his 50/50 conviction, his career is stopped. The promise of becoming a highly paid famous and beloved actor is quashed because of the incident, which is too bad. He was convicted by the public before a jury ever got to him. Can he ever recover? I met Majors at the 2023 Oscars the week before the assault and he seemed like a nice guy. It remains to be seen what happens to him next.

Apple Chief Tim Cook Says “Severance” Renewed for Season 3, The Lumon Staff will Be Back

0

Tim Cook says “Severance” will return for season 3.

The post-modern Apple drama directed by Ben Stiller is quite the hit for Apple TV Plus. (Not as good for actress Joan Severance, who’d probably like to join the show.)

As a streaming show, “Severance” is a cult hit. No one knows what the actual numbers are, but the ratings must be good enough for Cook to renew it.

Adam Scott leads a stellar cast including breakout star Britt Lower, plus Patricia Arquette, Zach Cherry, Christopher Walken, John Turturro, and Yul Vasquez.

The Season 2 finale ended with a lot of questions and enough cliffhangers to propel the series forward.

Apple TV has generated some hits with strong followings including “Shrinking,” “The Studio,” and “Slow Horses.” But a lot of their shows have not done so well, so “Severance” — their biggest hit — is important to keep going.

Here’s a good analysis of Apple TV.

Review: Madcap, Genius “Operation Mincemeat” Storms Broadway with A List Opening Night Including Samuel L. Jackson, Jesse Eisenberg

0

We really owe a big thank you to the Brits for helping with World War II and with Broadway.

Last night the West End hit, “Operation Mincemeat” opened here and took the stage by storm. Celebs like Jesse Eisenberg, Samuel L. Jackson, Lorna Luft, “Othello” director Kenny Leon, and Kate Capshaw were in attendance. (Kate’s husband, Steven Spielberg, has already seen the show.)

Funny? Genius? Trenchant? Just a few of the words to describe what will be a massive Tony nominee and winner in many categories this coming June.

“Operation Mincemeat’ is a musical comedy about this real life story — the Brits came up with an idea to distract Hitler from invading Sicily by faking them out and luring them to nearby Sardinia.

Like a lot of great musicals, the subject matter doesn’t seem conducive to madcap singing and dancing. But a half dozen theater pals in London wrote and act in this crazy in a small theater outside London. They were discovered, jumped to the West End, and are here now for a blitz.

By the way the five people on stage play a total of 87 different characters. When the show started last night, I was thinking ‘this is a big cast.’ And then I counted — just five, two men and three women played males, females, British and American.

The five are David Cumming, Claire-Marie Hall, Natasha Hodgson, Jake Malone, and Zoe Roberts. None of them look anything like their exaggerated bumbling characters, and all of them will get Tony noms. Malone already won the Olivier prize for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical.

All of them contributed to the writing of the show along with Felix Hagan, who is not on stage. They wrote the book and the songs, which run from very clever to extremely moving. While Hodgson and Cummings are the so-called leads, the three supporting players are their equals in every way. At one point, Malone brings down the house with “Dear Bill,” a gorgeous ballad dedicated to the fake soldier who’s been dropped in the ocean in Spain to throw off the Germans. The song gets a standing ovation in the middle of the show!

Like Broadway’s other gem of this season, “Maybe Happy Ending,” “Operation Mincemeat” is one of the few shows of recent memory with such distinctive songs that you’ll actually remember them. Looking at their titles in the Playbill, each one immediately pops out.

Eventually in Act Two, the Brits accomplish their mission, the Germans are wiped out in Sardinia, and our gang of five has nothing left to do but celebrate. What else is left for this cast to do but put on a spectacular ending that pulls out all the stops. The ending is like “42nd St” unplugged. It’s quite an achievement.

The invitation for last night instructed us to wear “white tie” or a Naval uniform. Many dozens of Brits and even American showed up that way, mostly with rented costumes. The audience was almost as hilarious as the cast on stage. At intermission at the bar, the people toasting each other with Champagne looked like they were in a black and white TCM movie about the War!

Disney’s Live Action “Snow White” a Bust with $25 Mil Weekend on $250 Mil Budget, Bad Reviews

0

Somehow everything has gone wrong with Disney’s live action “Show White.”

