0

Lana del Rey just dropped a double video for two new songs. One is called “F— It, I Love You” and the other is “The Greatest.”

Lana’s new album, “Norman F—– Rockwell” comes out August 30th, just in time for the Grammy cut off. It was postponed to make way for Billie Eilish, who also sings in a little girl voice, and is younger.

But Lana prevails.

Miley Cyrus Admits Shocking Reason She Was Fired from “Hotel Transylvania” Movie in 2012 and Replaced by Selena Gomez

0

In 2012, Miley Cyrus was hired to voice a character in the animated film “Hotel Transylvania.” She was going to play voice Mavis, the daughter of Dracula (Adam Sandler), in the Sony Picture Animation production.

But before shooting began, she left and was replaced by singer Selena Gomez. No reason was given.

Now on Twitter today Miley admits she was fired. She writes: “I got kicked off hotel Transylvania for buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it.”

Cyrus was 19 at the time. This, and other extreme acts regarding sex, don’t seem very balanced or well considered. I know she was reacting to “Hannah Montana,” but at some point all of this quite bizarre.

MIley Cyrus Posts Long Statement on Divorce from Liam Hemsworth: “I have nothing to hide…I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating”

0

Miley Cyrus, 26, has posted a multi part Tweet to her fans and followers explaining herself re her divorce from Liam Hemsworth. This lady has guts, and she never holds back. Recently, she’s been in public making out with another woman, and there’ve been plenty of sightings of her carrying on, so to speak. Her long romantic history included a relationship with Hemsworth, a break up, a period of Twerking, posing nude, and doing drugs, followed by her make up with Hemsworth, going G rated, marrying the actor, declaring she was queer, and then these new developments.

Here’s what she says:

I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where i was when I was a younger. BUT at this point I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in a long time. You can say I am a twerking, pot smoking , foul mouthed hillbilly but I am not a liar.

I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will.

But the truth is, once Liam & I reconciled,I meant it, & I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here. I’ve learned from every experience in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP.

There are probably more nudes of me on the internet than maybe any woman in history.

I swung on a wrecking ball naked.

I got kicked off hotel Transylvania for buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it.

It is no secret that I was into partying in my teens and early 20’s. I have not only smoked, but advocated for weed, I’ve experimented with drugs, my biggest song to date is about dancing on molly and snorting lines in the bathroom.

I can accept that the life I’ve chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100% of the time. What I cannot accept is being told I’m lying to cover up a crime I haven’t committed. I have nothing to hide.

UPDATE: Michael Jackson’s Estate Says Ex-PR, Manager Raymone Bain Is Not Authorized to Use King of Pop’s Name for Any Purpose, Charitable or Commercial

RESPONSE FROM MICHAEL JACKSON ESTATE
Raymone Bain is not authorized to act on behalf of the Michael Jackson Estate nor to use Michael Jackson’s name in any way for charitable or her own commercial purposes.

Earlier:

Raymone Bain will not give up. Her fifteen minutes of fame thanks to Michael Jackson ended a decade ago but that won’t stop her from trying to cash in on Michael.

Today she announced she’s starting a new “foundation” called “MJ Legacy.” Michael’s Estate will shut this down before dinner.

I feel bad for Raymone, even with her crazy new hairdo. (See video.) She sued the Estate, she exploited  her association with Michael, she keeps looking for a way back in.

You’ll see from the video that there are few people at her press conference. Please, Raymone, stop this. It’s funny, granted, but don’t we have bigger issues in this world?

OMG– she says “Michael Jackson has been a victim over and over again.” Yes– and she’s the victimizer! LOL! She must leave this man and his family alone.

Oscars: Fox Searchlight Picks Up Much-Anticipated “David Copperfield” Starring Dev Patel from “Veep” Creator Amando Iannucci

0

Fox Searchlight hedged their Oscar bets today.

Now functioning with Disney, the FS label– which has a host of Oscar winners and nominees in the past– has to prove itself this fall.

So they’ve picked up Armando Iannucci’s “The Personal History of David Copperfield,” which is debuting at the Toronto Film Festival and then opening the London Film Festival. The updating of Charles Dickens’ famous novel stars Dev Patel, Tilda Swinton,Hugh Laurie, Peter Capaldi, Ben Whishaw, and Gwendolyn Christie.

FS says they’re planning a 2020 release, but if reaction in the US is strong, this could be one of their Oscar contenders. Certainly, the momentum would be there to go for a December release and shoot for awards.

Right now, FS is depending on Terrence Malick’s “A Hidden Life” to propel them into awards season. They’ve also got “Jojo Rabbit,” a satire from Taika Waititi that looks like “Springtime for Hitler.” It could be big, or a mistake. No one knows yet. Malick’s film was a hit in Cannes, but that’s with reviewers. FS will have to wait and see how it plays to audiences before dancing an Oscar jig.

“David Copperfield,” however, has all the provenance for the Oscars. Plus, “Veep” is going to sweep at the Emmys, so Iannucci will be in the news. By the looks of it, “Copperfield” could have been a Miramax Oscar entry without question. Harvey would have loved that one (except he’d have put Judi Dench in it).

So here we go. Pulses are quickening. The season is about to begin.

Taylor Swift Says She Plans on Re-recording Her Albums, But It Won’t Work, And Here’s Why– And What She Can Do

0

The media lemmings are out today.

A two line moment from Tracy Smith’s interview with Taylor Swift on “CBS Sunday Morning” this weekend has every outlet blaring: “Taylor Swift to re-record her albums!”

