Taylor Swift Is Including Unreleased Diane Warren Song “Say Don’t Go” on Her New Version of “1989”

0

When Taylor Swift’s re-recorded “1989” album drops tonight it will have a totally unreleased song written by Oscar winner Diane Warren.

“Say Don’t Go” was created back in 2014 but didn’t make the album. It may have been a matter of Warren writing the song — Swift likes her own copyrights. So does Warren. She’s written dozens of smash hits for Aerosmith, Cher, Lady Gaga, and more.

But apparently a deal was worked out, and the song will be “from the vaults” tonight. Look for it to be embraced by the Swifties within seconds.

Here are the lyrics:

Say Don’t Go (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault) –

[Verse 1]
I’ve known it from the very start
We’re a shot in the darkest dark
Oh no, oh no
I’m unarmed
The waiting is a sadness
Fading into madness
Oh no, oh no
It won’t stop

[Chorus]
I’m standing on a tightrope alone
I hold my breath a little bit longer
Halfway out the door, but it won’t close
I’m holding out for you to say, “Don’t go”
I would stay forever if you say, “Don’t go”

[Verse 2]
Why’d you have to lead me on?
Why you’d have to twist the knife?
Walk away and leave me
Bleeding, bleeding?
Why’d you whisper in the dark
Just to leave me in the night?
Now you silence has me
Screaming, screaming

[Verse 3]
Now I’m facing on shaky ground
Strikе a match, then you blow it out
Oh no, oh no
It’s not fair
‘Cause you kiss me and it stops timе
And I’m yours, but you’re not mine
Oh no, oh no
Now you’re not there

[Chorus]
I’m standing on the sidewalk alone
I wait for you to drive by
I’m trying to see the cards that you won’t show
I’m about to fold unless you say, “Don’t go”
I would stay forever if you say, “Don’t go”
I’m standing on a tightrope alone
I hold my breath a little bit longer
Halfway out the door, but it won’t close
I’m holding out for you to say, “Don’t go”
I would stay forever if you say, “Don’t go”

Why’d you have to make me want you?
Why’d you have to give me nothing back?
Why’d you leave to make me love you?
I said, “I love you,” you say nothing back

[Chorus]
I’m standing on a tightrope alone
I hold my breath a little bit longer
Halfway out the door, but it won’t close
I’m holding out for you to say, “Don’t go”
I would stay forever if you say, “Don’t go”

[Outro]
But you won’t
But you won’t
But you won’t
But you won’t
I would stay forever if you say, “Don’t go”
But you won’t
But you won’t
But you won’t

Bruce Springsteen, Sidelined by Peptic Ulcer, “Was Playing in Pain All the Time,” Says Stevie van Zandt

0

As Bruce Springseen’s fans know, he had to cancel all his tour dates from September through the end of the year because of a peptic ulcer.

Now his longtime friend and bandmate Stevie van Zandt reveals that Bruce “was in pain the whole time” they were doing shows this summer. van Zandt and his cool wife, Maureen, are guests on the Naked Lunch podcast that drops tonight.

Naked Lumch is hosted by two of my favorite guys, Phil Rosenthal (creator of “Everyone Loves Raymond”) and David Wild, writer of all the hip awards shows and music events on TV.

Here’s a clip from tonight’s show:

Showbiz Biz: William Morris Endeavor May Be Up for Sale, Song Cataloger Hipgnosis Fund Faces the Music Thursday

0

Two big biz stories breaking today:

William Morris Endeavor, aka Endeavor Holdings, may be on the block. First CAA was sold, now their rival could be looking for a deal.

Here’s the release:

Endeavor Group Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: EDR) (“Endeavor” or the “Company”), a global sports and entertainment company, today announced the initiation of a formal review to evaluate strategic alternatives for the Company.

As part of this review of strategic alternatives, the Company will not consider the sale or disposition of the Company’s interest in TKO Group Holdings, Inc.

“Given the continued dislocation between Endeavor’s public market value and the intrinsic value of Endeavor’s underlying assets, we believe an evaluation of strategic alternatives is a prudent approach to ensure we are maximizing value for our shareholders,” said Ariel Emanuel, CEO of Endeavor.

Tomorrow we get the news from Hipgnosis, owner of numerous song catalogs of famous musicians. Do they stay in business? Do they get sold? Will the shareholders bail and look for other places to invest their money? Are they sold right back to Merck Mercuriadis, who runs them now, and Blackstone Group?

Hipgnosis Stock dropped precipitously on October 16, but it’s bounced back a little since then. What tune will everyone be whistling tomorrow?

Beatles Update: “Now and Then” Single, Source Says “You Will Tear Up When You Hear It…This is a Gift”

0

EXCLUSIVE The Beatles’ final single, “Now and Then,” will drop at 9am Eastern Thursday morning.

I’m told there will be other announcements, including newly remixed and remastered versions of the Beatles ‘red’ and ‘blue’ greatest hits albums. But it’s not “Rubber Soul Remixed.”

Tomorrow is all about “Now and Then.” Someone who’s heard it reports to me “You will tear up when you hear it, it’s that amazing.”

The record includes instrumental Easter eggs, I’m told. They won’t be obvious but we’ll hear little familiar bits that have been woven through, an appropriate capping off of a magnificent career.

Paul McCartney produced it with Giles Martin. Ringo Starr added exquisite drums. George Harrison laid down a part for it years ago, but Paul also has a guitar solo on it. And he sings, of course.

Peter Jackson cleaned up John Lennon’s 1978 vocal, but it’s not “invented.” This is NOT artificial intelligence.

“So much love and care has been put into this, says a source. “It’s a gift.”

