Kim Kardashian Pays Tribute to Ex Husband Kanye West with New “Skims Head” Fashion Line At Academy Museum Gala

0

Kim Kardashian knows how to promote her products.

She wore a piece from her new underwear line on her face last night at the Academy Museum Gala.

Kim, who along with her mother has an entirely new face, decided to cover it up with panties. Maybe her new face hasn’t settled in yet. So this was a wise decision.

Of course, Kardashian was really mimicking old costumes worn by her ex husband, Kanye — Where is He Now? — West. Kanye is busy probably busy warding off lawsuits from investors in his failed bitcoin, so a mask is always a good choice.

The Academy Museum gala looks like it was otherwise a classy affair, with plenty of celebrities dressed very nicely. And the host of the red carpet, a British comedienne named Amelia, showed that she’s not afraid of getting a chest cold.

Only in Hollywood, kids, only in Hollywood. I love how the people there tolerate this moronic family.

Box Office: Ethan Hawke Dials Up $26 Mil in “Black Phone 2,” Keanu Reeves, Julia Roberts, The Rock Strike Out, JLo Disappears

0

It was a good time, unknown time for Ethan Hawke this weekend at the box office.

Hawke wears a mask and scares people in “Black Phone 2,” which topped the list with $26.5 million. You won’t see it, I won’t see it, but horror fans did, and that’s the point. My friend, Perri Nemiroff from the website Collider, saw it, and she loved it. So there.

“Black Phone 2” pays the bills so Hawke can do high quality Richard Linklater films like “Boyhood” and his trilogy with Julie Delpy. Their “Blue Moon” is the opposite end of the spectrum from “Black Phone 2.” Just in limited release this week (the actual numbers got screwed up), “Blue Moon” is a must-see film for people who don’t want to be frightened but love cinema.

It’s a whiff for a bunch of other stars including Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, and Dwayne The Rock Johnson.

Roberts stars in “After the Hunt,” which made $1.55 million and heads off to Amazon Prime soon. Roberts has not made an enjoyable “Julia Roberts” type movie now in more than a dozen years. New audiences would have to work hard to find “Pretty Woman” or “My Best Friend’s Wedding” or even “Erin Brockovich.”

“The Smashing Machine” starring Johnson will wrap up its short run with about $12 million tops. No one wanted to see it, and no one has seen it. Strangely enough, director Benny Safdie and Johnson are undeterred by this calamity and are making another movie together. How do they find investors?

“Kiss of the Spider Woman” vanished entirely over the weekend. On Friday, Roadkill Attractions reported a total of $1.3 million over an 8 day period. Neverthless– and this was weird — Lopez was still doing major press this week, like Howard Stern’s radio show. Did no one tell her this wouldn’t help? Maybe she just likes publicity for no purpose. “Spider Woman” will lose most of its theaters this coming Friday, and head off to video on demand for 20 bucks or so.

Keanu Reeves also had a rough ride over the weekend. His “Good Fortune” crumbled like a fortune cookie with $6.2 million. Seth Rogen and Aziz Ansari are involved, too. Forgettable airplane stuff. Keanu remains on Broadway in “Waiting for Godot,” a mixed bag but a heroic effort.

Still doing very well: “One Battle After Another” and “Roofman,” each proof that good movies can make money if the audience approves and tells their friends. Whew! What an old fashioned concept!

Exclusive: Diane Keaton Spent Her Last Months at Palm Springs Retreat “So Exclusive People Barely Know It Exists”

0

Of all celebrity deaths — Robert Redford, Gene Hackman — just one has hit us like a depth charge.

A week ago, Diane Keaton, beloved actress and many other things, left us at 79 years old. She was an absolute delight. For a celebrity never to have a bad word said about them is a rarity. But Keaton lit up every room.

Keaton’s family says she died of pneumonia, which I’m sure is true. But I can tell you see suffered from a rare form of dementia that came on quickly and attacked her amazing brain. Her mother had also suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, so it was somehow genetic. But what a mean end of a great life.

There are lots of tabloid reports about Keaton’s final days. I know that close friends visited her and she did not necessarily recognize them.

I can tell you exclusively that Keaton spent her last months in Palm Springs, California. She stayed — with family and caregivers — at a very discreet place called Smoke Tree Ranch. The Wall Street Journal once described the rest as “so exclusive people barely know it exists” and “a western fantasy land.”

