Mariah Carey Divorce: Watch the Nick Cannon Interview that Ended it All

1

What ended Mariah Carey’s marriage to Nick Cannon? In this interview Nick gave in March, he ticked off a list of women he’d slept with including Kim Kardashian and Nicole Scherzinger. He also described how he lost his virginity at age 13. The normally smart Nick over spoke, and in the process lost his family.

It didn’t help that he also discussed the fact that he and Mariah didn’t consummate their relationship until their wedding night. You can only imagine Mariah’s reaction after this completely vulgar display. It just gets worse and worse. Mariah would not ever want her kids to see this.

Nick also knocks Chelsea Handler and supports Eminem, one of Mariah’s infamous enemies. Maybe he knew divorce was next. “It’s obvious you’re going to need a place to stay,” Big Boy tells Nick at the end.

Mariah Carey’s Dying Marriage Explains Why “Chanteuse” Album Collapsed

0

Mariah Carey’s marriage to Nick Cannon appears to be over, after a week or so of gossip items flushed out the truth. Nick apparently gave an interview to Paramount TV’s “The Insider” in which he admits the couple has been living apart for some time.

And that’s weird because Carey spoke to a mutual friend last night, gave no indication anything was wrong, and Cannon– father of her three year old twins– was at her place.

But the couple’s split does explain why Mariah’s “Elusive Chanteuse” album collapsed with just 100,000 copies in sales. After an initial week of presss, Mariah just let the album die. She didn’t do any more publicity and lost interest in the proceedings.

Now it seems obvious she was overwhelmed by personal problems in May as the album dropped. What a shame– she got great reviews for it, too. But the album’s success was as elusive as its title.

Mariah’s next move is a tour of the Far East doing concerts for the entire month of October. She’ll take Roc and Ro with her. I gather by the time she returns, her second marriage will be on the history books.

In the end, my guess is Mariah and Nick will remain on good terms. But the age difference– 15 years– was just too much. Cannon is 33 years old and sowing his wild oats as his career is in full gear. Mariah can get back to focusing on her career, and of course, the kids.

Scientology Making TV Commercials to Lure In New Recruits

1

The so called Church of Scientology doesn’t give up. They want new recruits despite all the bad press they’ve received here and abroad. Now they’re going to make some commercials for TV and the internet to lure in new recruits.

What’s weird is that considering all the actors they’ve brought in through the Celebrity Center in Hollywood, Scientology is going outside their own people to find actors.  I guess Tom Cruise and John Travolta are too expensive. They are using regular Scientology casting directors however, Valerie Light and Marie Bystrom.

The commercials are non union, of course, no SAG or AFTRA. They’re looking for a guy and a girl each in their 20s who will seem “hipsterish.” The girl is Beautiful, ”Ascendance-type girl”, ”Anthropologie-model look” walking down the streets of New York and going on the subway… Wardrobe: casual…”

The guy is “20 – 25: Hipster/grunge guy living his life in style he is creating – we see him walking down thestreets of New York and spending time in a library…”

I’m told the casting call says that the actors will get $300 a day and “no residuals.”

George Clooney Wedding: Around Lake Como, Everyone Speculates

0

“You’d think they were royalty.” I’ve heard that a lot this week around Como, Italy about local movie star George Clooney and his fiancee Amal Alamuddin. I’ve also heard that they’re getting married next week, next month, “the end of this month,” in Venice, right here in Como, or up at George’s house along the upper part of Lake Como.

One actual fact: it won’t be this month. Clooney is busy in the U.S. with a project. Also, Como is teeming with tourists.Every hotel is booked, the funicular is full, and there isn’t enough gelato to go around. (Actually there is– too much.)

At the legendary and amazing Villa D’Este, where I had lunch yesterday, no one knows a thing. The manicured grounds would be the perfect location for a star studded wedding, certainly. Beautiful people swan around. The heads of international banks take strolls. The sun glistens on a floating pool right on the lake.

Villa D’Este may be the most beautiful (and expensive) location within 100 miles of Clooney’s estate. But the very nice people there say they’re booked and haven’t had a word.

Around Como and its environs, pictures of George Clooney are hung in many establishments, from tabacs to 4 star restaurants. I asked in one place, “Does he come here?” The answer: no.

George does hang out at Harry’s Bar in Cernobbio, down river from his home. But he hasn’t been seen there in a while and no engagement parties are being planned.

At Villa D’Este they have a theory: the wedding is in England.

If only we could wait around and see. But Como means “we want all your money” in Italian. So we’ll have to hear about it from afar…

Shocker EXCLUSIVE! NFL Commish Roger Goodell Made $44Mil Last Year– $15Mil Increase!

0

EXCLUSIVE Wow! Here’s a shocker update: Roger Goodell, commissioner of the National Football League, made $44 million last year.

That’s a $15 million increase over 2011-12, when he was paid just $29.5 million.

The NFL filed their Form 990 Federal Tax Return on February 18, 2014, just 16 days after the Super Bowl in New York.

Now this news comes as the Wall Street Journal reports that the NFL wants Coldplay, Rihanna, and or Katy Perry to pay them to play at next February’s SuperBowl. Are they kidding? Goodell could underwrite the whole thing and not notice it.

