Impetuous Kids Pamela Anderson (52), Producer Jon Peters (74) Fail to Get FTC Approval, Call off Marriage After 12 Days

0

And they said it wouldn’t last!

Model, celebrity, PETA spokesperson, Julian Assange groupie Pamela Anderson and movie producer/former hairdresser Jon Peters have called off their marriage after 12 days. Their union was not approved by the FTC, FDA, PETA, or The Sleep Foundation.

These impetuous kids — he’s 74, she’s 52 — “would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to re-evaluate what we want from life and from one another.”

The full Anderson statement: “I have been moved by the warm reception to Jon and my union,” Anderson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to re-evaluate what we want from life and from one another. Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalization of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process. Thank you for respecting our privacy.”

On her Instagram page, philosopher Anderson quotes Federico Fellini: “Don’t tell me what I’m doing; I don’t want to know.”

Is it the pre-nup? I would say Yes. Peters has a fortune thanks to his movie rights to franchises like “Superman” and “Batman.” Also, Pamela probably wanted to star in the sequel to “Flashdance.”

That, and a negotiation over where Julian Assange will live after he’s released from prison. Pam said he could stay in the main house, Jon recommended a walk up in Fresno.

Meantime, the government is crumbling, the UK isn’t OK, the climate is all screwed up, and we still don’t have a CEO for the Grammys or MusiCares.

Paramount Pictures, Lacking a $100 Mil Movie in 2019, Waits for Another “Mission Impossible” Movie as 1st Two Releases of 2020 Fail

0

It’s not an easy time for Paramount Pictures.

This weekend, “The Rhythm Section,” a thriller starring Blake Lively and Jude Law, is DOA at the box office. Without keeping any beat, it made just $1.1 million last night. That’s a $3 million weekend if they’re lucky.

“The Rhythm Section” is Paramount’s second bomb this year. The other is “Like a Boss,” which has dropped like a rock. The latter film has made just $21 million. It was supposed to hit like “Girls Trip,” with Tiffany Haddish whooping it up again. This didn’t work. (And I don’t understand why Salma Hayek isn’t trying to do serious movies like “Frida.”)

Paramount was the only major studio to lack a $100 million movie last year. They came achingly close with “Rocketman” at $96 million. But otherwise, it was a bleak showing.

Now they wait. First comes “A Quiet Place, Part 2,” the sequel to John Krasinski’s surprise hit horror film from a couple of years ago. Will lightning strike twice? Hard to say, particularly because Krasinski– who wrote and directed– isn’t in this one unless he’s a ghost. His wife, the wonderful Emily Blunt, takes over, along with Cillian Murphy. That one’s not coming until March 20th.

But Paramount really waits and waits for Tom Cruise in “Mission Impossible,” but that’s not until summer 2021. Until then, fingers are crossed for Cruise in “Top Gun: Maverick,” coming June 26th. They will pull out all the stops for this one, a sequel more than 30 years in the making. Val Kilmer also returns from the original film, even though he has vocal problems. (We’ll see how they deal with that.) Plus the film is stacked with young talent like Miles Teller and Glen Powell. They’ve even thrown in an Oscar winner– Jennifer Connelly– and Ed Harris and Jon Hamm. How can it lose?

The clock is ticking, though. The only sure thing is Eddie Murphy in “Coming to America 2.” Another long awaited sequel, but the wait is even longer– Christmas.

P Diddy’s Past Rapper Star Mase Says Sean Puffy Combs Paid Him Just $20K for His Publishing Rights 24 Years Ago, And He Wants Them Back

0

Sean Combs’s big speech last Saturday night at Clive Davis’s dinner has really backfired. I told you in a previous story how the speech– which Disneyfied Combs’s career and portrayed him as a gladiator for musicians’ rights– was filled with errors and omissions.

Now rapper Mase, who huge hits with Puff Daddy/P Diddy/Sean Combs in the 90s, has spoken up about their relationship. Mase says Puffy paid him just $20,000 for his publishing rights 24 years ago. Now Mase wants them back. He says he recently offered Combs $2 million to get them back. It doesn’t sound like Combs has been responsive.

Mase– real name Mason Durell Betha — says when he turns 50 the rights will revert to him. But he’s only 44, and six years is a long time. (This also means he signed his deal when he was 20.) Ironically, Mase sang in the tribute to Combs last Saturday to a cheering crowd. But Puffy hadn’t made his now infamous speech yet canonizing himself. I don’t know who Mase’s record biz lawyer is, but I hope this Instagram post helps him get his rights. Ditto Faith Evans and rapper called The Lox.

