“Melania” Movie Popcorn Bucket Hits ebay for $29.99 — Can Be Purchased Without Actually Seeing the Film

Good news!

There is indeed a “Melania” popcorn bucket!

Regal Cinemas will sell it at concession stands in their theaters.

The “Melania” bucket, unlike other popcorn buckets, is pretty straightforward. It’s a bucket, but it looks like it can also be used for ice, or for waste. Or for vomiting once you’ve seen the movie or think about the subject.

The good news is that you don’t have to see the movie to get the bucket. Presumably it can purchased a la carte. You can go in and see another film, one that people like.

The “Melania” bucket should be an instant collector’s item. Like “Marty Supreme” merch, the black and white bucket — which features a photograph by heavily criticized photographer Ellen von Unwerth — has already hit ebay for $29.99.

I know I will cherish mine!

Also, alternative use — as a hat, a la Melania’s many bucket hats.

This is straining credulity.

Vanity Fair is very excited. After Kanye West posed his mea culpa letter in the Wall Street Journal yesterday, the magazine got in touch with him. Or, rather, someone who speaks for him.

In the WSJ yesterday, Kanye — who is broke and can’t sell a sneaker or a music stream — “apologized” for appearing to be antisemitic.

He accounted for his several years reign of madness and hate, saying a car crash in 2002 made his brain crazy. Now he’s okay, and is releasing a new CD.

This is what they do on “General Hospital” when they want to redeem a serial killer. “He had a brain tumor.”

The interview was conducted by email and sure sounds like AI answered the questions.

Is he on medication? The computer spit out this answer:

Yes, well, ICE is just overworked, but they really love everyone.

Vanity Fair does interview some professionals who doubt Kanye’s sincerity. But why bother publishing his comments at all? He’s a proven liar and a snake. He just wants to sell us something. We’re not buying.

Next thing you know, Kanye will be at their Oscar party. Can’t wait!

There’s not much left on the Kennedy Center schedule.

Famed composer Philip Glass is now removing the premiere of his “Lincoln” Symphony from the Center. He says the values of Lincoln are in direct conflict with those of the new Kennedy Center.

At this point, Glass is a straggler in the Kennedy Center exodus. Pretty much everything that was scheduled has been cancelled. The Washington National Opera Company is gone. Everyone from Renee Fleming to “Hamilton” has left the building.

Kennedy Center chief Richard — Tricky Dick — Grenell — is barely on the premises. He’s become the Kristi Noem of the arts. Soon he’ll be hosting wrestling matches in the Melania Trump Opera House.

At this point, there’s more action on the fake www.trumpkennedycenter.org than on the real site! They’d be smart to book outright racist Christian country singer Natasha Owens!

It’s Oscar Slagging Season: Waking Up to Negative Stories About “Marty Supreme” Director and “Song Sung Blue” Producers

It’s that time of the year.

Oscar slagging season.

Now that the Academy Awards nominations have been announced, Oscar campaigns are in full tilt.

That means the slagging season, whisper campaigns to derail movies and nominees, get them out of the way.

This is a long, honored tradition. And today. it’s more than ever evident.

In the New York Post, you can read not one but two such cases.

The biggest one is about an alleged rift between “Marty Supreme” director Josh Safdie and brother Benny. The latter directed The Rock in “The Smashing Machine.”

Josh’s movie is a hit, with several Oscar noms. Benny’s is not.

The new California Post edition from Rupert Murdoch makes it seem like the two brothers don’t speak and won’t make movies together again. The reason? Says the Post, Josh allowed bad things to happen to a young girl on the set of the brothers’ movie, “Good Time” in 2017.

Not so fast. I’ve been to two different events for “Marty Supreme” this winter. Josh and Benny were both there. They enthusiastically supported each other.

What’s the point of slagging Josh Safdie? To ruin his chances for a screenplay win? To derail Timothee Chalamet? Come on.

The Post also runs a tired old story today about the Neil Diamond-infused movie, “Song Sung Blue.” The movie is based on the story of married couple and singers Mike and Claire Sardina. There was already a documentary about them. Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman play the real life couple.

The Sardinas were a blended family, so there were a lot of characters. The film’s writers dramatized the Sardinas’ story as singers, but eliminated one of the couple’s children to streamline the story. Now Mike Sardina’s son is going around griping that he doesn’t exist in “Song Sung Blue.”

This always happens when films are based on real life people. Someone’s nose is out of joint because they feel slighted. They’re not getting the recognition they think they deserve, or they want more money.

The Post picks up Mike Sardina Jr’s story from the Daily Mail. He calls out Kate Hudson’s performance as “disgusting.” I’d love to know who arranged this interview with the Mail, which pays subjects to sensationalize even the most mundane things.

Is someone trying to knock Hudson out of the running for Best Actress? Forget about it. She has an Oscar nom and one from BAFTA. Claire Sardina, who Hudson plays, loves the movie and the performance. Hudson is terrific in “Song Sung Blue.”

So what’s next? Songwriter Lorenz Hart’s heirs complaining about “Blue Moon”? A member of the Weather Underground claiming infringement from “One Battle After Another”? Vampires asking for a bite of “Sinners”?

You’ve got to love it. Academy voters are too smart for this stuff.

In the movie world, box office is the final answer.

Critics scores and word of mouth count, but in the end it’s all about waking up to the hard numbers from movie theaters.

These days, streaming services like Netflix, Apple, Amazon, etc may put a film in theaters for limited release. But they don’t report the box office numbers like other studios since the films in question are headed to their platforms.