If I were the reps of those rock acts, I’d just say No thanks.

Goodell wasn’t the only NFL exec who made out last year. Steve Bornstein, Executive Vice President of Media, made $26.5 million.

And get this: even though the NFL claimed revenue increased by $75 million from 2012 to 2013, they gave away approximately $1 million LESS in 2013 to charitable organizations than they had in 2012.

Talk about Viva la vida! Chris Martin, think twice. Roar? Like a lion, Katy. Diamonds? Ask for them, Rihanna. But pay the NFL? LOL. (Really, I’m gobsmacked. $44 million! For what?)

The NFL listed total salaries at $102 million. This means Goodell and Bornstein get more than half the total. Two guys. $66 million.

NFL Wants Rock Stars to Pay Them? Remember, They’re a Not for Profit, CEO Gets $30Mil

The Wall Street Journal reports that the NFL wants rock stars to pay them to play half time at the Super Bowl.

Wait a second! This is the same National Football League that claims it’s a 501 c6, not for profit organization. Their CEO Roger Goodell makes $30 million a year.

That NFL? Throwback Thursday begins now:

I told you about 19 year old Australian pop star Troye Sivan about ten days ago. His then unreleased EP hit number 1 on iTunes. The five track album was finally released last Friday, Ausut 15th, in the middle of the sales week. Called “Tryxe,” the EP sold 28,600 Friday through Monday and debuted on the charts today at number 5. Not bad! Now it’s up to Capitol Records to see what they can do this week. The kid has done all his own social networking from Oz. He was signed to EMI International, and was put with Capitol. Now they’ve got him installed at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood. Here we go!

Clintons Have Family Dinner in Hamptons While John McCain, Chris Christie Dance with Rich Dems

0

More news from last Saturday night in the Hamptons: Bill and Hillary Clinton dined with pregnant daughter Chelsea and her husband Marc at Sotta Sopra in Amagansett. This was about as far as they could get from Revlon chairman Ron Perelman’s house called The Creeks, in Wainscott, right next door to Georgica restaurant, where he was busy entertaining Republicans John McCain and Chris Christie.

Indeed, most of the guests at Perelman’s house would have preferred mixing with the Clintons at Perelman’s benefit for Harlem’s Apollo Theater. Certainly Perelman’s having McCain and Christie over the Clintons is considered a snub on so many levels. After all, Bill Clinton is very identified with Harlem, where the Apollo is located. It’s doubtful either McCain or Christie has ever been in that neighborhood, let alone at the Apollo.

Interesting: most of his Democratic leaning rock and roll friends in New York probably don’t know this but Perelman has donated quite a bit of money in the least couple of years to Republican candidates. They include McCain himself, Kentucky senator Mitch McConnell, South Carolina Sen. Lindsay Graham, and something called the Prairie PAC. Perelman donated $4,800 to the Republican Party of Kentucky in March of this year.

What’s all the interest in Kentucky? If anyone knows, drop me a line.

Conde Nast Selling Womens Wear Daily, Fairchild to Penske Media

0

There’s a new media mogul in town. Jay Penske is buying Women’s Wear Daily, aka WWD, and Fairchild Publications from Conde Nast. The price is said to be $100 million. Penske already owns Variety and a group of websites that includes Deadline.com. Now the 35 year old becomes an overnight media mogul as he adds more prestigious titles to his holdings at Penske Media.

Conde Nast will hold on to W Magazine, which was a spin off from WWD. Conde had bought Fairchild from Disney in 1999 for $650 million. But Conde has its own problems as all print mags struggle with advertising and relevance. The web has significantly destroyed print. Unloading Fairchild’s trade publications is a smart idea for them. And Penske has really developed as an online presence. Adding WWD makes sense as Penske makes  inroads into the fashion world is a natural step.

Hamptons Political Confusion as Clintons Skip Apollo Benefit Attended by McCain and Christie

0

t was a confusing political night at Revlon chairman Ron Perelman’s Creeks on Saturday. The annual benefit for the Apollo Theater sent out a lot of weird signals despite great music by Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Pharrell, the Roots, and actual Apollo legend Gladys Knight.

Guests at the Apollo event were Republicans Chris Christie and John McCain, neither of whom has ever shown one iota of interest in the Apollo or its legacy or Harlem.

Not at the event was Bill Clinton or wife Hillary even though Clinton has been a long time supporter of Harlem and the Apollo. The Clintons are staying in the Hamptons, too. Hillary had a book signing in East Hampton on Saturday.

Very surprised is what Barbra Streisand must have been as she and husband James Brolin were lured to the Perelman party probably thinking they were among Clinton supporters. But Barbra doesn’t mix with the McCain or Christie worlds.

Pro-Israel advocate Streisand couldn’t have been too thrilled to see Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters at the Perelman benefit. Indeed, what could Perelman have been thinking? Waters has been railing against Israel very publicly for a couple of years now.

Also at the event: former lovers Anjelica Huston and Jack Nicholson. Last year the pair showed up, separately, at Larry Gagosian’s party for Clive Davis. Anjelica is getting ready to publish part two of her memoir, called “Watch Me.”

Due November 11th, the book details at length — 384 pages– Huston’s path to an Oscar for “Prizzi’s Honor” and her long complicated relationship with Nicholson.
