Well, on a bad, bad day here’s some really nice news.
The wonderful Tamara Tunie, star of “Law & Order” and “As the World Turns,” has been named a trustee by Carnegie Mellon University.
There isn’t a nicer, more talented, achieving person in the world, and she deserves all kudos. I am really thrilled for her.
Tamara is a familiar face to TV audiences. For years, she played the medical examiner, Dr. Melinda Warner, on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” and attorney Jessica Griffin, on the daytime drama “As the World Turns.” For many seasons, she overlapped on the two shows, and on two different networks.
She also appeared on “NYPD Blue” and the first season of Fox’s “24.” She has also guest-starred in many other television series, including “Sex and the City,” “The Good Wife” and “Better Call Saul,” among others. On the movie screen, Tunie most notably played the key supporting role of Margaret Thomason in “Flight.”
Tamara graduated from Carnegie Mellon in 1981. In addition to all those acting credits, she is also a tireless producer and activist for the theater in New York. Tamara really is a force of nature. She can do anything. For example, she most recently sang Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile” during CMU’s Virtual Conferral of Degrees ceremony on May 19. She just hosted the show below:

George Conway: it’s hard to imagine he lives with his wife, Kellyanne, in the same building let alone the same county. Conway is famous for being 180 degrees apart from the shrewish idiotic presidential spokeswoman.

Madonna is upset about the killing of George Floyd by four policemen in Minneapolis. It’s understandable. But her response is over the top and awful, making things so much worse with a final declaration of “Fuck the police!” What followed that post is Madonna’s adopted teenage son, David Banda, dancing to Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Care About Us,” a song that when it was initially released carried an anti-Semitic epithet that had to be expunged from broadcast versions but remains in some iterations. Someone’s just got to stop her from posting anymore to Instagram until she thinks through what this all means. She’s losing more points than she’s gaining. Also, while David is certainly a good dancer, and I know his intentions are pure, the sight of him expressing himself in political dance in Madonna’s expensive kitchen with a French bulldog in the background is a crazy juxtaposition of messages, isn’t it?