Over 50 years later. we are still excited about a Beatles release!

Monday Cable News: Rachel Maddow Destroys Sean Hannity for MSNBC’s Only Win of the Night

0

MSNBC is having problems, you know.

Aside from Rachel Maddow, they can’t seem to get everyone on the same page about Israel and Hamas and Gaza.

Maddow scored a huge victory over Sean Hannity on Monday night. With 2.3 million total viewers, she was up 600K over Hannity.

But the rest of the MSNBC line up fell to Fox News. Nicolle Wallace won her 4pm spot on MSNBC, and then it was downhill until Maddow at 9pm. Ari Melber did the best in that group but still fell short of Fox by about 500,000 viewers.

Talking Heads Will Reunite on Colbert Tonight for Interview, See Mick Jagger Give Jimmy Fallon His Frozen Secrets

0

David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison will sit uncomfortably tonight on Stephen Colbert’s couch.

The Talking Heads will gather together for the second time since September, and since they all broke up and sued each other 30 years ago. (They appeared together at the Toronto Film Festival also.)

They’ll be interviewed but it’s highly unlikely they will perform together. Although just being there and talking will be like a performance of some kind.

“Stop Making Sense” was released to the theaters all new and spiffed up about three weeks ago. The Jonathan Demme film has made $4.6 million since then on IMAX screens.

It’s about to released on DVD in 4K whatever. The Heads were going to be on Colbert last week, but the host got COVID. Luckily, all four of the group live in New York,

On another note, Mick Jagger did a filmed piece last night on Jimmy Fallon that was hilarious.

The Beatles Get Ready to Drop Final Single, “Now and Then,” Remixed from John Lennon 1978 Song (9am Thursday)

0

The Beatles are ready to drop their so-called final single. It drops Thursday morning 9am Eastern, 6am Western.

“Now and Then” is a reworking of a 1978 John Lennon song, just as “Real Love” was 30 years ago.

The Beatles’ social media pages have added a mysterious picture of a cassette about to end on its A side. This is a Bat signal that the record, which Paul McCartney first mentioned months ago, is on its way.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE NEWS ABOUT THE BEATLES NEW SONG

This is NOT artificial intelligence. It’s just Paul and Ringo adding their contributions to Lennon’s original recording. They’ve got a George Harrison bit on it that George added years ago, obviously before he died. “Now and Then,” which you can hear below in the demo recording, is a haunting, melancholy Lennon melody. I can’t wait to hear what Paul and Ringo made of it.

Will there be more than just the single? Stay tuned. If ever we needed a distraction like this, its now.

Trump Flips Out After Mark Meadows Flips On Him: Veiled Threat on Social Media, Calls Jack Smith “Deranged” Again

0

Donald Trump flipped out tonight after Mark Meadows flipped on him. On social media, Trump went after Meadows– now an official witness for the government in the case brought by special prosecutor. Trump also called Smith “deranged” again. There’s a gag order in place, but Trump’s ignoring it and no one is enforcing it. Last week, Trump called his New York judge, Arthur Engoron, a “lunatic.”

Meadows has taken an immunity deal from Smith and will testify about Trump’s efforts to manipulate the 2020 election. (He also can’t spell “stolen” properly.) See below: is it witness intimidation to publicly call a witness a liar? Judge Tanya Chutkan may have to make that decision.

TRUMP ON TRUTH SOCIAL:

“I don’t think Mark Meadows would lie about the Rigged and Stollen 2020 Presidential Election merely for getting IMMUNITY against Prosecution (PERSECUTION!) by Deranged Prosecutor, Jack Smith. BUT, when you really think about it, after being hounded like a dog for three years, told you’ll be going to jail for the rest of your life, your money and your family will be forever gone, and we’re not at all interested in exposing those that did the RIGGING — If you say BAD THINGS about that terrible “MONSTER,” DONALD J. TRUMP, we won’t put you in prison, you can keep your family and your wealth, and, perhaps, if you can make up some really horrible “STUFF” a out him, we may very well erect a statue of you in the middle of our decaying and now very violent Capital, Washington, D.C. Some people would make that deal, but they are weaklings and cowards, and so bad for the future our Failing Nation. I don’t think that Mark Meadows is one of them, but who really knows? MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

Rolling Stone’s Current Editor Throws Jann Wenner Under the Bus Again in New Letter to Readers

0

I never thought I’d feel sorry for Jann Wenner.

But Noah Schactman, the current editor of Rolling Stone, has just thrown the magazine’s founder under the bus again and backed up over him.

Shactman has posted a Letter from the Editor titled: “Today’s Rolling Stone: In the wake of our founder’s offensive comments, we’re taking a hard look at where we’ve been and where we’re going”

Pretty much everyone else has moved on from Wenner’s crazy New York Times interview in which he said Black and female artists weren’t articulate enough to be profiled for his new book. Wenner was instantly cancelled. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which also founded, dumped him from the board. Rolling Stone, which is run by his son, Gus, distanced itself from him quickly with a public upbraiding. His book, “The Masters,” was DOA is now sitting at number 41,069 on the amazon best sellers list.

But now it’s Shactman’s turn. He’s got a “Musicians on Musicians” issue coming out tomorrow, so he wants to emphasize that Blacks and females are welcome. He’s got Snoop Dogg on the cover with Latto, in case you don’t get it.

You can read Shactman’s letter here.

I do wonder how this works, with Gus Wenner there over Shactman. But they must have taken a big hit from advertisers to this far. According to similarweb.com the mag’s website lost 3 million visitors in September, and was down 9% in readership.

When that happens, even relatives get thrown under that bus.