I heard your #Grammy speech about how u are now for the artist and about how the artist must take back control. So I will be the first to take that initiative. Also, before we ask of other ethnicities to do us right we should do us as black people better. Especially the creators. I heard u loud and clear when u said that u are now for the artist and to that my response is if u want to see change you can make a change today by starting with yourself.

Your past business practices knowingly has continued purposely starved your artist and been extremely unfair to the very same artist that helped u obtain that Icon Award on the iconic Badboy label. For example, u still got my publishing from 24 years ago in which u gave me $20k. Which makes me never want to work w/ u as any artist wouldn’t after u know someone is robbing you & tarnishing your name when u don’t want to comply w/ his horrendous business model.

However, people would always ask what’s up w/ Mase? So I would be forced to still perform to not look crazy when I was getting peanuts and the robbery would continue. So many great moments and people lives in music were lost. But again, I rode with u in the face of death without flinching & u still wouldn’t do right. I never said anything because I wanted to wait until I was financially great so I can ensured that I was addressing this from a pure place and not out of spite. To add insult, u keep screaming black excellence and love but I know love isn’t free.

So I offered u 2m in cash just a few days ago to sell me back my publishing(as his biggest artist alive) that always show u respect for u giving me an opportunity at 19 yrs old. Your response was if I can match what the EUROPEAN GUY OFFER him that would be the only way I can get it back. Or else I can wait until I’m 50 years old and it will revert back to me from when I was 19 years old. You bought it for about 20k & I offered you 2m in cash. This is not black excellence at all. When our own race is enslaving us. If it’s about us owning, it can’t be about us owning each other. No More Hiding Behind “Love”. U CHANGED? GIVE THE ARTIST BACK THEIR $$$. So they can take care of their families

Madonna Cancels More Shows at London’s Palladium Citing Multiple Injuries: “It’s a miracle I have gotten this far”

0

Madonna is cancelling two more of her London shows. She says on Instagram she can’t do three shows in a row without a break. I believe her.

She writes: “It’s a miracle I have gotten this far.”

Ten years from now, someone — Maya Hawke? — will make a movie about Madonna’s crazy “Madame X” tour and will win the Oscar for it, just like Renee Zellweger has with “Judy.”

A couple of weeks ago someone associated with Madonna’s tour told me they doubted she’d get through London and Paris, the final stop. At this rate, Paris looks pretty doubtful. Madonna has no doubt suffered, learning she has limitations at 61.

“A note to all my my fans:
As you all know i have multiple injuries and have had to cancel shows to give myself time to recover.
So as not to surprise you i want to let you know ahead of time that I will be cancelling 2 shows- on Feb 4 and Feb 11th at the Palladium in London. because doing 3 shows in a row is too much on my body and in fact my doctors insist i take a day off after every show but i believe can manage if i do 2 shows then I rest!
Its a miracle i have gotten this far but a-lot has to do with the fact that i do 6 hours of re-hab every day.
3 hours before show and 3 after with multiple therapies.
I have also switched to flat shoes and modified difficult. parts of the show. This has helped enormously but i still need to be careful and of course rest is the best medicine.
i never want to cancel any show and Im determined that i will make it to the end if i pace myself.
God Willing 🙏🏼 Refunds will be automatically issued to the credit card on which tickets were ordered.
I appreciate your understanding and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.  Thank you!! Madame ❌ . #madamextheatre #thelondonpalladium

Netflix’s “The Crown” Will End Early with Season 5, And Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth, Before They Get to More Current Scandals

0

“The Crown” on Netflix will come to an end with season 5. Imelda Staunton will Queen Elizabeth II in the last season.

This means that “The Crown” will likely not reach the point of Princess Diana’s death. This past season has been concerned with the 1960s. The next season will cover the 70s. Unless they jump forward, “The Crown” will end in the 1980s, maybe with the marriage of Diana and Charles.

In 2016, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos said in press conferences that “The Crown” would run six seasons, and take Elizabeth from the beginning until now. But that seems to have changed. He said, “The idea is to do this over six decades, in six seasons presumably, and make the whole show over eight to 10 years.”

