Shocker: Trump Wreaks Havoc, Takes Over Kennedy Center, Dismisses David Rubenstein and Other Execs, Punishment for Media Enemy CBS

Among the horrible and unforgivable moves toward fascism today, Donald Trump has taken over the Kennedy Center.

He’s fired long leader David Rubenstein, head of the Carlyle Group and the man who saved both the Kennedy Center and Washington Monument from financial ruin. Trump also sent notices to other board members. It should be noted that Rubenstein has hosted former President Joe Biden at his home in Nantucket.

This is a real story.

He writes: “At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN. I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture. We will soon announce a new Board, with an amazing Chairman, DONALD J. TRUMP! Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP. The Kennedy Center is an American Jewel, and must reflect the brightest STARS on its stage from all across our Nation. For the Kennedy Center, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!”

Recently, Deborah Rutter, who was Rubenstein’s second in command, resigned. She must have had a sense that the end was coming. It’s disgraceful.

The Kennedy Center was created to honor the American culture. In the four years of his first term, Trump never attended the Kennedy Center Honors. He ignores all efforts to promote the culture, and arts, at every turn.

CBS broadcasts the Kennedy Center Honors every December. Trump is currently locked in a legal battle with the Tiffany network over 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris. He wants to shut down the show and the network.

This may be a way of punishing CBS, which is owned by Paramount. The studio is closing a deal to sell themselves to David Ellison’s Skydance, which is funded by Trump’s friend and Ellison’s billionaire father, Larry, owner of Oracle.

Reacting to this news, CBS may very well drop the show. With the artistic boards gone, the Kennedy Center is now in severe peril .

We are in deep trouble.

“SNL” Books All Star Guests for 50th Anniversary Show, Fans Choose All Time Fave Character in Brackets Game

“Saturday Night Live” has booked a bunch of guests for the 50th anniversary live special on Sunday, February 16th.

They include obvious stars like Steve Martin, Paul Simon, and Paul McCartney. Everyone they’ve announced are people who were never in the permanent cast, so expect almost everyone who’s been on the show including Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, Tina Fey, and so on. The special will not disappoint.

One odd guest is Kim Kardashian. By reading comments online, no one wants her there.

Others on the list are Adam Driver, Ayo Edebiri, Bad Bunny, Dave Chappelle, John Mulaney, Martin Short, Miley Cyrus, Pedro Pascal, Peyton Manning, Quinta Brunson, Robert De Niro, Sabrina Carpenter, Scarlett Johansson, Steve Martin, Tom Hanks and Woody Harrelson.

I’ll be disappointed if Candice Bergen doesn’t make an appearance.

There’s also a sold out show Friday night the 14th at Radio City Music Hall celebrating the show’s music history.

Meantime, “SNL” offered fans a basketball bracket type game to name the show’s all time favorite character. The winner seems to be Bill Hader’s Stefon. Runner up is Chris Farley’s Mike Foley. I would have gone with Gilda Radner’s Roseanne Roseannadana, or Eddie Murphy’s Mister Rogers.

Less than a year ago, the Hollywood trades were filled with stories about fashion companies going into movie production.

The main one, so far, is Saint Laurent formerly Yves Saint Laurent and known as YSL around the world.

Saint Laurent Productions brought three movies to Cannes last year including “Emilia Perez.” They invested big time, and provided costumes.

Now “Emilia Perez” has become a disaster thanks to star Karla Sofia Gascon. Her litany of past racist Tweets has been uncovered, making Netflix cut her loose from their Oscar campaign.

If “Emilia Perez” were in theaters, we could see the result in declining box office receipts. As it is; the movie has had a week performance in international theaters, and isn’t even in the Netflix top 10 movies.

Few people realize that Saint Laurent is a big chunk of money behind “Emilia Perez.” I’m told, however, that this hasn’t been lost on their rival, Chanel.

That company, sources say, is in big push of its own to back films and be part of Hollywood. The fashion house already throws extravagant parties around the world for no reason other than to promote themselves. Chanel will host one of these, given by their PR flack Charles Finch, on March 1st, the night before the Oscars, at the Beverly Hills Hotel. (No mention yet how this will play against the background of the simmering wildfires and massive property loss.)

Finch, by the way, is still promoting “Emilia Perez” on its Instagram page, maybe hoping no one will remember Gascon’s hateful, insane ramblings.