Amazon Studios has an unusual situation because they are teamed in ownership with MGM theatricals. They often do report the numbers because they’re still in the movie theater game.

This Friday, Amazon/MGM opens “Melania,” the infomercial documentary about Melania Trump, in about 1400 theaters. What will they do on Saturday morning when all studios report in?

According to my sources in the company, Amazon/MGM will dutifully report the Friday night box office for “Melania.”

This news should break the internet since the company has reportedly spent $75 million to gain favor with Melania’s husband, Donald Trump.

Right now, the estimates for the three day weekend are around $5 million. After an influx of curiosity seekers on Friday in some conservative areas, “Melania” is mostly unsold. Hundreds of theaters have either one or two, or no, tickets sold at all.

The rush Saturday morning to report the film’s failure will be massive. It’s brave of Amazon/MGM to be so transparent, knowing this will not end well. But good for them. They can always put an asterisk next to the film’s ranking when this is all over. They have plenty of real movies coming down the line.

Meantime, “Melania” posters at bus stops, etc have been heavily vulgarized by non believers. It’s quite stunning that Melania herself is being promoted as the person who wanted this film in the first place. She must be very insulated from reality. The fallout is going to be worse than anything to do with ICE or Greenland!

PS I can’t believe no one thought of a popcorn bucket made from the hat Melania wears. It would have been perfect!

BAFTA Brit Film Academy Favors “Sinners,” “One Battle,” Surprise Snubs “Wicked,” “Avatar,” Amy Madigan, “Marty” Score

The British Film Academy aka BAFTA announced its nominees today.

The group favored Warner Bros releases “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners.”

The biggest surprise? The snub of Amy Madigan in Best Supporting Actress from “Weapons.” Madigan has won a lot of US awards and is a favorite for the Oscars.

BAFTA also ignored “Wicked: for Good” and “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” same as the Motion Picture Academy. They also left out the excellent score for “Marty Supreme” by Daniel Lopatin.

BAFTA allows six noms in each category so most everyone excluded by the Oscars made the cut. It does look like they just didn’t take “Weapons” seriously, which is too bad because it’s a terrific, inventive film and Madigan is swell.

You may have heard: Neil Young has removed his music from amazon.

More importantly, Neil is giving the people of Greenland his music for free for one year.

No kidding.

I love Neil because he’s still feisty. Rust never sleeps but he’s still pouring Coca Cola on it.

I’m trying to imagine all those great Greenlanders, whom we’ve driven crazy, blasting “You are like a hurricane” or humming “I’ve seen the needle and the damage done…”

Bravo, Neil! Comes a time when you have to take a stand!

Harry Styles’ “Aperture” Closing Fast, Electronic Music Single Bumped to Number 2 on Spotify by “Stranger Things” Star

I had a feeling this might happen.

Even his most ardent fans are not digging Harry Styles’ new single that much.

“Aperture” — released last Thursday — has already been knocked off its perch at number 1 on Spotify and iTunes.

On the former, “Aperture” drops to number 2, replaced by Joe Keery aka Djo. The “Stranger Things” star’s “End of the Beginning” is back at number 1.

On the latter, Styles has fallen to number 3, ousted by Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might.”

Harry will have to release a second single from his new album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally” before its release on March 6th. “Aperture” seemed like an odd choice for a comeback single. At best, it’s a dance record for clubs and not something you’d want to hear on the radio. Cross fingers the next one is a banger.

Donald Trump has only one memory of New York at its finest: when only white people were evident.

He’s posted a video — colorized, which is the irony — of New Yorkers promenading down Fifth Avenue during an Easter Parade. Each one is white. There’s no sign of anyone else — no one diverse, as he might say, or Black, Asian, or from any other part of society.

He writes, wistfully: “New York City in a slightly different time. Never forget!”

The men are wearing top hats. The ladies are in their bonnets. The streets are pristine as churchgoers line up for St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

It’s a New York that never existed except in the memories of the myopic. And racist.

The year? Maybe 1930 — or much earlier. When America was Great, when Fred Trump was keeping Blacks out of his apartment houses.

What’s very important to note is that the film looks restored or created by AI. It’s Trump’s fever dream. He had to seek out this video online, or have it made just for him.

Someone should make a movie in which young Trump is time traveled to the South around that time, or Harlem.

This is who 80 million people voted for.

I hope Mike Tyson sees this paradise. He was a guest at the Melania documentary premiere at the White House.

Trump, on TruthSocial, has suddenly posted this odd statement of possible retreat:

He writes, out of nowhere: “People don’t realize that The Trump Kennedy Center suffered massive deficits for many years and, like everything else, I merely came in to save it and, if possible, make it far better than ever before! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP”

Trump has already waved the white flag on Greenland, backing off of armed conflict to get a country no one wants him to have.

He sent out a peace offering to Minnesota governor Tim Walz today, perhaps also having an epiphany that he will be blamed for the deaths of Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and Keith Porter.

Now he may have finally understood that there’s nothing left of the Kennedy Center. He fired the board and the staff, and renamed it in his own honor. The result is the Opera Company is leaving, major and minor artists have cancelled performances, and the halls are echoing with no attendance.

He’s still whining that the Center had “massive deficits,” which is actually not true. The Kennedy Center was breaking even, which is all a not for profit arts institution must do — it’s not for profit. It’s not a booming profit center.

Trump will never admit to being wrong, or apologize. But does that post today suggest a rethinking of this unmitigated disaster? Stay tuned…
