Was It Worth It? Jada Pinkett Smith Sold Just 21,611 Copies of Book That Lays Waste to Her Marriage

0

Whatever Jada Pinkett Smith was paid couldn;t have been worth it.

The total number of copies sold of “Worthy,” Jada’s tell all diatribe, sold just 21,611 copies last week. It finished at number 6, according to Circana BookScan.

Pinkett Smith laid waste to her marriage and family, created genuine hostility among readers and fans of Will Smith. She revealed everything, did every piece of media available, and sold a tiny number of books compared to other big names.

This week, Jada will be outsold by possibly 10 times by Britney Spears, who also threw everyone under the bus. The difference is– and believe me, I don’t know why — more people cared about Britney than Jada, who’s had it made for decades. One reason might be that Jada had already aired her dirty laundry on her talk show, so this was just a re-confirmation that she could humiliate everyone around her.

Trump Doubles and Triples Down Against DC Judge Chutkan After She Reimposes Gag Order: Does He Want to Go to Jail?

0

I’ve said it before but it does seem like Donald Trump wants to go to jail.

Judge Tanya Chutkan reimposed her gag order against him yesterday. This sent Trump into a frenzy overnight and this morning. He continues to attack her, testing the limit of her patience.

Maybe Trump thinks his base will riot if he’s imprisoned. But they’ve seen already all the January 6th players go to jail, and Trump didn’t help them. The base is not going to care what happens to Trump. No one will be visiting him with cake baked with a file inside. Not even Melania!

Roger Waters, Political Pariah, Sold Around Just 13,000 Copies of His Re-recorded “Dark Side of the Moon”

0

Here was an idea: Roger Waters, once part of Pink Floyd, decided to re-record Dark Side of the Moon.

The album by Pink Floyd was number 1 for most of 1973 and has remained a top 10 catalog item for 50 years.

Waters, long gone from Floyd, and a political pariah by choice, was part of the writing and recording of the original. He’s never had a solo hit. So why not just make a new version of the old hit?

Turns out, no one wanted it. Roger Waters’ “Dark Side of the Moon” has sold around 10,000 copies, with the equivalent in streaming of maybe 3,000 more. The original album has sold more than 13 million copies.

It’s a matter of Us vs. Him, to paraphrase a hit song from the record. Waters over the last decade has become a virulent and outspoken antisemite. He’s dressed up as Hitler on stage. He’s railed against Israel and caused his former bandmates to turn against him. They’re also angry because it’s Waters’ fault they can’t sell their song catalog, which was valued six months ago at $500 million.

Now, Waters is literally on the dark side of everything. He was banned from speaking at UPenn recently. He’s been denounced in Germany, where they tried stop one of his concerts. Once a popular rock star emeritus, Waters is now social poison.

So much for the remade “Dark Side.” Go back to the original.

Watch Actor Hank Azaria’s Moving Tribute to Matthew Perry: “We drank a lot together, we laughed a lot together”

“The Simpsons” and “The Birdcage” actor Hank Azaria has posted a moving tribute to Matthew Perry.

“A lot of us who loved him thought we’d lost him to drugs and alcohol a long time ago.”

So sorry for his loss, and ours.

Matthew Perry’s Tragic Death Sends 2022 Autobiography Back to the Top of Amazon Best Sellers

0

Death sells, we’ve certainly learned that much over the years.

Now Matthew Perry’s autobiography has zoomed back to the top of the best seller list.

“Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing” is number 2 on amazon right now following Perry’s untimely and tragic death. Fans will be scouring it for mentions of death, and there are plenty. Perry had a mordant sense of humor, he was sarcastic and glib and maybe a little weary of his long fight with addiction. As it turns out, the book was his way of saying goodbye.

Perry wrote in the book:

“I don’t want to die. I’m scared to die.” He embraced his sobriety, which is what makes his death so more painful to two generations that grew up on Chandler Bing and his facial tics and splendidly comic reactions to situations.

“Friends, Lovers” may actually knock Britney Spears’ book off the top spot by the end of the day. There are no more revelations to be had from that book except the story how she dictated it to ghost writer Sam Lansky.

