Is Kanye West Planning an Event During New York Fashion Week? A Mysterious Post Suggests Something, But It Won’t Be Official

0

It’s possible that Kanye West is planning some kind of fashion show during fashion week.

The Instagram account @dondasplace asked for interested media to call or DM about 8 different opportunities. It reads:

“NYFW COVERAGE SLOTS OPEN
Reach out via
DM – Email”

Will there Hitler t shirts? Or just ugly, unaffordable crap?

I did ask an insider at NYFW and they knew nothing about it. They said: “I have no idea what he’s doing or even understand this feed??”

Stay tuned.

Justin and Hailey Bieber’s Query of Favorite Things from Magazine Reveal No Musical Artists, But Panned Movies, Children’s Book, Spas, Egg McMuffin

0

For the launch cover of W Youth, Justin Bieber and wife Hailey Baldwin Bieber answer a few simple questions from the magazine.

The results are not surprising but they are frightening for people considered role models. The answer answers reveal a lack of education, and cultural stimulation, or natural curiosity. They are simpletons. They were AI — anti-intelligence — before it was popular.

Neither of them, for example, can choose a Favorite Artist of All Time. We might think artist means a painter or sculptor, but the magazine means musician. They’re not being pressed about Matisse or Rembrandt. But the couple cannot say one way or another. Justin doesn’t even cite Usher. who was his pal long ago. Hailey, oddly, refrains from choosing her husband.

Hailey’s favorite movie is “The Grinch.” His is “The Break Up,” a forgettable 2006 romcom starring Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. It scored a 34% on Rotten Tomatoes. “The Grinch,” of course, is a 2018 animated Christmas movie based on the book by Dr. Seuss. That is her favorite movie. She is two months shy of turning 30 years old, and is described as a “billionaire” from the sale of a cosmetics brand.

They have no film vocabulary, even at age 30. It wouldn’t have to be Scorsese, or Kurosawa, or something even a hip comedy like “Airplane!” They don’t even choose “Star Wars,” which was groundbreaking. I’m actually shocked there was no question about favorite video game.

She likes New York, when asked her favorite city. This makes sense. The Baldwins are from Long Island. New York is their closest city. He takes Los Angeles. He doesn’t choose Toronto or Vancouver even though Bieber is from Canada. This is odd even though, presumably, they’ve been all over the world. Paris, Madrid, Rome, London?

How we know they are suited to each other? They each enjoy going to the spa. It’s their favorite way to relax. They each prefer to be pampered. They each say, simply, “Spa.” Not even a specific spa, or part of the experience. Just “spa.”

She likes Thanksgiving. He likes Christmas, as far as holidays go. I thought Justin, a Bible thumper, would choose Easter actually. Kwanzaa and Chanukah are out.

Hailey, when asked, says, “I don’t have a fun hobby.” That’s too bad. No horse back riding, or even knitting. Justin likes Golf. And, when he was younger, spitting on strangers from a high perch.

A favorite karaoke song? Hailey will let loose to “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. The opening lyrics — Is this the real life/Or is this just fantasy — say a lot about her choice. I thought it was interesting she didn’t pick a Bieber tune. Justin, however, goes for something called “With You,” by Chris Brown, a noted abuser who, according to the BBC, has faced various other lawsuits and police reports regarding alleged physical altercations, threats, and civil disputes, including dismissed sexual assault allegations and a civil suit regarding a dog attack.

I think it’s cool that Justin can separate the man and his art.

Favorite book? This is a trick question since there is nothing for either of them to access having been raised on Game Boy and “My Little Pony.”

Hailey responds that she remembers a book from her childhood called “Angelina Ballerina.” Justin goes for the Bible.

Finally, each must choose a favorite breakfast. Hailey is high cholesterol, which also surprised me because she keeps her figure. She responds with a detailed order: “Two eggs over medium, sliced avocado, hashbrowns, extra crispy bacon.”

As for Justin, an Egg McMuffin will suffice.

In the old days, a publicist would have answered the questions posed to nitwit clients. They’d have concocted something reasonably smart but not too high end so that the couple would come off as relatable. But unless these answers were intended as some kind of satire — and we’re not getting the joke — these are American kids’ role models.

The couple supplied their own photos, which can he seen here.

Watch Trailer for “Musk,” Devastating Documentary About “Fascist” Billionaire Who Has “Lost His Mind,” “Manifestly Cruel and Selfish”

Here’s the trailer for Alex Gibney’s “Musk” documentary. It premieres this week in Toronto. Gibney is the guy to take on Musk. He’s a rock of Gibraltar in the doc world. There won’t be a t that’s not crossed or an i that’s not dotted.

Read Donald Trump’s Self-Interested Labor Day Message That Says Nothing to Workers Other Than His List of Grievances

0

At least he’s consistent.

All of Donald Trump’s holiday messages are about himself. Why should Labor Day be any different?

