Mariska Hargitay’s Dreadful NBC Emmys Show (Not Her Fault) Down 10% in Ratings from Last Year, Awards May Move to Amazon Prime

0

Monday night we might have seen the final Emmy Awards on network TV.

There are reports that Amazon Prime, which only won 3 Emmys this month, is going to start hosting the show.

It may be just in time.

The Mariska Hargitay hosted show was a bust in the ratings, down 10% from last year to 6.7 million viewers.

It’s a horrendous number but not surprising. With a lot of competition, the Emmys came off pretty badly — poorly produced and written (sorry, Colbert team). They lacked and buzz or hip factor. Almost uniformly the presenters were dull and the winners weren’t much better.

The highlights: John Mulaney telling a dirty joke, Sally Field giving an impassioned speech. Nicole Kidman being a good sport. Michael J. Fox, a hero. You know things are bad when the In Memoriam is the best part of the night.

Hargitay had about 40 glam costume and wig changes. I guess this was her way of finally looking hot after three decades in drab police garb. She deserved this gift from NBC. What we learned: she can’t sing. And where was Christopher Meloni? Also, her Taylor Swift film was odd. But you know Mariska is a good egg.

The Emmys are there own worst enemy. I gave up on the Television Academy years ago. Shows used to be cool — Mad Men, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad. The late great Ronnie Lippin did the PR and made sure the press was enthusiastic about the event. But no one’s cared in a long time, and these are the results: no viewers, streaming.

There were appropriate complaints that all the winners were white. I really think once an actor wins an Emmy for playing a role, they are thereafter ineligible. Sterling K. Brown should have a shelf of these things. So should Janelle James. Jean Smart didn’t need five Emmys for playing Deborah Vance. But that’s Hollywood, it’s not going to change.

UPDATE “60 Minutes” Premiere Dropped 21% from Last Year Thanks to 9 Months of Negative Publicity About CBS, Unwanted Overhaul of Show

0

The final numbers are in.

The season premiere of “60 Minutes” dropped 21% from last year.

Total viewers were 7.9 million, down from 10 million in 2025.

That would have been a good number if it had been a regular episode last season. But the premiere? No.

New CBS chief Bari Weiss and EP Nick Bilton — each lacking broadcast TV experience — provided one decent segment sandwiched between two cream puffs.

Norah O’Donnell’s big scoop, the interview with the survivor of the Iran shoot down read like a Dept of Justice Press release. It was packaged perfectly with supplied “inside” footage and an interview with Pete Hegseth. The longer it went on, the worse it got. And what about soldier Bravo? He changed his name but not his face?

Lesley Stahl then lay down the law with an old fashioned expose of Donald Trump’s team accepting bribes for pardons. The piece was sharp and bold. If this were a different world, there would have been outrage about Trump and the cast of criminals who’ve paid for pardons. But CBS downplayed it.

Jon Wertheim’s NFL valentine followed. It was as expected.

Tick, tick, tick.

“South Park” Returns Wednesday Night Re-branded as “South America” for Real as the Boys Discover e-Bikes (Watch Trailer)

“South Park” is back Wednesday night.

And yes, it’s been rebranded as “South America.”

This means the trailer — which right now is about the boys discovering e-bikes — will pack a political punch.

The 2026 Emmy winner for Best Animated Show is not going to abandon last season’s wild ride at the White House, trust me.

Dear Finneas, Lukas Graham, Ed Sheeran, and Even Macklemore: Before You Say Another Word, Please Screen a Movie Called “Holding Liat”

Dear Finneas, Lukas Graham, Ed Sheeran, and Macklemore.

Before we have any more protests of expressing yourself, I recommend you watch a movie called “Holding Liat.” I dare you to confront what happened on October 7th.

You can read my review here.

A trailer is below.

If you’d like a link, I can arrange it through the publicist. Email me at showbiz411@gmail.com. Once you’ve seen this movie, you’ll understand why no one who walks into a pop concert in America wants to ambushed with Free Palestine.

Reprisal: Trump Board Votes to Close Kennedy Center Because Judge Wouldn’t Allow Name Change, May Still Have to Defend Decision in Court

0

Well, here’s the update.

Trump’s board has voted to shut down the Kennedy Center, saying it needs repairs and renovations.

The real reason is because Trump has been told by Judge Cooper he can’t put his name on the theater.

He’s ‘trumped’ up the repair story as a mis-direct.

Meanwhile, he will likely be brought back into court by Judge Cooper, who has told him not to shut down.

The bizarre fixation continues. Meantime, the Kennedy Center, its patrons, audiences, and acts are suffering. The people of Washington DC and the world are being denied the nation’s most important cultural institution.

Trump doesn’t care. He just wants his way, and damn everyone else.

Trump Won’t Let Go of Wrecking the Kennedy Center Despite Judge’s Ruling, Doesn’t Understand He’s the Reason There Are No Bookings

0

Donald Trump is either clueless or stupid.

He doesn’t seem to realize the Kennedy Center is losing money and has no bookings BECAUSE of him.

