Ronna McDaniel will not be a paid consultant for NBC News.
With last night’s across the board revolt from the MSNBC anchors, Puck News reports that McDaniel out. She didn’t last a week.
The former RNC chairman was to be paid $300,000 a year to sit on panels with various anchors on the cable and broadcast networks.
But an immediate outcry from nearly everyone at the company made that impossible. See my previous story about Rachel Maddow’s brilliant takedown last night on her MSNBC show. All the anchors did likewise.
Now McDaniel is said to be consulting her lawyers. NBC will have to pay her off and get out of this quickly.
This episode is reminiscent of the Megyn Kelly fiasco a few years ago at NBC. Kelly got millions to leave after a prolonged public debate.
The networks are trying to chase conservative viewers and pick up some of Fox News’s following. It won’t work if they want to continue to maintain journalistic standards. McDaniel stood for lies and deceit, and the propagation of fake news.
