Christopher Nolan’s 2014 “Interstellar” Is a Hit Again: $6.5 Mil in 4 Days of Limited Release

Share

Well, well.

If people really want to see a movie, they will go after all.

Christopher Nolan’s space opera, “Interstellar,” has been raking in money since it was put into limited release on Friday.

In four days, the Matthew McConaughey-Anne Hathaway-Jessica Chastain-Michael Caine hit has made $6.5 million in just 165 theaters.

On Monday, it was the number 4 film at the box office.

Why? “Interstellar” is a big movie like Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” It’s soup to nuts (and a little nuts) with time and space travel, an emotional plot, and lots of stars.

Mainly, it’s an event. “Interstellar” was not raved about when it came out — only 73% on Rotten Tomatoes — but it’s a big entertainment, something that’s missing this holiday season once everyone’s seen “Wicked” and “Gladiator II.”
