UPDATED Rolling Stones New Album “Hackney Diamonds” and Single “Angry” Will Be Announced September 6th

0

UPDATED The fall looks very promising now.

Keith Richards says the new Rolling Stones album, called “Hackney Diamonds,” will be announced next Tuesday. A clip of the first single, called “Angry,” was also released.

We already know many stars make cameos including ex Stones Bill Wyman and (UPDATED no Mick Taylor,) plus Paul McCartney and (UPDATED no Ringo Starr). There are no doubt others, including the last playing of drums by the late great Charlie Watts. As I exclusively reported, the Stones finished recording in the Bahamas this past spring.

Will the album include their pandemic hit, “Living in a Ghost Town”? No, says a source. And does this mean another US tour? Again, fingers crossed!

Exclusive: Superstar Dick van Dyke, 97, Is Not the Oldest Actor on “Days of Our Lives” (See Who He Plays)

0

You may have heard that legendary actor Dick van Dyke has joined the cast of “Days of our Lives” for a short run.

DvD is 97 years old, so you’d think he was the oldest actor on the show. LOL. Not so. Bill Hayes, who’s 98. has been playing Doug Williams since 1970.

Pretty amazing. The reason DvD is on the show is because he works out at a Malibu gym. That’s where he met longtime “Days” star Drake Hogestyn, who plays John Black. van Dyke says he asked Hogestyn if he could get some work on his show! Haha! Why not? And you know. the strikes don’t effect soap actors. So van Dyke is safe.

Who does he play? SPOILER ALERT. He plays Hogestyn’s long lost father. His character, John Black, has had numerous fathers over the last almost 40 years. Fans have lost track by this time, and soaps rewrite history every day. Of course, the character could have taken a blood test or DNA sample, even gone on 23andMe. But now he’s going to call Rob Petrie “daddy.”

I had the pleasure of interviewing van Dyke a couple of years ago. He is a superstar. The Peacock soap opera is lucky to get him. Since we have no idea what streaming ratings are, we can only hope this helps the show’s numbers.

Taylor Swift Concert Movie Scores $26 Mil in One Day Pre-Sales, Sends AMC Stock Skyrocketing

0

Folklore is one way of putting it.

The story one day of Taylor Swift as a moneymaker, forget musical artists, will be legendary.

When Swift’s “Eras” tour movie was announced yesterday. her fans went crazy. AMC Theaters sold $26 million worth of tickets in one day pre-sales. Exhibitor Relations is predicting a $100 million opening weekend beginning October 13th.

For AMC, this is a remarkable turn of events. Their stock has risen 3.5% so far today, up $2 a share. And the day isn’t over! Look here for updates this afternoon.

Other studios are now moving their films off the October 13th weekend because they can see the Swift tsunami coming fast.

How AMC pulled off this coup is the real story. They got Swift’s people to bypass a studio distribution and just do it themselves. AMC theaters will be flooded with young people for days on end, buying popcorn and soda, and maybe checking out other movies, too.

Bravo!

Trump Rattled: Goes After NY Attorney General Letitia James With Same Post Three Times After Accusation He Lied About Net Worth

0

Donald Trump is really rattled by New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Before she even gets to Trump’s trial, James is suing Trump saying he over inflated his net value by $2.2 billion in order to get big loans at favorable rates.

Trump’s civil trial begins in October. James’s goal: to keep Trump him and his trio of adult children from running the Trump Organization, and to require him to pay a fine of around $250 million.

On Wednesday, James argued that a trial is not necessary to find that Trump et al inflated the value of their assets in company financial statements.
James says in a a court filing that Trump lied and said his net worth was more than it was by between $812 million and $2.2 billion each year over the course of a ten years.

Are we surprised that he’s lied about his net worth? No. In New York, we know the real story. And the reveal of that is what scares him — enough that he posted the below no less than three different times this morning on his social media.

Taylor Swift Inevitable Eras Tour Movie Coming in October, Clocks in Just Under Three Hours (See Trailer)

0

Taylor Swift is releasing her inevitable Eras Tour movie in October. Total run time is a whopping two hours, forty five minutes. AMC the theater chain is distributing the movie itself, bypassing studios. AMC is in brutal financial shape. This seems like a Hail Mary pass to save themselves.

With the film, directed by Sam Wrench, comes a slew of merchandise, of course.

The real story about Taylor Swift is her marketing. It’s impeccable. Every single move is thought out to the nth degree. The design element, the amount of t shirts and jewelry and LPs and CDs and so on.

The “Eras” movie will coincide with the release of yet another re-recorded album, this one “1989,” following a series of albums which Swift reclaimed from her original records. And you know, there has to be a new album looming in there as well.

The Eras tour has generated hundreds of millions of dollars selling out stadiums and arenas everywhere. Swift has also sold around 10 million albums this year because of the tour and the marketing.

PS A live album is sure to follow, or to accompany the film which I guess will be thrown into the Oscar documentary mix as well. A cereal should be next, and then a Swift Oreo!