Box Office: “Freddy’s” Scares Up $78 Mil, Taylor Swift Comes ThisClose, “Flower Moon” Needs Strike to End NOW

0

If you were a Halloween or horror fan, this weekend was a good time.

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” scared up $78 million at the box office. It’s quite a comeback for its two stars, Matthew Lillard, and Josh Hutcherson. They must be opening Champagne as we speak. Jason Blum is certainly the king of horror among producers.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour movie came thisclose to crossing the $150 million line today. The big event will happen on Tuesday, Halloween, when prices are just $13.13. Swift is also set to sell around 1.4 million copies of her “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” album this week. She’ll be the first artist to sell over a million copies of the same album twice in its first week since the original “1989” did the same thing.

Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” needs the SAG strike to be over NOW. Scorsese has done all the press humanly possible for one person. The actors need to get on the circuit as “Flower Moon” has gotten to $40.8 million in two weeks. This should motivate Apple and Paramount to endorse settling with the union ASAP. This is a masterpiece of a film, and it must be seen on a big screen!

Does NBC Know When the SAG Strike Ends? Timothee Chalamet is Booked to Host Next “SNL”

0

NBC must know something we don’t. They’ve booked Timothee Chalamet for “SNL” on November 11th.

Chalamet is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, which is on strike. As a member of SAG, Chalamet would be prevented from promoting his new Warner Bros. movie, “Wonka,” which opens December 15th.

“SNL” cast members are under a different contract than regular SAG. They are allowed to work on the show. Actors under the main contract cannot promote their projects. (That’s how Christopher Walken made it on tonight– just for fun.) If the strike isn’t over, it’s hard to believe Chalamet could appear as host of “SNL.”

But maybe NBC and Lorne Michaels know something we don’t. They’ve also got Michael Shannon booked for Jimmy Fallon on Monday. I guess he could chew it up with Jimmy on various topics not attached to movie or TV projects. But Chalamet’s hosting would certainly be more problematic.

Hey — it’s good news that NBC and Warner Bros, the “Wonka” studio, think it will all be over by November 11th.

Britney Spears May Have a Second Book Coming Out, or Not: Announced Then Deleted Tease

Now that Britney Spears has thoroughly trashed Justin Timberlake in her book, who’s next?

We may find out soon. On Saturday, Britney teased a follow up book in 2024. Then she deleted the post.

In part 2 of “The Woman In Me,” she may really dig into her marriages, her parents, the sons she doesn’t see, and the managers who participated in her conservatorship. But blurting it out on Instagram may have been premature, at least for her editors and lawyers, not to mention ghost writer Sam Lansky.

Lansky, you know, wrote the book from interviews with Spears. She’s too dancing with knives, if not wolves.

Mid week we’ll find out how many copies “The Woman in Me” sold. It’s been number 1 all week on Amazon.

Matthew Perry’s Final Social Media Post Leaves an Eerie Legacy, Foreshadow of Death

0

Matthew Perry’s final social media post on Instagram is something we can’t ignore.

Someone took a picture of him in his infinity pool at night staring up at the sky, wearing headphones.

“Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good?” he wrote. “I’m Mattman.”

Perry’s death is really tragic. There’s an outpouring of love for him on Twitter X and everywhere else. I guess we should be glad he wrote the book and that there was a go-round where he was able to explain himself before he left.

Now, the tabloids take over. Duck.

“Friends” Star Matthew Perry Found Dead at 54, Possible Drowning in Jacuzzi, Battled Drugs, Addiction

0

Matthew Perry has died at age 54.

TMZ says the “Friends” star drowned in his jacuzzi. They also say no drugs were found around him.

Perry battled many addictions, substance and otherwise. He wrote a wry, telling autobiography last year and said he’d finally overcome his demons.

During “Friends,” Perry’s weight and appearance zig zagged back and forth as he tried to film the hit show without missing an episode. He co-starred with David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow.

Perry had no success beyond “Friends” once the show was over despite some efforts. He starred in a half baked adaptation of “The Odd Couple” on TV, and wrote an off Broadway play that he also starred in. The book brought him back to the spotlight but since then not much had been heard from him.

What a shame. He was so quick witted and witty, with great comic timing. His friends obviously loved him but he could not rise above his illnesses. Watching “Friends” reruns will never be the same.