Now that Gascon has blown up “Emilia Perez” into a million pieces, these new fashion production companies may start asking questions about vetting, with deep dives into the social media of the players.

Here’s the actual video for Elton John and Brandi Carlile’s duet, “Who Believes in Angels?”

The song and video are out now, the album of the same name hits on April 4th.

Elton and Brandi perform a once in a lifetime show in London on March 26th.

The singing is great, but I could also listen to Elton John play piano all day long!

The video is directed by famed photographer David LaChappelle – who is not the comic Dave Chappelle!

LaChapelle says: “It’s been a wonderful continuation of this journey with Elton over the last 20+ years – projects, videos, stage productions, photo shoots… We created a gigantic pinball machine and made a magical world that reminds us of where we’ve been as kids – that dreams do come true – and creating together with your heroes can be a sublime experience.”

The band comprises of Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Pino Palladino (Nine Inch Nails, Gary Numan and David Gilmour) and Josh Klinghoffer (Pearl Jam, Beck).

Some of the songs are by Elton and lifetime collaborator Bernie Taupin. Some are from Brandi and her team. Andrew Watt is the producer, mediator and creative conduit. He produced the Rolling Stones’ Grammy winning album, “Hackney Diamonds.”

If you were wondering the real Kanyey West has never gone away.

He is still antisemitic and racist, posting and then deleting sick statements backing both Sean Puffy Diddy Combs and Chris Brown. He’s even revived his reviled “Slavery is a choice” slogan.

This is just a few days he paraded his wife, Bianca Censori, onto the Grammys red carpet naked, covered in a see through sheath.

Suddenly Kanye is obsessed with Diddy. You can see his posts below. Don’t be fooled, this man will not change. He is just as odious as he was last year and all the years before.

The reference to Diageo is the liquor company that disposed of Diddy as he was being charged and sued for multiple counts of rape and sexual violence.

These are just a couple of the deleted posts that appeared between 11pm and midnight tonight. Chris Brown, who just the Grammy for R&B Album of the Year, was arrested in 2009 for beating Rihanna the night before the Grammys. He served 5 years suspended sentence and community service.

Controversial “Emilia Perez” actor Karla Sofia Gascon has posted to Instagram that she will now be silent.

Gascon is at the center of a scandal involving her previously unknown racist tweets. The Tweets have ended her relationship with Netflix, their Oscar campaign, and director Jacques Audiard.

She “apologizes,” but doesn’t say for what and doesn’t recant her horrible Tweets that are anti-Muslim, anti-Asian, and just plain racist. The Tweets, uncovered by a free lance journalist, have caused a firestorm that have likely destroyed the film’s awards chances.

Chloe Zhao won the Oscar for directing “Nomadland,” the 2021 Best Picture at the Oscars. “Nomadland” was a work of art, something really original and fresh.

So now what? She’s going to develop and direct a revival of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

This is like going from the Baccarat table to the penny slots in Vegas. I don’t get it. Why would Zhao want to do this? (Answer: money.)

Prince Netflix Documentary Won’t Be Shown, But Streamer Will Replace It With Authorized Version

The Ezra Edelman-made six part, nine hour documentary series about Prince is dead.

Netflix and Prince’s Estate just announced the project is over. It will be replaced by an authorized film with material from the Prince archives.

I CAN TELL YOU EXCLUSIVELY that on Sunday I discussed the documentary with an insider who told me this very thing. They said that the Edelman film concentrated on Prince’s sex and drugs but not on his rock and roll.

“It made no sense,” said my source, “it was petty and no one would have watched it. It did nothing for Prince’s legacy.”

I was told that the documentary would never been seen.

Edelman won many awards for his doc series about OJ Simpson. It’s unclear if he will be involved in the new project, although I doubt it. The big question is, will anyone ever see the series he made?

The good news: there are hundreds if not thousands of unreleased songs being prepared for release.

The official announcement that the doc would be replaced also came with a video saying the Prince archive is now #Free. What form this freedom will take is anyone’s guess.

She’s not going.

She writes on X:

“Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner & Chair of @FEC. There’s a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn’t it. I’ve been lucky to serve the American people & stir up some good trouble along the way. That’s not changing anytime soon.”

Good for her!