Already plagued by scandals, the $250 musical is a financial flop. Previews last night came in at $3.5 million. That’s an expected $25 million weekend.

Good night and good luck.

Critics weren’t thrilled about this updated version of the classic tale starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. “Snow White” has a 46% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

So many experienced, talented people combined to make this mistake. Marc Webb, a successful commercial director didn’t get it. The writers are Erin Cressida Wilson and Greta Gerwig. Marc Platt is the producer.

How did it all fall apart?

Many ways: star Zegler has become strident and annoying speaking out on several subjects. She has a tremendous voice and lots of appeal, but no filter.

It doesn’t help that she and Gadot are at odds politically. Zegler is pro-Palestinian. Gadot is Israeli.

The screenplay is being blamed for trying to make it too modern. On the other hand, critics like actor Peter Dinklage are upset (rightly so) with the treatment of the seven dwarfs.

The music — from Pasek and Paul — appears to be a rare strike out.

Disney has had so many complaints in such a variety of directions they had to scale back their premiere.

RIP Two Actors Who Played Same Role on “Young and the Restless” Die Within 3 Weeks of Each Other

Sad news today.

Wings Hauser, famed cult actor and star of dozens of B movies, has died at age 77.

Hauser got his start on the soap opera “The Young the Restless” in the late 70s.

Coincidentally, James Houghton, the actor played the role Hauser picked up on “The Young and the Restless,” died on February 28th. He was 75.

Hauser was also the father of Cole Hauser, who followed in his father’s footsteps as an action star of generally B movies.

The elder Hauser has about 75 credits on the imdb.com just between 1970 and 2010.

In 1989, Hauser was nominated for an Indie Spirit Award for best supporting actor in “Tough Guys Don’t Dance.” Some other highlights include “The Insider,” “China Beach,” and a long list of primetime TV. He stopped acting in 2019.

Houghton, who created the role of Greg Foster on the soap back in 1973, went on to become a writer on the show — where he won Emmys — and part of the original cast of “Knots Landing.”

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Art Advisor Latest in Long Line Who’ve Ripped Him Off Or Gone to Prison

0

Leonardo Di Caprio is a great actor but maybe a poor judge of character.

Today, Lisa Schiff, his art advisor — for him and his foundation — was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for fraud.

Leo doesn’t learn his lesson.

In 2000, Dana Giacchetto — his best friend and investment counselor — went to prison for running a Ponzi scheme. He bilked his clients — including CAA’s Mike Ovitz, Tobey Maguire, the group Phish, and many others — to the tune of $14 million. (Many years later, Giacchetto committed suicide.)

In 2013, New York art dealer Helly Nahmad — still Leo’s pal — went to prison in a gambling scheme that was portrayed in the Jessica Chastain movie, “Molly’s Game.” He pleaded guilty to one federal count of operating an illegal sports gambling business. He was released after four months of a 12-month sentence.

And let’s not forget DiCaprio’s involvement in the 1MDB Malaysian finance scandal that involved ripping off public funds to back movies. Here’s a taste of that story.

Also, we still have no accounting or reporting for Leonardo’s charitable foundation. All the transactions are kept secret because the LDF’s records are hidden within a larger charity canvas.

The ironic thing here is that Leo has been in so many gangster movies, or films about criminals. He doesn’t seem to get it!

If Lisa Schiff is lucky, Leo will visit her with a screwdriver baked into a cake!

amFAR: Assets, Revenue Are Down, Salaries Are Up, Cost of Cannes Party $5.2 Million

0

amFAR and the Met Gala are the two screwiest charities of all time. They’re staged for ego, and there’s a lot of it.

amFAR just announced Duran Duran as the musical guest for Cannes this year, and Taraji P. Henson as host.

Do any of them know what goes on with amFAR? I’ve been writing about it for 20 years.

Their latest tax filing shows assets and revenue are down, salaries are up. The cost of the 2023 Cannes event was $5.2 million. CEO Kevin Frost’s salary was a little over $600,000.

And still they come, whoever’s in Cannes by the second Thursday of the festival. Eurotrash loves a good amFAR. They don’t care where the money goes.