Smoke Tree Ranch actually sounds like heaven. You can read its whole, long history here. It seems like the most Diane Keaton place in the world, serene and nostalgic. I’m glad she got some peace there.

Keaton lived her life on her own terms. She was a maverick. She’ll be remembered for “Annie Hall,” “Reds,” “Baby Boom,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” and so on as the classiest of all our modern stars.

Mariah Carey’s First Album in 7 Years, “Here for It All,” Over After Three Weeks, Lowest Sales of Her Career

0

Mariah Carey’s first album in seven years is dead after three weeks.

“Here for It All,” which should have been a hit, is off the charts. Gone. DOA.

The album has sold 69,000 copies including streaming since its release on September 26th.

Of those, about 31,000 were actual CDs, LPs, and paid downloads.

Carey, who used to sell millions of album, has been relegated to status of legacy performer whose old music lives on but her new material is ignored.

It’s too bad because she’s never sounded better, and the songs on the album are pretty catchy.

But “Here for It All,” didn’t even get attention from her famous fan club, the Lambs. It’s her worst selling album in a 35 year career.

But the whole thing has blown up. Coincidentally, Jennifer Lopez — Carey’s arch rival — has seen her new project, the movie “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” buried at the box office.

This is No Country for Middle Aged Stars.

Carey did a week of TV appearances, but they were all interviews, no singing of the new songs. So while her presence was registered, no enthusiasm was drummed up for the music.

Luckily, Christmas season is six weeks away, and Carey will back back promoting her evergreen hit, “All I Want for Christmas is You.”

SOS! “Blue Moon,” One of the Best Films of 2025, Is Now in Theaters Everywhere: Ethan Hawke Gives the Performance of His Life

SOS! “Blue Moon,” One of the Best Films of 2025, Is Now in Theaters Everywhere: Ethan Hawke Gives the Performance of His Life

0

If you’re seeing one movie this weekend, make it “Blue Moon.”

It has 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Richard Linklater directs Ethan Hawke is a once-in-a-lifetime performance. If you love movies, acting, writing, directing, this is a must-see film.

Hawke plays famed classic American songbook songwriter Lorenz Hart, aka “Larry,” a Truman Capote like character who wrote some of your favorite songs like “My Funny Valentine,” “Where or When,” and the title song.

He wrote them with Richard Rodgers, as well as many musicals. When the movie takes place it’s the night “Oklahoma!” opened on Broadway. Hart is waiting for Rodgers and his new partner, Oscar Hammerstein, to come to Sardi’s to celebrate.

There’s a lot going on. Hart/Hawke is spilling his guts to a bartender played by Bobby Cannavale. A soldier on furlough is playing Hart’s songs on a piano. And then the crowd comes rushing in. If you love Broadway, or nostalgic New York, you’re going to want to join this party, too.

Margaret Qualley is sensational as a young girl who’s kind of playing Hart while trying to launch her own Broadway career.

Hart was 5 feet tall! Hawke is about 5 foot 11 inches. So how did Linklater pull this off? Movie magic!

Again, Broadway fans should not miss this extraordinary gem of a film! See it in theaters, it’s more than worth it!

Final: Taylor Swift’s “Showgirl” Album Drops 92% in Second Week of Release, “Ophelia” Single Knocked Down to Number 3

0

The final numbers are in for music sales this past week.

Taylor Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl” dropped 92% in its second week, from 4 million to 335,423 according to hitsdailydouble.com.

Only a third of the sales were physical, including CDs, LPs, cassettes, and paid downloads. Two thirds came from streaming.

One reason the paid download number fell so precipitously is because Swift didn’t allow downloading of individual tracks. It was the whole album or nothing. That seems to have pushed streaming.

Only one track is allowed for downloading — “The Fate of Ophelia,” which went to right number 1.

But “Ophelia” has been knocked down to number 3 on iTunes by new releases from Brandi Carlile and Ella Langley, respectively.

Will the other “Showgirl” tracks be allowed to travel solo on iTunes. Has “Ophelia” already peaked? Has “Showgirl” exhausted its audience in one week?

Stay tuned…

The Next Lego Movie May Feature John Wick aka Keanu Reeves — Once He’s Finished Waiting for Godot on Broadway (Exclusive)

0

Godot is never going to show up in the Samuel Beckett play no matter how long anyone waits for him.