Instead of saluting hard working Americans, Trump dumps all over his perceived enemies like a fat schoolyard bully with his back against the wall at recess.

If you’re depending on a weekly paycheck, can’t pay for gas or groceries, Trump does not care about you. Even some MAGA must understand that by now. The orange twit only cares about himself.

Here’s his “uplifting” decree of hate. Keep in mind he’s been convicted of 34 felonies, adjudicated a rapist by a judge and ordered to pay his victim around $84 million, and appears in the Epstein files more than anyone else.

Also last night “South Park” won an Emmy Award for mocking him.

“Happy Labor Day to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics, Communists, and Dumocrats who will do anything possible to destroy our Country. These Deranged People, after fighting for 10 years, should finally acknowledge that your Favorite President (ME!), knows how to WIN! They should be exhausted by now but, sadly, they’re not. They’re going to give it one last shot at ruining America, but we’re not going to let that happen. We’re going to win the Midterms, BIG, and SAVE AMERICA! President DONALD J. TRUMP”

Bonkers Film about Elizabeth Holmes at Telluride Could Be First Nominated for Best Picture and Best Documentary, Runs Three Hours

0

The talk of the Telluride Film Festival is a little different this year.

Instead of a narrative film, Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s “You Can See Everything” is a hybrid. According to reports it’s 90 minutes of a documentary, and then 90 minutes of something else entirely. It even features a well known actress playing a role she’s already played.

Apparently, they could have called this one “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

Still, “You Will See Everything” will be considered a documentary for the Oscars. Bu there’s no rule that a doc can’t be also nominated for Best Picture. It almost happened with Michael Moore’s movies, “Bowling for Columbine,” and could have with his “Fahrenheit 911.”

I’m sure A24 will make a push for each category as “You Can See Everything” went off like an A bomb this weekend as the “surprise” screening at Telluride.

Fielder, known for his off beat shows on HBO like “The Rehearsal,” took a crew into the home of convicted swindler Elizabeth Holmes for a month before she went off to prison. Holmes was sentenced to 11 years for cooking up the fake Theranos project, in which she bilked investors over device that evaluate blood samples with the smallest test amount ever.

On paper it looked good, but the device itself never existed. And she knew it.

Fielder and crew spent the 30 days with Holmes and her family. Then she went off to prison and he made a movie with an actress playing Holmes so they could continue the conversation. (The actress is supposed to be a surprise, but you can figure it out.) It’s kind of genius and weird but I think the Telluride audience — the only one ever that saw it first — will never get over the shock twist.

Again, “You Can See Everything” clocks in at a stunning 174 minutes. A24 will release it in October. In all likelihood they’ll show it in Toronto this week, and then at the New York Film Festival. The question is, Will the twist be enough to carry it? Are people so interested in Holmes — who after all had a hit TV miniseries about her called “The Dropout” — that they’ll line up to see more of a deluded liar pleading her case?

Count me in.

Emmy Awards Night 2: “South Park” Evisceration of Trump Wins Best Animated Series, Rob Reiner Wins for “The Bear” UPDATING LIVE

0

The second night of the Creative Awards Emmys are unfolding right now in Los Angeles.

The actual Emmys take place next Monday.

Rob Reiner won a posthumous Emmy for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy for “The Bear.”

So far, the big news is that “South Park” won Best Animated Series for its brilliant evisceration of Donald Trump. This was the series’ 27th season and it focused largely on Trump impregnating Satan, and took vicious swipes at everyone in the White House.

Pretty much anything anti-Trump is winning an Emmy this year. Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel, each maligned by Trump, won last night. Bad Bunny picked up 7 awards for his Super Bowl half time show, largely because Trump went crazy attacking the performer, and the fact that the show would be in Spanish. It was good, yes, but 7 awards???

Other winners so far are Shailene Woodley for Best Guest Actress in a Drama, for “Pluribus.” Ernest Harden, Jr. won for Best Guest Actor in a Series, for “The Pitt.”

Julie Andrews broke her own record as the oldest Emmy winner ever for narrating “Bridgerton.”

David Harbour won Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for “DTF St Louis”

Linda Cardellini won Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for “DTF St Louis”

Rob Reiner won Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy for “The Bear.”

Betty Gilpin – Best Supprt Guest Actress in a Comedy “Widow’s Bay.”

“The Pitt” won Best Song for “Need Someone.”

Outstanding Movie “Remarkably Bright Creatures,” the one with Sally Field and the Octopus

“Secret” $100 Million “Maserati” Movie Coming October 15th with Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia, 36 Producers and Self-Distributed

0

There’s always a movie like this that pops up on the schedule.

This year, it’s “Maserati: The Brothers,” directed by Bobby Moresco, who I knew some 30 years ago from a short-lived TV series called “EZ Streets,” and Lorenzo Carcaterra’s infamously not-non fiction book and movie, “Sleepers.” More importantly, Moresco shared an Oscar for writing “Crash” with Paul Haggis.