Almost every act that was booked prior to his takeover canceled. Audiences wanted nothing to do with HIM and his new board. The negative publicity drove away customers.

And yet he continues to bloviate that he’s the “only one” who can save the famed cultural center when he’s done everything in his power to destroy it.

Trump is obsessed with the Kennedy Center. If only he were so intent on lowering gas and grocery prices, ending the war he started in Iran, or reuniting all the immigrant families he’s separated. Or opening the Epstein files.

But this, and building ballrooms and arches is all that occupies his docile mind.

Court Stops Trump’s Renaming of Kennedy Center, Rules Against His Hand Picked Board, Says Only Congress Can Make That Decision

0

Donald Trump cannot put his name back on the Kennedy Center.

In a ruling today, Judge Christopher R. Cooper of Federal District Court in Washington that doing so would violate his previous order.

“Simply put, defendants cannot install memorials for President Trump or anyone or anything else at the Kennedy Center without Congress’s blessing,” Judge Cooper wrote. “The board resolution bucks a federal court order and a statute Congress enacted.”

The 34 time convicted felon keeps trying to subvert the court and place his name with an actual president, John F. Kennedy.

But Cooper will not budge.

Meantime, Trump’s name appears thousands of times in the Epstein files. The Iran War continues unabated. Gas and grocery prices are through the roof.

Ed Sheeran Weasels Out on Taking Responsibility for Macklemore Cancellation, Says Decision Was Promoter’s: “I am not complicit”

0

Ed Sheeran is a weasel.

He won’t take responsibility for canceling Macklemore from his tour after the rapper conducted a “Free Palestine” rally at his show last week in New Jersey.

Fans were outraged that Macklemore used his role as opening act to go on a bender against Israel. Many Jewish fans left before Sheeran performed.

Consequently, Messina Touring canceled Macklemore after New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he wouldn’t allow him in Gillette Stadium. He convinced owners of other stadiums where Sheeran was booked to do the same.

Now Sheeran says it was the promoter’s decision. He actually says, “I am not complicit,” suggesting that he would have had no problem with Macklemore pulling the same stunt at 8 more shows.

On Instagram, Sheeran says: “I am appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The suffering and pain caused on both sides is a human tragedy. There are too many wars across the world causing immeasurable pain, none of which should be tolerated. Macklemore asked to join my tour last year and I agreed, because I respect him as an artist. As with all my support acts, I agree that they play a setlist of their choosing.“

“After Macklemore’s performances at my New Jersey shows, venues on my upcoming tour dates communicated that they would pull the shows if he was still supporting. I was informed that this stance was based on how Macklemore conveyed part of his message during his performance, rather than on everything that was said. I spoke with the venues at length all week to try and build a bridge. One of those people was Robert Kraft. I was also involved in direct talks with promoters along with activists on both sides to try and find a mutual resolution for all, but the venue’s and promoter’s decision was final.“

“I am not complicit. I have my personal views on this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn’t mean I don’t have them, and it doesn’t mean I don’t care. Nor does it mean I don’t support causes in my own, personal way.“

He added, “There is a reason I do not use my professional platform for politics – my audience includes young people, often children, of all backgrounds. Those who come to my shows do not expect a political forum. I respect Macklemore’s strength of purpose to stand up and shout for what he believes. However, there is room for multiple approaches to the same end: peace. I choose to use my fame and platform to be a place of safety and sanctuary, to maintain diplomacy and keep conversations open, not closed. If we only focus on shouting the loudest, nothing will ever change. There are different approaches to being an advocate for change.“

Nick Reiner Won’t Face Death Penalty in Murders of Parents Rob and Michelle Reiner After Siblings Speak to Prosecutor, Life Sentence Possible

0

Nick Reiner is not going to Death Row.

Los Angeles prosecutors will not seek the death penalty for Reiner in the killing of his parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner.

The prosecutor’s office indicated that they took into account the feelings of Reiner’s siblings, who asked for leniency because of Nick’s past mental illness and drug use.

The District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a press conference ahead of a hearing in the case that the decision was made after “a rigorous review, where we look at the aggravating factors as well as the mitigating factors.”

Nick Reiner still faces a maximum 33 year life sentence with no parole if convicted.

“60 Minutes” Ratings Disaster: Early Figures Suggest Lowest Premiere Numbers Since at Least 2000 After Months of Negative Publicity

0

Early numbers for “60 Minutes” on Sunday night are not good.

So far, it looks like 7.7 million viewers tuned in for the 59th season premiere.

This came after months of negative publicity with CBS News chief Bari Weiss firing three correspondents, and another, Anderson Cooper, leaving.

Despite a very good segment from Lesley Stahl about presidential pardons, the rest of Sunday’s show was soft. Norah O’Donnell’s fighter pilot piece came off like a press release from Pete Hegseth.

Last year’s premiere by comparison, scored 10 million viewers.

Last night’s key demo was also way down to 1.5 million viewers among adults ages 25–54, down 33% from last year.

It won’t be until this afternoon that we know the actual numbers for Sunday. But the preliminary ones are not encouraging.