That idea has changed, and I don’t think it’s because of the cost. When Harry and Meghan’s story blew up, I wrote that they didn’t want to wind up being a season of “The Crown.” A short time later, Harry said something similar. I think it must have dawned on the Palace that “The Crown” would eventually leave the realm of nostalgia and arrive at prickly moments, like Charles and Diana’s divorce, their affairs, her death, and the current situation. Were phone calls made? I wouldn’t doubt it. Plus, if “The Crown” really were to saunter on into the 90s, we’d have “Randy Andy” and Koo Stark, and so many other scandals. Even Netflix couldn’t afford to cast so many people!

The show’s creator, Peter Morgan, has been given a lovely, staged quote for the press release: “At the outset I had imagined The Crown running for six seasons but now that we have begun work on the stories for season five it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop,” said Morgan. “I’m grateful to Netflix and Sony for supporting me in this decision.”

Perfect time? I don’t think so. But we’ve learned enough to know that if the Palace says it’s time, it’s time.

CBS Renews Long Running Soap “The Young and the Restless” Through 2024 and 51st Anniversary Despite Declining Ratings

0

The people in Genoa City can breathe a sigh of relief.

CBS has renewed long running soap opera “The Young and the Restless” through 2024. That will mark the soap’s 51st anniversary. It’s a nice sign considering the show has seen declining ratings in the last year that imperiled it.

The network will likely renew “The Bold and the Beautiful,” as well.

CBS hasn’t said what that means for new talk shows, but they will have to deal with that. The truth is, it’s easier to keep going with what’s known and not anger 3 or 4 million people than try to launch something new. So far, no one’s been able to come up with anything new that people want to see.

“The Young and the Restless” had 3.7 million viewers two weeks ago. They were off by a half million from a year ago and 1 million from two years ago. Still, they’ve been number 1 in their timeslot for 31 years. No one’s going to mess with that.

Maybe now they can hire back some of their popular actors who’ve left the show, like Eileen Davidson, and feature her unrelated castmate, Doug Davidson, some more.

Oscars Add More Presenters to Already Star-Studded List with Diane Keaton, Steve Martin, James Corden, Keanu Reeves and More

0

The Oscars keep adding presenters to their already all star list.

New names today reflect Hollywood royalty with Diane Keaton and long time favorite Steve Martin plus newer award winners like Penelope Cruz. (Hey, what about Javier?) Sigourney Weaver won’t be “Alien”-ated– she’ll be there. Also talk show host James Corden, who survived “Cats,” and the always popular John Wick, aka Keanu Reeves.

From the newer world of stars will come the great Beanie Feldstein from “Booksmart,”George MacKay, from “1917,” and  Zack Gottsagen and Shia LaBeouf from “The Peanut Butter Falcon.” A little PS on Beanie– her brother Jonah Hill presented many years ago, so now we’ve got a siblings match.

To top that off: Maya Rudolph! I’ll watch Maya Rudolph on any show. Maybe she’ll bring Tina and Amy, unless the Golden Globes preclude it.

Plus, of course, Billie Eilish, and musical performances from Elton John, Cynthia Erivo, Idina Menzel, Christy Metz, and Randy Newman.

People I’d like to see: more vets like Jane Fonda, Warren Beatty, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Douglas, Shirley Maclaine, etc

Final Oscar Voting Begins Today, with Best Picture Up in the Air as Acting Winners Seem Foregone Conclusion

0

Final voting begins for the Oscars, lasting for the next five days. And yes, it’s another weird year for Hollywood.

The acting winners seem a foregone conclusion at this point. Barring some hiccup, Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger, Brad Pitt, and Laura Dern seem headed to the winners’ circle. They’ve won almost all the other awards leading up to this moment including bellwethers like SAG, Critics Choice, and Golden Globes.

The big question is what will win Best Picture and who will be considered Best Director. The Academy often splits those awards, which makes everyone crazy. Then we see lots of Tweets about “I guess the movie directed itself.” That bromide never gets old. But it’s a way to distribute the honors.

This year, “1917” looks like Best Picture, and Bong Joon-Ho seems like he’d be Best Director for “Parasite.” But you never know, it could be reversed. I liked “Parasite” but don’t understand the fervor for it. The publicity team that worked on it should get an award. Here’s a foreign language film, with violence, that has crossed over into the Hollywood mainstream. It’s extraordinary. If it wins Best Picture, “Parasite” would be the first foreign film to do so. And not that many people have seen it. “Parasite” has only made $31 million, compared to over $100 million for “1917,” “Joker,” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”

So the last two awards given out on February 9th will be nail biters. Sadly, one movie out of the race is Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman,” which I loved and put at the top of all my lists. But “The Irishman” will live on, and be talked about and watched for years to come.

