Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham Releases New Single, Announces Album & Tour, Divorces Wife of 21 Years

0

Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham is keeping busy.

He’s releasing a new single, has announced an album and a tour, and is divorcing his wife of 20 years, the mother of his three children.

The single is called “I Don’t Mind,” and it sounds like a rejected Fleetwood Mac track from the 80s. The album is named as they say eponymously, for himself. It hits September 17th.

The wife was named Kristen Messner. They have three kids, and were married 21 years ago. TMZ reports Messner filed for divorce this week.

The tour runs in September and then again in December.

Buckingham was fired by Fleetwood Mac a couple of years ago in a dispute over touring. He and Stevie Nicks joined Mick Fleetwood, Christine and John McVie back in 1974. Fleetwood Mac had already been a group for many years, but this turned them into superstars. Annoying ones, who slept with each other, sang about it, fought about it, and squabbled in public.

More recently Lindsey, 71, has had some health problems and required open heart surgery. Then he sold the rights to his songs for a lump sum during the pandemic. And now he’s got a song that sounds as out of date as if your grandfather insisted on bringing back Snooky Lanson (look him up). The album is his first in 10 years as a solo act.

Buyer Beware: Unscrupulous Brokers Are Selling Springsteen on Broadway Tickets for Thousands of Dollars

Tickets to Springsteen on Broadway don’t go on sale until tomorrow, Thursday June 10th. And you can only get them on SeatGeek.com

Nevertheless, unscrupulous ticket brokers are already online scalping seats for between $2,906 and $7,406 — that’s four thousand and seven thousand dollars.

I took this picture at left from Event Tickets Center. They’re already doing business accepting charges at these outrageous prices even though they have no power do so.

It’s the same every day not just Tuesday June 29th.

Another group is called TicketNetwork.com. Their prices are below. It’s all between $2,500 and almost $5,000.

Don’t fall for it!

But where is the FTC or the NY State Attorney General or someone to stop this skullduggery. And can you imagine actually paying these prices to an online broker? Insane. But there’s a sucker born every minute!

There are others, as well. Remember, fans of the Boss: Bruce doesn’t get that money. You’re paying that to thieves. The top price on SeatGeek will be $800, that’s high enough. You’re being mugged if you pay more!

Rebecca Miller Gets Together a Bunch of Great Actors Including Matthew Broderick, Anne Hathaway, and Marisa Tomei for New Film Called “She Came to Me”

0

Pay close attention here.

Rebecca Miller is the terrific writer director of movies like “Maggie’s Plan” and “Personal Velocity.” Her father was Arthur Miller, her husband is Daniel Day-Lewis.

She’s gotten together a bunch of great actors for a movie she’s going to make called “She Came to Me.” The stars in it you know are Anne Hathaway, Marisa Tomei, and Matthew Broderick. The names you might not know are amazing non-Americans: Joanna Kulig from “Cold War” and Tahar Rahim from “The Mauritanian.” They are all knock outs. I want to see this movie!

Killer Films’ Christine Vachon, who knows what she’s doing, and Pamela Koffler are producing alongside Miller and Damon Cardasis from Round Films. Protagonist Films will sell the worldwide rights at Cannes’ Marche du Film from June 21st to the 25th.

“She Came to Me” is described as “a truly modern romantic comedy, a multi-generational story set against the iconic backdrop of New York: a composer suffering from writer’s block rediscovers his passion after an adventurous one-night stand, a couple of gifted teenagers fight to prove to the parents that their young love is something that can last forever, and for the woman who seemingly has it all – love arrives in the most unexpected places.”

So let’s cross our fingers, and hope this all comes off without a hitch. I like Rebecca Miller, she’s also my neighbor. I just hope she doesn’t doesn’t shoot “She Came to Me” on our street. We have few enough parking spaces already!

Mike Myers, aka Wayne of “Wayne’s World,” aka Austin Powers and Dr. Evil, Has a New Netflix Series

0

Mike Myers– I can’t help it, I have a soft spot for him. Not for Wayne’s World or Austin Powers, for the big headed Scottish kid blocking the TV in “So I Married an Axe Murderer.” That movie, just the idea of it makes me crack up.  Also, when he was married to his first wife, Robin Ruzan, Myers affectionately picked up a lot of Yiddish from his mother in law, Linda Richman, and used it very effectively on “SNL.” He made us all verklempt.