But star of the current production of “Waiting for Godot” on Broadway may find that he’s “connecting” elsewhere once his run is over.

Sources say the folks who make the Lego Movies are keen on Keanu being featured in their next film.

The Lego folks were in town last night to see “Godot” and convince “John Wick” that he would be a ‘snap’ in their next project.

There are five new Lego films in development at Universal Pictures following a run of four hits at Warner Bros. “The Lego Batman Movie” is a cult classic by now.

I’m told the new movies will have all new characters and plots. Directors writers Chris Miller and Phil Lord won’t be involved, either. They collaborated on the first two Lego movies.

Meantime, Keanu and “Excellent Adventure” pal Alex Winter are selling out the Hudson Theater with “Godot,” in their first Broadway efforts respectively. They’re introducing Beckett to a whole new world and generation, and holding their own.

But if you go, check out Brandon J. Dirden and Michael Patrick Thornton as secondary characters Pozzo and Lucky. The steal the show completely. So does the set — a tunnel that reminded me of TV’s “Time Tunnel” from the 1960s and is a unique to present this existential play.

Will we see “Waiting for Lego”? Unlikely, although a series of “Lego” Broadway shows on video would be hilarious.

Britney Spears Has More to Say About Her Ex’s Tell All Book, Which BTW Didn’t Get a Sales Bounce with New Revelations

0

Britney Spears is coming off more sympathetic than ever in the press

She’s fighting off a tell all book by her smarmy ex husband Kevin Federline. The book will be published next Tuesday.

“You Thought You Knew” is Federline’s cash in after 18 years on Britney’s gravy train. This week the book garnered so much publicity that even the New York Times ran a story on it.

Unfortunately, Federline may find that people don’t want to read lurid stories about Britney. They want her to succeed. Even with all the headlines this week, “You Thought You Knew” didn’t rise above number 1,000 on amazon.com in advance sales. My prediction is a couple of days of sales next week, followed by a significant drop.

Meantime, Britney has issued a second post. As she says of one of Federline’s interviews: “It literally blows my mind the moments he stops before he cries are you fucking serious…”

Britney is ditzy but she’s human, and she hasn’t harmed anyone. As for Federline, he’s never worked, has lived off his divorce, and will now live off the infamy of the book. How long before he sinks to the level of “Dancing with the Stars” and other reality shows as a washed up celebrity?

Britney Spears Accuses Ex Husband of “Gaslighting” as He Peddles Sleazy Tell All Book in the New York Times, Of All Places

0

Britney Spears is not happy with ex husband, Kevin Federline.

Unrestrained by any agreements, Federline has published a tell all book about their relationship. The book is called “You Thought You Knew,” and will drop October 21st.

Federline has accomplished nothing in life except marrying a pop star and fathering her two children. His only other accomplishment is sponging off of her.

In the book he makes wild, unpleasant claims about Spears, whom he claims is on the verge of something terrible — even though he hasn’t seen her in years.

“It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK,” he writes. “From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”

Spears — who’s certainly had a rocky life — is not taking this laying down.

She writes on TWitter:

“The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys.
Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.

“Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by own father for me. They need to take responsibility for themselves. With one son only seeing me for 45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years.

“I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available. Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here. I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking.

“I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.”

I have no dog in this race. But to think the Times has assigned two reporters to this story is the most hilarious part ever. I guess we know why they can’t figure out Israel and Gaza, and so forth. To not know Kevin Federline is a classic sleaze bag explains everything.

Oscar Winners Robert De Niro and Al Pacino Get Together for Moncler Ad Campaign, But Another Oscar Winner is Invisible

0

So, fashion house Moncler scored a coup for the winter.

They’ve got Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in ad together for their pricey outerwear.

This pair is not often seen in the same place unless they’re promoting a movie like “Heat” or “The Irishman.”

Moncler outdid themselves.

But there’s an invisible Oscar winning actress in that ad. That would be the sensation Jessica Chastain.

Don’t see her? Chastain is married to Moncler’s secret weapon executive, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, since 2017. They have two children, and are considered one of the best couples in the Hollywood multiverse.

Chastain and Pacino are long time buddies, having appeared on Broadway together in “Wild Salome,” and then in the movie. When Chastain won Best Actress in Cannes for “Tree of Life,” De Niro was head of the jury.

Small world? May be. But there’s some kind of magic at foot here. And we’re all the better for it!
