Rob Reiner Son, Nick, Arrested for Sick Murder of Parents — Bodies Found by Daughter — Larry David and Billy Crystal Seen in Shock

Share

How much worse could this be?

Rob Reiner and wife Michele were murdered allegedly by their son, Nick, 32, a drug addict.

Nick Reiner was arrested this morning by the LAPD for slitting his congenial, lovely parents’ throats. He’s being held on $4 million bond.

The bodies were discovered by the couple’s daughter, Romy, in their Brentwood home, on Sunday.

The Reiners’ friends, Billy Crystal and Larry David, each were seen in shock at the Reiners’ home last night while the police waited for the coroner. Exclusive: Romy had called them immediately after calling the police, sources say.

It’s a horror of a huge magnitude. The couple knew they had a mentally ill son. Rob Reiner went so far to appease his son that in 2016 he directed a movie written by Nick called “Being Charlie.” It was about a father grappling with a drug addicted son.

The irony is that Reiner could not have been more beloved as a director and actor. As Hollywood legacy — son of famed director-actor- writer- humorist Carl Reiner — he couldn’t have been more respected or enjoyed as an entertainer.

Rob Reiner is at the center of a generation in Hollywood as if he were the sun, not just the son. His studio, Castle Rock, produced “Seinfeld,” and he was close friends with Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David. Billy Crystal starred in two of his most famous movies. One hundred year old stars Mel Brooks and Dick van Dyke were like uncles.

Rob’s father wrote and produced van Dyke’s self titled show. With Brooks, his “20,000 Year Old Man” was a classic. They wrote for Sid Caesar.

It’s a stunning moment in Hollywood history.

But it’;’s also a very human story not uncommon among families with children who suffer from drug addiction and mental illness.
