Something Better Beginning? Ray and Dave Davies of the Kinks Worked Together and No One Was Hurt

0

Dave Davies and brother Ray, of the Kinks, have notoriously not gotten along for a hundred years. The result is that the Kinks broke up, missed hundreds of opportunities, have a catalog strewn all over the place and disorganized.

But tonight Dave says he and Ray worked together today on some Kinks video footage. From the photo, it seems no one was harmed. If only these guys could get it together before they can’t anymore. They were such a great and important group. Cross fingers to quote one of their best songs, something better is beginning.

Report: Jeff Zucker’s Secret-Not-So-Secret Girlfriend Allison Gollust OUT at CNN

0

First Jeff Zucker got the boot, now his girlfriend. Warner Media found that she violated their standards and practices.

The memo went out from Jason Kilar.

Gollust came with Zucker to CNN in 2013 after working for him at NBC for years. Their marriages broke up because of their closeness. Zucker and Gollust’s relationship was an open secret for years among media people and everyone at CNN knew about it. CNN conducted a thorough investigation, went through all of Zucker and Gollust’s emails, and concluded that Gollust– who briefly worked for Andrew Cuomo between her NBC and CNN stints — had violated company policies. So she’s out.

Here’s the memo to the staff from Jason Kilar, CEO of Warner Media:

“Earlier today, Allison Gollust resigned from CNN following the conclusion of the Company’s investigation into issues associated with Chris Cuomo and former Governor Andrew Cuomo.

“Performed by a third-party law firm and led by a former federal judge, the investigation was comprehensive and definitive. It was commissioned in September and concluded this weekend, which now allows the company to share additional information. Based on interviews of more than 40 individuals and a review of over 100,000 texts and emails, the investigation found violations of Company policies, including CNN’s News Standards and Practices, by Jeff Zucker, Allison Gollust, and Chris Cuomo. We have the highest standards of journalistic integrity at CNN, and those rules apply to everyone equally.

Kilar added: “I realize this news is troubling, disappointing, and frankly, painful to read. These are valid feelings many of you have.”

Newly Contrite Kanye West Apologizes for Wild Posts, Wipes Most of His Aggressive Social Media

0

At last, someone has taken control of the Kanye West social media. They’ve wiped most of his crazy Instagram posts and attached an apology. Kanye had been attacking his ex wife Kim Kardashian, her boyfriend, Pete Davidson, and others. It was out of control.

Now Kanye writes: “I’ve learned that using all caps makes people feel like I’m screaming at them. I’m working on my communication. I can benefit from a team of creative professionals, organizers, mobilizers and community leaders. Thank everybody for supporting me. I know sharing screen shots was jarring and came off as harassing Kim. I take accountability. I’m still learning in real time. I don’t have all the answers. To be good leader is to be a good listener.”

Did he write it? Probably not. But who cares as long as he’s getting help and feeling better. Maybe his new album comes out on February 22nd. Maybe not. We’ll see.

“Rust” Film Tragedy: Halyna Hutchins’ Family Sues Alec Baldwin for Wrongful Death (Read Transcript)

0

The family of Halyna Huchins filed a wrongful death suit against Alec Baldwin today. Baldwin is in the UK shooting another low budget movie. His wife is posting merry photos of their children on Instagram. But the lawsuit spells it out in stark contrast: “On October 21, 2021, Defendant Alec Baldwin recklessly shot and killed Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie “Rust.”

This should be a dose of reality for Baldwin, who has seemed to be in unreality about what’s going on here.  It continues:

Defendant Baldwin and the other Defendants in this case failed to perform
industry standard safety checks and follow basic gun safety rules while using real guns to
produce the movie Rust, with fatal consequences.Halyna Hutchins deserved to live, and the Defendants had the power to prevent her death if they had only held sacrosanct their duty to protect the safety of every individual on a
set where firearms were present instead of cutting corners on safety procedures where human
lives were at stake, rushing to stay on schedule and ignoring numerous complaints of safety
violations.
This lawsuit seeks justice for the losses of her survivors and to hold responsible those who caused her tragic death.”

Halyna’s husband and 10 year old son are represented by the law firm Panish, Shea, Boyle, Ravipudi and they are not fooling around.

Here’s the whole complaint:

Pop Tart Olivia Rodrigo Dumps Manager Who Made Her Famous for Bigger Name in Hollywood

0

As my late friend, John Connolly used to say, “this doesn’t make her a bad person.”

Pop tart of the year Olivia Rodrigo dumped her original manager last month. Kristen Smith made Rodrigo a star with the song “Driver’s License” and the album, “Sour.” Now Rodrigo is nominated for a bunch of Grammys. She’s 18 years old for a few more days.

