“60 Minutes” Saw 18% Drop from Same Week Last Year: Rise from Previous Week Much Lower Than 2025 As “Boycott” Has an Impact

On Sunday, “60 Minutes” scored 9.2 million viewers for its fifth episode of this season.

But last year, the fifth episode had 11 million viewers.

This past Sunday showed an increase from the previous week, but not nearly as much as in 2025. That’s an 18% drop.

The NFL game was a nail biter, which should have helped goose the numbers. A Total of over just over 26 million people watched the Bills sink the Raiders 33-30. The game was an exciting seesaw.

But for 15 million fans to switch off the network says a lot. On social media, I see more and more people say they’re boycotting the Bari Weiss era version of the news.

It’s too bad because Lesley Stahl’s piece on voter fraud turned out to be quite good. The helim shortage story kind of floated away. And the Sacha Baron Cohen segment was okay but could have been a lot better.

And so it goes for “60 Minutes,” which — other than Stahl — has stayed away from political pieces that would show Donald Trump and his clown car filled with stooges to be doing anything wrong. And the end bit — with Sebastian Junger — was a waste of time.

Showbiz411 is now in its 13th year of providing breaking and exclusive entertainment news. This is an independent site, unlike the many Hollywood trades that are owned by one company. To continue providing news that takes a fresh look at what's going on in movies, music, theater, etc, advertising is our basis. Reader donations would be greatly appreciated, too. They are just another facet of keeping fact based journalism alive.