Uh, no, she’s not.

Smith asked Swift about Scooter Braun buying her label, Big Machine, and her catalog of albums. Swift has already said she was duped– ridiculous– but actually just outbid. Braun didn’t buy her publishing, just the records she’s made– the masters.

Well, you know what? Prince tried to re-record his catalog. It won’t work. The versions that are out there are now the standards. Radio, streaming, etc– it can’t be replaced with new versions. Won’t work. And it’s cost prohibitive. Otherwise, everyone would do it.

Taylor, this is what you do: you record a live album of hits. If they’re different enough, in time those versions will stick on playlists.

Re-records have been a common practice in rock and roll for decades. Artists have always done that. The NY Post just ran a story saying that it’s against a contract or something. That’s hooey. There’s no such thing.

The fact is, fans want the record they first bought. Prince found that out the hard way.

Listen, I sympathize with Taylor. But really, the deal is out of her hands. She should make peace with Scooter Braun to maximize her catalog. In time, she can record lots of versions of “Shake it Off” and all the hits, and believe me, she will. In ten years, when her fan base has aged out, that’s exactly what she’ll be doing, like every other artist. How many times do you think Paul McCartney has re-recorded “Let it Be”?

Morgan Spurlock is Back with “Super Size Me 2” 15 Years After He Went After McDonalds, Now It’s Fast Food Chicken

0

Morgan Spurlock is back, and he’s going after fast food again. It’s 15 years since “Super Size Me” made him a star. Now “SS2: Holy Chicken” goes after the poultry world — the chickens that come through Drive Thru windows. I always worry about the Nuggets, and I guess now we’ll know why. “SS2” isn’t going to festivals, oddly. It’s just opening on September 6th in NY and LA from Samuel Goldwyn.

Woody Allen’s Long Delayed “Rainy Day in New York” Chosen to Open Deauville Film Festival

0

The French have come to the rescue!

Woody Allen’s “A Rainy Day in New York” has been chosen to open the prestigious Deauville Film Festival on September 6th. This is great news for a film that’s been long delayed by lawsuits and other ridiculous impairments.

It won’t be hard for Woody to attend the opening. He’s right next door, in Spain, making a new film with Christoph Waltz and Gina Gershon.

“Rainy Day” stars Timothee Chalamet and Elle Fanning. It’s unclear if any of the cast will come to Deauville. But having Woody there will be enough star power.

This was the movie Amazon Studios was supposed to release. But then the #MeToo scandals broke, and Woody was incorrectly swept into the melee. His last film, “Wonder Wheel,” suffered because of it, and then Amazon just gave up on him. Woody has sued them for $68 million for breach of contract.

“Rainy Day” opens in France in mid September. It’s already started opening across Europe. We’re waiting for a smart American distributor to pick it up.

(Watch) Surprise Second Trailer for Brad Pitt in “Ad Astra” Shows Gorgeous Visuals, Delineates Father-Son Story

0

James Gray’s “Ad Astra” is coming, and fast, like a meteor about to hit Earth. We have now have a surprise second trailer for the Brad Pitt- Liv Tyler- Tommy Lee Jones- Donald Sutherland space opera. The space visuals are very, very cool, and now the trailer really delineates the father- son relationship. Can this be Brad Pitt’s Oscar time? Everyone hopes so. It’s important for “Ad Astra,” one of the last films from 20th Century Fox, to be a hit. But there is a fear that this will be “First Man” all over again– great reviews, highly respected, and then no audience. Cross fingers against that. (And watch “First Man,” a great movie.)

Divorce! Sony Splits with Disney Over Spider Man, Separating Peter Parker Once Again from Marvel Universe

0

Spider Man is an orphan once again, and Tom Holland, the current Peter Parker, could be out of a job.

Sony Pictures apparently refused to make a 50/50 deal with Disney-Marvel over the latter’s participation going forward with Spider Man movies. The result is that Spider Man will return to Sony without his Marvel buddies, to start his own universe. The Avengers, with whom Spider Man has been involved now for several movies including the colossus “Endgame,” will go on without him.

For eons, Spider Man had been parked at Sony getting his own movies. Then the Marvel Universe took off at Disney. The studios reached an agreement so that Spider Man could be part of the Marvel gang in Disney movies. The Marvel characters then appeared, at last, in the recent two Spider Man movies starring Tom Holland. Disney was paid a small fee for the exchange.

But now according to reports Marvel’s Kevin Feige– who waved a magic wand over Spider Man: Homecoming, and Far From Home — will not continue to work with Sony’s Tom Rothman or the studio. He’s out. Reports say Rothman wouldn’t even talk to Disney.

“Far from Home” has turned out to be Sony’s highest grossing movie ever. Sony should be sending thank you notes to Feige. After all, the last set of Spider Man movies did not work out so well. But now Sony has called for a divorce. It’s not going to end well.

Disney-Marvel and Feige must be shocked. They weaved Spider Man into their films as the successor to Robert Downey, Jr.’s Iron Man. That plot line and character arc is now gone. At Sony, their choice will be whether to proceed with Tom Holland in more movies, or cut him loose and start over again. Sony has a history of killing the Spider Man franchise when it’s successful. They did it to Tobey Maguire when they replaced with Andrew Garfield. Now they may do it again.

Don’t worry about Tom Holland. He’s 23, loaded, and very talented. The world is his oyster. But for Marvel movie fans, it’s a big loss.