So Mike is shooting a new series for Netflix called “The Pentaverate.”  He’ll play seven  brand new characters in six half hour episodes. .

The plot: “What if a secret society of five men has been working to influence world events for the greater good since the Black Plague of 1347? As this new series begins, one unlikely Canadian journalist finds himself embroiled in a mission to uncover the truth and just possibly save the world himself. Remember, the Pentaverate must never be exposed!”

Is that really the plot? Who knows?!

The cast includes very cool, funny actors including Ken Jeong, Keegan-Michael Key, Debi Mazar, Richard McCabe, Jennifer Saunders, and Lydia West.

When will we see it? When they’ve finished it, I guess. I’m certainly looking forward to it.

“The Bachelorette” Hits All Time Low Ratings: Either Fans Hate the Show or Miss Chris Harrison, Pick One

0

Monday night’s premiere of “The Bachelorette” hit an all time low in the ratings.

The show drew 3.6 million viewers, as opposed to the 5 million that tuned in for the last “Bachelorette” premiere.

The fans either hate the show now after this past spring’s mishegos with Matt James on “The Bachelor” or they miss Chris Harrison, who’s not returning after 19 seasons.

Or maybe it’s both and they hate Harrison for his racism flap with Rachel Lindsay but I doubt it.

I’m not defending Harrison, but Lindsay caught him off guard and he was programmed to speak the company line. I doubt he was even thinking anything more than ‘defend Rachael Kirkconnell, she’s still on the show, I work for ABC.”

Well, it all went wrong. Harrison came off as defending Kirkconnell’s racist past, Lindsay– a trained lawyer– went after him, and the rest is misery.

Now the show has returned and dropped 1.4 million viewers in the process. Will it recover? I don’t think so. And ABC is committed to a lot of Bachelor Nation shows for the next six months. More “Bachelorette” and also “Bachelor in Paradise.” They’ve got guest hosts, rotating hosts, and as we know from “Jeopardy!” that doesn’t work.

They should have just put Harrison on “Jimmy Kimmel,” let him dig himself out of the hole, and move on. But they’re cowards, network executives, so they cut bait and ran. Now we’ll watch “The Bachelorette” sink over the next few weeks.

“The Bachelor” Needs a New Job: Host Chris Harrison Out After 19 Years Over Racism Scandal

Chris Harrison does not get the final rose. He’s out as host of The Bachelor and its associated shows after 19 years.

Yes, 19 years. This nonsense has been on the air since 2002, believe it or not.

Harrison signs an NDA and gets an 8 figure settlement as parting gifts.

The ouster is a result of a disastrous interview Harrison gave to former “Bachelorette” star Rachel Lindsay on “Extra” in February. He blithely defended “Bachelor” competitor Rachael Kirkconnell after news broke that she’d attended a plantation party. Lindsay’s response to Harrison is what did him in. “What role would I have played at that party?” she asked. Lindsay is Black.

And that was it. Harrison was removed from the final episode of the season, then the upcoming “Bachelorette” shows and “Bachelor in Paradise.” He was completely cancelled.

The irony of course is that Kirkconnell, who was then dumped by prospective fiancee Matt James, who was also Black (she is white), has gotten back together with James. So he didn’t care that she came from an ignorant, racist background. But it killed Harrison’s career.

Harrison should be pretty rich from 19 seasons of this mindless crap anyway. His NDA may preclude a book, although who knows? These days, all bets are off.

Reality Bites: Rapper Snoop Dogg Takes a Job as an Executive with DefJam Records, Will Receive Paycheck, Benefits, 2 Week Vacation

Reality, as we all know, bites.

This is even true for Snoop Dogg, aka Calvin Broadus. The rapper known for being stoned all the time and appearing in commercials with Martha Stewart, is taking a 9 to 5 job. He’s going to be an exec with DefJam Records. Presumably he’ll get a paycheck and benefits.

What is forcing Snoop into dreary domestication? Snoop’s biggest record was “Doggystyle” in 1993. This year “Doggystyle” has so far sold 5,000 copies, roughly half of his total sales. There’s streaming money, but none of this is enough to underwrite his lifestyle. And there’s no touring for the last year. The pot isn’t free. Neither are the cars and everything else that makes Snoop a Dogg.

