Contrary to nutty reports today–including one repeated on the site I created for Fox News in 1999– Michael Jackson had no other children besides the ones we know about, Prince, Paris, and Blanket.

Donte Williams Jackson, who lives in the Jackson family home, is generally considered to be the illegitimate offspring of Joseph Jackson. Joe has at least one other child not from his marriage to Katherine, JoVanni Jackson. She’s been acknowledged by Janet and lives in Las Vegas.

Donte might also be the son of Jermaine Jackson. But whoever he is, he is not the mystery child of Michael Jackson. Neither is Omer Bhatti, the sad Norwegian kid who Michael collected in 1996 in Tunisis when he was 12. Omer is the biological son of Riz and Pia Bhatti, who each worked for Jackson subsequently. Omer now cashes in on his Michael connection by doing shows as a Jackson imitator.

The Donte-is Michael’s kid was picked up by Fox411, sadly. I created that column in 1999 and named it. Now it’s used for regurgitated celebrity misinformation. Oh well.

In real and actual news about Michael Jackson’s actual kids: they just returned from a nice trip to Disney World in Florida, after going to Hawaii. They went with cousins Taj and Taryll Jackson, sons of uncle Tito, and bodyguards.

  7. Michael Jackson trusted Branca, the gatekeeper to all his secrets, secrets Michael’s family does not even know about. Branca is the Executor along with John McClain, end of story.

    Honestly, are you medicated? Joe Jackson stole MJ’s childhood and sense of safety and self (competent people would call those priceless.) MJ acquired the bulk of his fortune in adulthood once he FIRED his father and stopped working with his brothers. Rather than provide for themselves, Joe, Katherine, et al, spent rest of his life sponging off him while exuding a disgustingly over-developed sense of entitlement.

    What? This is only a billion dollar estate largely because of deals conceptualized and brought to fruition by John Branca. Here in LA within the Entertainment industry, people are hired, fired, rehired all the time! It’s part and parcel – even necessary on occasion – in this business. Something MJ, unlike you, understood fully.

    The only thing we know for certain is that MJ did NOT want ANY of his family members involved in his business affairs – BEFORE or AFTER HIS DEATH.

    The most sound decision MJ ever made in regard to his personal life (and certainly business-wise) was when he choose and assembled the team HE WANTED to be in charge of all thing MJ after his death. This was a brilliant move on MJ’s part. I know you do not see it that way, but that is because, as your previous postings prove, you do not understand how business works on this level.

    And speaking of FIRED, you forgot to mention that MJ ALSO FIRED EVERY SINGLE FAMILY MEMBER HE EVER HIRED TO WORK FOR HIM.

    P.S. FTR, John Branca is really a terrific guy and he cared very deeply for MJ. He was also someone MJ turned to over the years for trusted council and friendship. (Yes, even during the times he and MJ were no longer working together in an official capacity.)

  10. Betsy – a lawyer that MJ FIRED is now in charge of is billion dollar estate. A company he DESPISED is in charge of his music. A doctor he had the misfortune to trust has run himself bow-legged in efforts to DESTROY MJ’s name. Not one of these vultures, leeches, what have you, is a Jackson.

    Whatever you feel about Joe Jackson, he NEVER stole MJ’s money, even when he was a child. All those non-Jacksons did. And they continue to do so.

  15. DUH?!…. Of course MJ had NO other children! IF he did and his extended family members knew about it, they would have used that information to blackmail MJ for even more $$$$$ over the years! Joe, Katherine, Jermaine, Randy, LaToya, Janet – the entire lot of them – low class, greedy scumbags! IMO, the biggest bloodsucking VULTURES in MJ’s life were the one’s he was related too. (A notion they all underscore each time someone turns a camera on them or they have the opportunity to make $$$ off his death.)

    I adored MJ as a child; As an adult I would wonder “How did MJ get so weird?” After watching and reading about the Jackson’s behavior this past year, my only question is “How did MJ manage to stay so normal!?”

  17. Whoever said Michael was bullied by the media was absolutely RIGHT!!! It was that relentless bullying that stressed him out, and wore him down emotionally. So, in a sense, the media is as responsible for killing Michael as Conrad Murray is–and there is NO WAY He’s NOT responsible. Involuntary Manslaughter My A–!! There was nothing Involutary about Murray’s actions.

  22. I’ve been following MJ for years and it’s obvious the media doesn’t have a clue and they don’t about the Jackson’s either. What would make you think Randy would raise Joe’s illegitimate son? That’s absolutely crazy. Now Randy was CLOSE to Michael to raise his child but not his father. Also for the record, secret children are not new to the Jackson’s. Tito just recently acknowledged his secret child publically. The child is now 25 and he told her when she was 17 but he kept it a secret because the girl said he was “ashamed.”