Now, after ditching Smith, Rodrigo has signed with a big management company. Lighthouse Management + Media‘s Aleen Keshishian and Zack Morgenroth are taking over. They manage Selena Gomez, Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Paul Rudd, among others. Thanks to hitsdailydouble.com for the scoop.

Cue the Disney song, “tale as old as time…” Most new stars struggle along with a manager who devotes themselves to creating fame, buzz, and success. Then they dump them. See: “Broadway Danny Rose.”

Box Office: “Spider Man” Finally Passes “Avatar” for 3rd Place, “Marry Me” Makes the Most of Valentine’s Day

0

We’ve been waiting for this and now it’s happened.

On Monday night, “Spider Man” passed “Avatar” at the box office and became the third highest grossing film of all time. “Spider Man” raked in $1.6 million on Monday and now stands at $760,988,686. Congrats to all. I’d love a poll to see who’s paid to see this movie the most number of times. By now everyone in the Western World has to have seen it once or twice.

Also, Monday, “Marry Me” brought in $3 million. It was the perfect Valentine’s Day movie. Now with $11 million total since Thursday. The Jennifer Lopez romcom will likely peter out during the week. But they made more money last night than they did on Sunday or Friday. LOL. If the movie only had been better, Universal could have made something out of it. We’ll see how the rest of the week goes…

Sarah Palin Loses Twice in Case Against New York Times as Jury Rejects Libel Claim

0

Yesterday the judge in the Sarah Palin-New York Times libel case said the former Governor of Alaska had no case and it should be dismissed.

But he let the jury continue deliberations. And they’ve now rejected the case completely and unanimously.

Palin has basically lost the case twice. She will continue to try and appeal it, but there’s nothing left of it, or her.

Here’s the link to the story from the New York Times.

Pictured: Julianne Moore as Palin. I couldn’t bring myself to use a picture of the one time VP candidate.

Clive Davis Sets Glittering All Star 90th Birthday Party in New York (Exclusive)

0

The legendary Clive Davis will celebrate his 90th birthday on Wednesday, April 6 at Casa Cipriani in Lower Manhattan.

The details are being kept strictly under wraps.  We hear the invitation-only event, which has been in the works for more than a year, will be quite different from Davis’ glittering Pre-Grammy Gala but the intent is to entertain and celebrate Davis’ five decades at the top of the music business.

The party is not in lieu of the cancelled Grammy party. Clive was going to have both of them. But when the Grammys moved to Vegas, it was impossible to have that event. It will be back next year, in Los Angeles, where it belongs!

During his illustrious career, Davis discovered, mentored or collaborated with such historic artists as this short list: Bruce Springsteen, Donovan, Janis Joplin, Simon & Garfunkel, Aerosmith, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago, Santana, Billy Joel, Earth, Wind & Fire, Barry Manilow, The Kinks, The Grateful Dead, Kenny G, Patti Smith, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Carly Simon, Air Supply, Deborah Cox, Rod Stewart, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx.

Clive also shepherded the first six American Idol winners to multi-platinum worldwide sales, financed the breakthrough LaFace and Bad Boy labels and founded Arista Nashville, launching such major acts as Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, and Carrie Underwood.

Queen Elizabeth Celebrates 70 Years on the Throne Paying Off Prince Andrew’s $10 Mil Sexual Abuse Charges

0

It will be a stain on the monarchy forever.

The Queen of England has paid off a settlement on Prince Andrew’s sexual abuse claim from Virginia Guiffre. It’s probably around $10 million, the same amount Bill O’Reilly had to pay in his loofah case.

No kidding: the Queen celebrates her glorious 70th anniversary on the throne by avoiding depositions and a court case that would have brought down the monarchy for good.

Andrew also “intends to make a substantial donation” to a charity “in support of victims’ rights,” a statement says.

But otherwise, Andrew is finished. He’s lost all his titles, income, and power. He’s been reduced to royal rubble. He’s cost the Crown a literal fortune and an untold amount in bad publicity. It will take 100 years of good works to erase this memory from the public consciousness.

Aside from Ghislaine Maxwell’s sentencing in June, that concludes the main part of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Squabbles will continue, but the whole mess is more or less behind us now.

Andrew was always a loser, from the era of “Randy Andy” and Koo Stark. The script never changed.

Warning: Poster for Hulu/Searchlight Movie “Fresh” Is as Disgusting as the Movie Itself — And Genius

0

First, read my review of “Fresh” here. It’s starting March 4th on Hulu. A totally disgusting movie, just like the poster. Disney Searchlight bought it as a gift for Hulu.”Fresh” has an 85 on Rotten Tomatoes, so other critics and bloggers obviously liked it. They certainly aren’t vegetarians. The premise of this movie is that Sebastian Stan plays a doctor who kidnaps women, vivisects them, eats pieces of them or sells them off, and eventually kills them. “It Ain’t the Meat, it’s the Motion” is not sung at any point.