Snoop can currently be heard on a remix of “Peaches,” the Justin Bieber single, with Usher and Ludacris. “Peaches” is a big hit, but there are a lot of people who divide that peach pie. Even Justin Bieber may have to take a job soon!

PS Does Snoop know about the hour long lunch break, two week vacations, and Universal Music HR handbook? I know I’m not telling him.

Music News: Mariah Changes Management Looking for a Hit, Could Wind Up Singing the National Anthem at Citi Field

0

MARIAH CAREY is looking for a hit. Evidently, she wasn’t getting any help from her management company, Roc Nation. Her manager Melissa Ruderman jumped from Roc to Range Media in January. Now Mariah has followed. The UK Sun and Deadline.com suggested that Mariah had a falling out with Jay Z, who owns Roc. Mariah responded by saying she was proud of the number 1 single she had with Jay Z, called “Heartbreaker.”

Only: “Heartbreaker” was a hit in 1999. Mariah has not been able to muster a new hit in over a decade. Her only record that sells is “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Every November it takes off, and gives Mariah a new lease at number 1 for about a week.

But for people under 30, that’s all they know of Mariah. Can Range Media help her? They’re not really a music outfit. It seems an odd choice. Also, Range is owned by Point 72, the financial firm guided by Steve Cohen, owner of the Mets and survivor of a financial scandal with the SEC. He had to pay them $1.8 billion in fines as SAC Capital, Point 72’s previous name. I’m not sure Mariah understands she may soon be singing the national anthem at Mets games.

One story said Mariah wanted to an “R&B album,” whatever that means. What was she doing before? What Mariah should do is record an album of real songs, not deploying her high octave over yodeling. When she covered “Without You” and “I’ll Be There,” her audience responded. Her song, “Dreamlover,” is the only single in her carton of hits besides “Vision of Love” with a melody and a hook. Cover some cool R&B oldies not so well known, have some new ones crafted like Bruno Mars’ latest hit. That’s the only way Mariah will get on radio or back on the charts.

Hollywood: Nancy Davis’s Annual Race to Erase MS Gala Raises $1.4 Mil With a Drive-in at the Rose Bowl

0

Earth Wind & Fire definitely made the attendees at “Drive-In to Erase MS Gala” at the Rose Bowl this past Friday night, forget that COVID even happened. And Nancy Davis just doesn’t give up.

The combination proved a winning night, which raised $1.4 millions dollars help find a cure for multiple sclerosis.

Davis herself was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1991 at the age of 31. She started her foundation in 1993 and has used her platform for good ever since to raise awareness and funds. She is the intrepid daughter of the late Marvin Davis and the much admired, classiest woman in Hollywood Barbara Davis.

Will she ever stop? Nancy told us, “We got two more drugs this year, we have twenty-two now, all with FDA approval. We have such generous supporters that we were able to keep our research going, it’s kind of a miracle. But I’m not finishing until we find a cure, and we are going to find a cure, there is no doubt about it.”

Lance Bass kicked off the night followed by Nancy’s lovely daughters Isabella and Mariella Rickel. (Their dad and Nancy’s husband is respected entrepreneur Kenneth Rickel.) The girls gave their beloved Mom a heartwarming introduction.

Nancy then spoke of her history with MS and as she wrapped up, she thanked the guests and noted, “unfortunately, we can’t have everybody rush onto the stage like we usually do because of the CDC rules. But by next year, we’ll all be back!”

Stacy Bendet’s Alice + Olivia fashion show followed her, then the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” stars Dorit Kemsley, Kyle Richards, Kathy Hilton and Sutton Stracke started the auction. When Earth, Wind & Fire —  playing their first gig since the pandemic — played “Boogie Wonderland,”  the grateful crowd started to dance and didn’t stop.

The band followed with “Sing a Song,” “September,” “Lets Groove” “Shining Star,” and the event’s annual closing number, “Lean On Me,” where the lovely Siedah Garret, David Osmond, Greg Phillinganes and Nancy’s family, joined. As Nancy says, “I am so excited that we were able to have the breakout post COVID event where everybody got together and celebrated and felt so healthy and good, got out of their sweatsuits and celebrated finding a cure for MS!”