Trump Goes Kanye, Posts More than 2 Dozen Short Video Speeches at Once, Baits Rupert Murdoch, Calling Him a “Globalist”

Donald Trump has gone the way of Kanye West when he’s off his meds.

Trump, very orange, has posted more than 2 dozen short video declarations of around a minute in length. He attacks everyone — Rupert Murdoch, Joe Biden, the court system, and so on. He calls Murdoch a “Globalist” who’s backing Ron DeSantis in the Wall Street Journal, which he owns.

This is not the way to make friends and influence people.

With the corona virus on the upswing, Trump also vows, “To every COVID tyrant who wants to take away our Freedom, hear these words—WE WILL NOT COMPLY!”

Trump actually writes, “Does anybody really believe I lost Georgia? I DON’T!”

Yes, you Bozo. You lost Georgia. Everyone believes it because it’s true. The only people who don’t believe it will be arraigned on September 6th in Atlanta — including you– for trying to interfere with the election.

RIP Nancy Buirski, Famed Documentary Filmmaker, Director of “The Loving Story,” Founder of Full Frame Doc Fest

0

It’s with great sadness that I report the sudden passing of Nancy Biurski, beloved and famed documentary filmmaker.

Nancy was a great friend and enthusiastic cheerleader of everyone’s projects but her own were quite extraordinary. She made “The Loving Story” in 2011 which became the feature film, “Loving,” in 2016. She was the founder of the Full Frame Documentary Festival in North Carolina. Her most recent film, “Desperate Souls, Dark City and the Legend of Midnight Cowboy,” was highly acclaimed and nominated for several prizes at the 2022 Venice Film Festival.

Biurski graduated from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York magna cum laude. Until the mid-1990s, she worked as a photographer and picture editor in the international department of The New York Times. She was the reason the Times won its first ever Pulitzer for feature photography. In 1994, her image selection of a photo taken by Kevin Carter, which showed a half-starved Sudanese child, resulted in the newspaper winning its first Pulitzer Prize for feature photo reporting.

Condolences to her family and her huge circle of friends and fans. Nancy was one of those people I always looked forward to seeing at screenings and events for serious filmmaking. That smile in the picture I chose is worth a thousand glowing words. We’ve really lost someone of substance, value, and great kindness. She will be sorely missed.

Telluride Film Fest Announces List, Didn’t Get Big Oscar Films “Killers of the Flower Moon” or “Maestro”

0

The Telluride Film Festival has announced its list as customers and critics begin to descend on them for the traditional weekend.

Telluride has some good films but they’re missing Martin Scorsese’s great “Killers of the Flower Moon” and the potentially terrific “Maestro” from Bradley Cooper. They’re the two Oscar buzzy films of the season.

Will there be a breakout film at Telluride? There better be since the cost of being there can easily get to $10,000 including airfare, accommodations, and the press pass (nothing is free).

Many of these films will be at the Toronto Film Festival in a week, and then the New York Film Festival. And so on. I did see “Zone of Interest” in Cannes and was not excited but you will see a lot of groupthinkers raving about it. (They should show it in museums, not theaters.)

And so it all begins again!

Lunacy: Tucker Carlson Interviews Hungarian Dictator Orban, Who Says Donald Trump “Can Save the Western World and Probably the Human Beings in the World as Well”

0

Maybe we’re living in an alternate universe after all.

It’s only in such a place that a former US president would be endorsed by an Eastern European dictator in a video interview conducted by a fired former talking head of a bogus right wing TV network.

And that’s how we come to Tucker Carlson’s sit down with Hungarian authoritarian Viktor Orban. In this clip, which was shown on Twitter X, Orban says Donald Trump can save the western world, and praises his foreign policy.

And Trump himself is thrilled. He thanks Orban when presenting the clip on his social media.

We’re in a backwards world. How could this be happening? It’s not just insanity, it’s lunacy. If you voted for this man or intend to in the future, you need a wellness check.

The whole incredible interview is here:

Monday Cable Ratings: Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell Take Hannity, Gutfeld in MSNBC-Fox Rivalry

0

Monday cable ratings were not unlike every Monday.

At 9pm MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow easily beat Hannity by 400,000 viewers. At 10pm, Lawrence O’Donnell took Greg Gutfeld.

The Maddow-O’Donnell combo on Monday continues to play a winning hand. They also sweep when there’s a big actual news story.

The rest of prime went to Fox News over MSNBC. I hate to say it but Chris Hayes and Joy Reid have have the weakest numbers even if their shows are eminently watchable.

Jesse Watters on Fox had th highest key demo numbers of the night. I guess his audience dug it when he declared last week that Trump looked “hard” in his mugshot. Watters admonished his fans that was also straight. I just read these things, I have no idea what is going on there.

MSNBC needs Maddow more and more. Next week I’m sure we’ll see her on September 6th for the group arraignment in Atlanta.