Moresco knows his way around an automobile biopic. In 2022, he directed “Lamborghini,” but that went wheels up with just a 6% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a total box office of $1.3 million from international venues. In the US, it’s unclear if it was released.

“Maserati” has a total of 36 producers, which is less than some other outlier films. Andrea Iervolino is the lead, well known abroad for making highly unwatchable movies we don’t see in the US along with his backer, Monika Bacardi, of the liquor brand. He also made Michael Mann’s “Ferrari,” so “Maserati” is his hat trick. As for Bacardi, I notice that her name is not on the new movie’s long list of producers, which is why so many others may be involved in the financing.

“Maserati” looks like it will be the grand opera of Iervolino movies. Who knows? It could be great. No one knows because it hasn’t been screened. It also will be self-distributed, no studios are involved, so far not even Lions Gate which took on “Lamborghini.”

So we rev our engines, and wait and see what happens. Of course, with that cast, what could go wrong? It seems like a no-brainer.

Ed Sheeran Still Has 8 More Stadium Dates with Controversial Rapper Macklemore That Will Feature Antisemitic Song and Chanting, “Free Palestine!”

0

I told you yesterday that pop star Ed Sheeran is enraging some fans.

He’s allowing his opening act, rapper Macklemore, to spew antisemitic tropes. He performed his song “Hinds Hall” and chanted “Free Palestine!” at two shows at MetLife Stadium this week.

Sheeran’s audience is aghast, and there are reports of many leaving before gingerbread Ed hits the stage.

This has prompted an online petition to keep Macklemore off the Sheeran tour, which is called “LOOP.”

The tour is not over. Sheeran has 8 more stadium dates set with Macklemore. They include Philadelphia, two nights in a row at Foxborough Stadium outside of Boston, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Charlotte NC, Red Rocks, and Tampa.

The final one is appropriate since Raymond James Stadium has already hosted antisemitic rapper Kanye West. So they’re ok with it (and apparently so is financial firm Raymond James).

The LOOP tour is promoted by AEG Live, owned by right wing conservative Philip Anschutz, a Republican mega donor.

Ed Sheeran has a lot to lose here if he continues with Macklemore. Once a sensation who sold out stadiums and sold millions of records, Sheeran has seen his fortunes change. He hasn’t had an actual hit record in some time. This year he jumped from a long standing relationship with Atlantic Records over to Interscope. I’m sure the new label isn’t interested in a lot of bad publicity.

And it’s not like ticket sales are so great anyway. At Foxborough only the lower sections are sold. There are thousands of seats available for both nights. Keeping Macklemore and allowing him to carry on this way may result in big box office problems.

Box Office: “Spider Man” Begins the Climb to $1 Billion US, “The Odyssey” Has a Short Journey to $600 Million, “Coyote vs. Acme” Very Animated

0

The weekend box office reveals a few things.

“Spider Man: Brand New Day” is now on the move to $1 billion US. With this weekend, the total is up to $917 billion. This won’t take long now. I’m sure Sony is rushing to plan the sequel, and maybe the last of five hits with Tom Holland and Zendaya.

“The Odyssey” is on a journey to $600 million. It’s going to happen fast, because the Chris Nolan epic is already at $584 million. People are wandering around Troy, New York looking for a hollow wood horse. Ithaca College is getting more popular. It’s time for a theme park in Utica!

“Coyote vs. Acme” continues to be very animated. Now at $33 million in the US, and waiting for international release. Then home video will be off the hook as kids just play it over and over. Was Warner Bros. Looney Tunes to give it up? This will be studied at business schools.

Not so hot: “By Any Means” is said to be not bad, but the title and marketing aren’t a help. What is this movie about? I don’t know. But Diane Warren’s song is headed to awards talk.

“The Dog Stars” — we’ve run out of puns. Paws up, back to the pet shelter, a terrible tail. Jacob Elordi shouldn’t be in a movie that makes $13 million.

Onward and upward!

Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti Are the Talk of Telluride with Jesse Eisenberg’s “The Debut” Getting Rapturous Reviews Awards Talk

0

From Telluride, all I’m hearing about is Julianne Moore.

Already an Oscar winner for “Still Alice,” Moore has broken out as the lead candidate for Best Actress in “The Debut.”

Coming off “A Real Pain,” Jesse Eisenberg wrote and directed this comedy about local theater in New Jersey. Paul Giamatti plays the director of a new musical who also has a reputation for being difficult. Moore, whose character has no acting experience, auditions and wins a part in the show.

So far, every review is rapturous. Eisenberg co-wrote seven original songs for the fake musical, and they’re all said to be witty and tuneful. One of them will go into contention for Best Song at the various awards shows.

“The Debut” next at the Toronto and New York film festivals. It’s from A24, and probably their best shot this year — and also one that doesn’t take much convincing to like it.

I told you about “The Debut” a few months ago. The combination of Eisenberg, Moore, and Giamatti is a no-brainer.