  23. Michael was and still is a great man. Michael loved children and he loves his children. Michael is not the kind of person that would deny his children. If those was Michael’s kids he would have said so. People are sick in this world. Michael is in heaven with God. I really pray that people will leave him alone. My God, they messed with him in life and now they are trying in death. Please, just let that sweet and wonderful man rest in peace. At least, give his children and family that respect. I love you Michael, now and forever! May your spirit rest in peace!

I would also like to say THANK YOU, Mr.Friedman for being a fair and responsible journalist and for setting the record straight regarding the rumors of a second secret child belonging to Michael Jackson. I respect and appreciate you for reporting the truth. We all know there has been enough irresponsible reporting of rumors and lies throughout the years which made Michael’s life miserable and caused him alot of pain and heartache even though he tried to ignore the stories. Its like the media didn’t care that he was a real person with feelings and emotions so they continued to rip him apart every chance they got. Anyway, it didn’t make sense to me that if Omar or Donte were actually his kids, why would he keep them a secret the way he has always wanted chlidren of his own? Also, it seemed strange that he would just leave these kids out of his will after being so generous to strangers by donating money to charities, and etc. all these years. Thanks again, Mr. Friedman. It was really sad how certain elements tarnished the reputation of such a kind hearted human being in order to silence him.   36. Unfortunately, Michael made the mistake of waging war on the media beginning back in the early 1980s. If you read any of his interviews or watch him on TV, he ALWAYS tells people not to believe any of the garbage written about him in the tabloids and to stop buying the magazines, etc. Celeb tabloid garbage is big business (read: big money) so for him to be constantly telling people not to buy the tabloids, that they were full of lies and trash, and that he wanted to ‘burn it all’ was an antagonistic stance to take against a global ‘enemy’. He created a monster. Listen to his songs too. Lots of lyrics decrying the tabloid media. The media took his bait and fed it back to him a thousand fold. That is the absolute root of Michael’s troubles with the media. Perhaps people tried to warn him of the folly of his methods and perhaps he never listened to them but engaging the media in a war of words was the biggest mistake he ever made.

    I have been observing you for a while now and had revisited your coverage of Michael Jackson during this past 10+ years. Although at one point you might have been misinformed it is clear you are a man that tells the truth and make a just interpretation of facts when you see them twisted around. For example, the trial coverage. Many might not agree with me, and that’s okay. But you did an excellent job getting many facts out and actually not running to the pen before having stayed in courtroom the whole day, have all the information. Wise man.
    At present we are petitioning for the press to take back their lies, all the inuendo that has tainted Michael Jackson’s name and legacy. I publicly here ask you to join the fans in our fight for justice to the name of Michael. You know all the people who have acted maliciously and self serving, greed adoringly. We need the press to accept they lied, we need to take their pants down and show to the world how unjust was their coverage of someone innocent. He, us and his kids will suffer from this. The legacy might be tainted in the eyes of young people, trashed by old misinformed goats. Stand up and help us Mr.Friendman. You can do it.

All the media and its spin doctors wanted was to bring down MJ for no tangible reason.There was too much jelousy,racism and hidden agendas on MJ.With an over powering talent from MJ that could not go unoticed all they had to settle for was to find a way to exploit him by cashing in at every moment of his life. MJ you were too good to live into this nasty world of greed and the lack of compassion and care for others as you did for the whole world. The world can not pretend that they have not learnt a moral lesson from you MJ our Gardian Angel. You will live forever in our hearts. I love you so much. REST IN PEACE.

  42. I honestly don’t think Donte is Michael’s. I can’t see why Michael would deny the child if he were his. Michael tried to have kids of his own for so long. He would never deny a child that was his.
    Randy Jackson had said years ago that Donte was his and Alejandra’s adopted child. The couple allegedly adopted him when he was three months old.

  48. THANK YOU ROGER FRIEDMAN!!!!!!! You have no idea how much I appreciate your respectful coverage of Michael Jackson. He was truly a great artist and deserves to be treated with admiration and the highest regard. I hope someday you will do an analysis of what happened in the media to create the frenzied global bullying of Michael Jackson. Anyone paying attention in the ’05 trial knows that Jackson was NOT guilty of any crime, then or ever. Anyone paying attention to the tremendous humanitarian effort that this man offered to the world has to wonder why this wasn’t newsworthy. Anyone paying attention to his artistry can only come away with complete awe. What is the real reason why he is not portrayed as such?