One anomaly this year: neither of the leading candidates for Best Picture has an acting nomination. “1917” and “Parasite” didn’t earn one for its players. So the Best Picture will likely not be directed by the Best Director nor acted by the Best Actors. But if “1917” wins, which I think it will, it will have the Best Cinematographer in Roger Deakins. And that’s pretty good.

Two Part , Four Hour Michael Jackson Documentary About 2005 Child Molestation and Conspiracy Trial, Arvizo Family Coming from A&E in June

0

The fascination with all things Michael Jackson never ends.

Now comes a two part, four hour documentary about Jackson’s 2005 child molestation and conspiracy trial from A&E. I’m told the special will air in June on the anniversary of Jackson’s acquittal, which is also two weeks short of 11th anniversary of his death.

The special is being put together by Atlas Entertainment, owned Michael and Michelle Walrath. Michael was described in the New York Times as a “nightlife and tech mogul.” Among their films: “Tapped” and “Fed Up.”

The filmmakers are trying to talk to everyone involved in the 2005 trial including the Arvizo family, who were used by Santa Barbara District Attorney Tom Sneddon in his vendetta against Jackson. Janet Arvizo and her then 13 year old son Gavin claimed Michael molested the boy. Eighteen grueling months of embarrassing negative publicity culminated in a graphic trial. Thanks to the truth, and defense attorney Thomas Mesereau, Jackson was acquitted. But the episode wore on Jackson and pushed him into a series of misadventures that ended his life four years later.

What will be interesting is to see if the filmmakers can get the Arvizo’s to talk, and get at the truth of what happened. I hear they’ve spoken with Sneddon’s second in command, Ron Zonen, who helped prosecute Jackson. Zonen wound up marrying a prosecution witness, Louise Palanker, who billed herself as a comedian in 2005, and testified for the family. Despite the jury verdict for Jackson, Palanker and Zonen went on to attend Gavin Arvizo’s wedding.

The Arvizo’s claimed that in addition to the molestation, Jackson had “kidnapped” them to keep them quiet. But I reported extensively on the case at the time, and none of that was true. Their so called abduction included first class hotel stays, movies, dinners out, toys, clothes, and for Janet Arvizo, spa days. Janet Arvizo was revealed on the witness stand to be a total nut when Mesereau asked if she thought Michael Jackson would take her kids away in a hot air balloon. She answered in the affirmative. Laughter broke out in courtroom, Judge Melville banged his gavel, and the trial was for most purposes over.

Vanessa Bryant’s First Post After Tragic Deaths of Kobe and Gigi: “I’m not sure what our lives hold beyond today, and it’s impossible to imagine life without them”

0

Vanessa Bryant is stronger than I would have guessed. She’s pulling it together for her three remaining daughters after the tragic deaths of her husband, Kobe, and 13 year old daughter Gigi. Her post on Instagram tonight says a ton about her. \

She writes: “There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now. I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever. They were our beautiful blessings taken from us too soon.”

Her post follows:

My girls and I want to thank the millions of people who’ve shown support and love during this horrific time. Thank you for all the prayers. We definitely need them. We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe — the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri. We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately. There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now. I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever. They were our beautiful blessings taken from us too soon. I’m not sure what our lives hold beyond today, and it’s impossible to imagine life without them. But we wake up each day, trying to keep pushing because Kobe, and our baby girl, Gigi, are shining on us to light the way. Our love for them is endless — and that’s to say, immeasurable. I just wish I could hug them, kiss them and bless them. Have them here with us, forever. Thank you for sharing your joy, your grief and your support with us. We ask that you grant us the respect and privacy we will need to navigate this new reality. To honor our Team Mamba family, the Mamba Sports Foundation has set up the MambaOnThree Fund to help support the other families affected by this tragedy. To donate, please go to MambaOnThree.org. To further Kobe and Gianna’s legacy in youth sports, please visit MambaSportsFoundation.org. Thank you so much for lifting us up in your prayers, and for loving Kobe, Gigi, Natalia, Bianka, Capri and me. #Mamba #Mambacita #GirlsDad #DaddysGirls #Family ❤️
