UPDATE Donde “Donda”? No Sign of Album Kanye West Announced and Provided Song Tracklistings For

0

FRIDAY 12:40AM There is no sign of “Donda.” Did it ever exist? Will it seep out in a few hours or days? Who knows? But so far, Donda Nada.

EARLIER THURSDAY NIGHT Donde “Donda”?

That’s the name of Kanye West’s supposed new album, which he announced many times this week was arriving tomorrow. That means in 7 1/2 hours.

I’m told no one at his record company, Def Jam, has any idea if the record is coming. That’s a bad sign. The streaming services seem clueless, too. Kanye’s website offers no indication new music is about to arrive.

Plus, the usually voluble Kanye has vanished from social media today. No word about the album at all.

Of course, it’s possible the whole thing was a manic wish, and doesn’t exist. Or exists in parts but not ready for now. And this is despite Kanye releasing a tracklist over and over. He’s issued them in his own hand, and then type written.

This was already a busy week for Kanye, whose presidential non campaign ended with a frantic, senseless appearance in South Carolina and his denying that Harriet Tubman freed slaves. Then he had a Twitter barrage attacking his wife and her family.  Who has time to finish tracks?

A wrench in the works might have been Taylor Swift’s announcement that she’s dropping a surprise album tonight. And she’s really doing it. They are mortal enemies. Her “Folklore” may have have scared Kanye off.

I guess we’ll see at midnight if “Donda” is real. I guess if it’s not, we’re all learning about manic depression aka bipolar disorder. This is tough for his family first and him. As for the public, we can wait.

Report: Stephen Miller’s Grandmother Died of COVID-19, Her Son Blames the Trump Administration

This is such good reporting from David Corn in Mother Jones, I wanted to share it with you.

Corn breaks the story that Stephen Miller’s grandmother has died of COVID-19. It’s on her death certificate despite a rude denial from the White House.

Miller’s uncle, David Glosser, wrote about it on Facebook. Corn followed up. Glosser, who hates his alien nephew, blames the Trump Administration for his mother’s death. Yes, she was 97, but COVID-19 weakened her prematurely and hastened her death.

Glosser wrote on July 4th: “This morning my mother, Ruth Glosser, died of the late effects of COVID-19 like so many thousands of other people; both young and old. She survived the acute infection but was left with lung and neurological damage that destroyed her will to eat and her ability to breathe well enough to sustain arousal and consciousness. Over an 8-week period she gradually slipped away and died peacefully this morning.”

The White House responded to Mother Jones: “This is categorically false, and a disgusting use of so-called journalism when the family deserves privacy to mourn the loss of a loved one. His grandmother did not pass away from COVID. She was diagnosed with COVID in March and passed away in July so that timeline does not add up at all. His grandmother died peacefully in her sleep from old age. I would hope that you would choose not to go down this road.”

This was Miller’s mother’s mother. I don’t how she can look at her son. But you must remember, he was taken in when his spaceship abandoned him. The Millers never knew his planet’s peculiarities. This woman was his grandmother in name.

Read Corn’s story.

Justin Bieber Announces Scaled Down for Summer 2021 Replacing Postponed Dates from This Year

0

Before we broke for Pandemic 2020, Justin Bieber was supposed to have a big tour beginning May 14th. The dates were not selling, big time. The pandemic caused the cancellation of the tour just in the nick of time.

Now Bieber has announced new dates for next year, scaled back from stadiums to arenas. There’s no more dates at the Meadowlands. It’s now two nights at Madison Square Garden. Also missing is Foxboro Stadium outside Boston. Now it’s TD Arena, The dates are below. No word yet on opening acts, but my guess is there will be at least one everywhere as a separate draw.

Bieber’s album was not a physical hit, but did great with streaming (182k/555K) and neither was his pandemic single with Ariana Grande. But he had one big monotonous radio hit called “Intentions.” Maybe between now and next summer there will be a new album that will fuel ticket sales.

For Real: Mike Tyson to Get in the Ring with Roy Jones Jr in an Exhibition Fight for 8 Rounds on Pay Per View

This is really happening. Mike Tyson and Roy Jones, Jr. are going to have an 8 round fight on Pay Per View on September 12th.

These two old warriors will be part of a three hour extravaganza produced by Tyson’s film company and certain to pull in a lot of money. I’m in, I know that.

According to a press release, the fight will air on multi-media platform, Triller, which has also obtained exclusive streaming rights to the soon-to-be-released, ten-part docuseries featuring behind-the-scenes, pre-fight footage, releasing two episodes per week leading up to the match. The fight, titled “FRONTLINE BATTLE,” is the first event of a series produced under Mike Tyson’s Legends Only League, a sports venture owned by Tyson and Eros Innovations which has partnered with Triller on all future boxing events.

The exhibition fight has been sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission. Producers include: Mike Tyson, Sophie Watts, Johnny Ryan Jr., Azim Spicer, Kiki Tyson, Ryan Kavanaugh and Bobby Sarnevesht.

The show goes on sale August 26th. No word yet on ticket price. And where is Don King? I’m surprised he’s not involved somehow. We miss him!

PS I actually saw Roy Jones fight at Radio City 20 years ago. He won the fight against David Telesco in 12 rounds from three judges. Great night!

See How it All Began: Taylor Swift Vs. Kanye West, A Video History That Began at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards

0

As we approach midnight and the Taylor Swift-Kanye West death cage match, here’s a look back at their feud, the history of enmity that began with Kanye jumping on the stage at the 2009 Video Music Awards. Tonight it will be “Donda” vs. “Folklore” as the two recording artists release new albums head to head. And the winner is Universal Music Group, which has both albums and makes all the money from this once of a lifetime publicity.

Bill and Ted’s Latest Adventure Will Be Video on Demand Beginning September 1st as Theaters Remain Mostly Closed in Major Markets

0

Bill and Ted have had many adventures over the years. But they will “Face the Music” on September 1st in theaters and on streaming video on demand.

The Keanu Reeves-Alex Winter comedy sequel from United Artists has set its plan in place as a result of theaters being mostly closed in major markets.

“Bill & Ted Face the Music” is directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest), from a screenplay by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey) – and produced by Scott Kroopf, Alex Lebovici, and Steve Ponce.

The great Holland Taylor (yay!!!!) and Saturday Night Live’s Beck Bennett are in the cast that includes Kid Cudi, of course.

The VOD part suggests another $20 ticket, but moviegoers are getting used to this. And considering movie tickets are $10, popcorn and all that comes to $20 plus maybe a babysitter, etc. if you have four people social distancing in a living room it all works out!

In the movie Bill and Ted time travel, maybe back to 2016 when we weren’t being held hostage by a mad man, or forward to 2021 when Biden is president and the pandemic is over. Sounds promising!

Taylor Swift Is Dropping a Surprise Album Tonight Going Head to Head (Possibly) with Mortal Enemy Kanye West’s New Release

0

Taylor Swift has just dealt Kanye West a real blow. She’s surprise dropping a new album at the same time his “Donda” is supposed to be coming out. Could she have known under the Universal umbrella that Kanye was shooting for this date? Is it a coincidence or planned? Wow. This is like a death cage match!

I was wondering why Universal dropped the iTunes price for Taylor Swift’s “Lover” album this week. It suddenly shot back into the top 10. Now we know. Taylor is releasing a surprise new album tonight called “Folklore.” It comes with a video for the first single, called “Cardigan,” cinematography by three time Oscar nominee Rodrigo Prieto. Do we need an expensive new sweater on the hottest week of the summer?

Ironically, she couldn’t have planned it, this will knock Kanye West, her mortal enemy, off the headlines. Good work, Taylor!

Taylor has a lot of collaborators on the album including, of course, Jack Antonoff, and Aaron Dessner of the group The National. Their respective statements are below.

Remember: Taylor was planning for four big concerts this summer, mega shows at stadiums. But because of the pandemic she’s been stuck inside, writing and recording. According to Dessner they began in late April and it all went very quickly. It sounds like the National is very involved, too.

Best Idea Yet: Jennifer Hudson’s Aretha Franklin Movie “Respect” to MLK Birthday Weekend 2021

0

Here’s the best idea yet in movie marketing and it might be just a fluke.

Jennifer Hudson’s Aretha Franklin movie, “Respect,” has been moved from late December to January 15th, 2021. In other words, to Martin Luther King’s actual birthday and the start of a three holiday weekend.

This is because of the pandemic, but wow– what serendipity. Aretha sang and marched for Dr. King, who often stayed with the Franklins at Aretha’s father’s invitation.

I’ve been nervous about this movie– for the music but for how the story will play out. But now I feel like this is a good sign, the best, because by chance the film has been forced onto this important and magical date. From what we’ve seen in the trailer, JHud is guaranteed an Oscar nomination already. If director Liesl Tommy has got it right, with a screenplay based on Callie Khouri’s original layout. “Respect” will shape up as a major hit.

How lucky that the closed theaters forced the Academy to move the eligibility date for the Oscars to February 28th, and the broadcast to April 25th. And in the Golden Globes, “Respect” will be going up against “West Side Story” in the comedy/musical category. We have to wait for awards season, but it will be worth it!

BTW if you’re wondering, “Respect” takes Aretha through the 70s and her 1st incredible career with Atlantic Records, Ahmet Ertegun, Jerry Wexler, and Tom Dowd. One day there will be a whole second movie of her career Renaissance with Clive Davis beginning in 1980 and I’m sure it will be called “Freeway of Love.”

See JHud sizzle:

The Empire Strikes Back: Kim Kardashian, Under Siege from Bipolar Husband, Asks for Compassion and Understanding

0

The Empire Strikes Back: Kim Kardashian, here cast as Palpatine, is asking for compassion for her husband, Luke Skywalker, I mean Kanye West, as he self destructs in the lead up to a possible album release on Thursday night. Will she get hold of him? Will someone take the phone from his hand? Is this all being recorded for their TV show? Will there be a sex tape? (Organ music.) Stay tuned…

Kanye’s 99th Nervous Breakdown: Calls Mother-in-Law “Kris Jong Un,” Says Family Tried to Commit Him with 5150 Hold

0

Kanye West‘s 99th nervous breakdown continues apace. Working up to his album release on Friday (maybe, who knows, maybe he’s imagining it), Kanye has continued his Twitter rant marathon. In these deleted tweets from last night he calls his mother in law “Kris Jong Un” and claims his family tried to commit him with a 5150 hold. He also thinks wife Kim Kardashian is having an affair with Meek Mill.

Meantime, the Kardashian PR feed has noticed that the family of avaricious, self-promoters has uniformly “unfollowed” their pal, Scottie Pippin’s estranged wife, Larsa. Is it true? Is this all made up for the new seas on of “Keeping up with the Addams Family”? Who knows? These people would say they tried to abort one of their kids to get ratings.

Kanye remains in Wyoming, which he obviously bought and developed to get away from the Kardashians, because who wouldn’t? With theaters closed, no Broadway or new movies, soap operas in reruns, this is all we’ve got now, kids.
