There’s Only 1 Taylor Swift Song in the iTunes Top 50 Two Weeks After Her Big Release, Plus See Her Perform at the Academy Gala

There’s only one Taylor Swift song in the iTunes top 50.

Two weeks after Taylor dumped four new unreleased songs into the world, only “Patient Zero” remains — at number 4.

The others — “Cleveland,” et al — have all dropped away. Taylor’s only other big chart song remains “I Knew It, I Knew You.”

None of those four songs are still on the Spotify top 50.

Also, her “The Life of a Showgirl: Encore” is fading fast. It’s number 9.

On YouTube, the various “Patient Zero” videos ad up to around 40 million views, which aren’t a lot in that world.

I gather a lot of fans have grown tired of the same old, same old. Taylor’s next album is going to have to be startlingly different. Now that she’s married and settled, it’s enough of the “you dumped me” songs. Time to take on mature subjects.

At the same time, Taylor was a big hit Saturday night at the Motion Academy Museum gala. Here’s a clip from the Academy of Conan O’Brien introducing her.

Vanity Fair — dying on the vine — has taken another turn to capture readers from the right.

They’ve paid for an excerpt from a book that calls Jill Biden “Lady Macbeth” for allegedly Joe’s mental condition.

It should be noted that Joe Biden continues to make appearances, look and sound cogent post-election while Donald Trump has medical mysteries and mental insufficiency that no one investigates.

But Vanity Fair continues to pander to MAGA and conservatives as it has all year since Mark Guiducci became editor in chief. The magazine has no newsstand sales and declining numbers on the web. So they’re looking for customers somewhere.

Old time Vanity Fair subscribers should be turned off by this inept attempt to discredit the Bidens, coming out two weeks before the midterm elections.

That Melania Trump cover story doesn’t seem so far fetched at this point.

PS There’s also a positive profile of Trump chief of staff Susie Wiles on the website. How pathetic.

“Michael” Movie About Michael Jackson — Full of Musical Performances — Ruled a Drama By Ever Mystifying Golden Globes

The Golden Globes have told “Michael” to beat it, as a musical.

Whoever’s in charge these days ruled that the Antoine Fuqua movie could not submit under Comedy/Musical. It’s going under Drama.

“Michael” is basically a movie with a lot of concert centerpieces, and an outstanding musical performance by Jaafar Jackson.

But that’s what the Globes did a few years ago with “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and they’re sticking to their guns.

I would have thought “Michael” belongs in Comedy/Musical, too. It shouldn’t compete with “The Odyssey” or “Dune 3” because it can’t win. At least in proper category it had a chance. But this way, even Jackson has an uphill battle with the likes of Matt Damon, John Malkovich, Robert Pattinson, Ryan Gosling, and so on in the mix.

Who’s running the Globes? As usual there’s a big legal war going on between the owners — Penske Media — and the former Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Penske should win any case, as they bought the Globes fair and square after the HFPA was disgraced over financial and racial issues. Penske’s the only owner that can produce the TV show since they also own Dick Clark Productions and have a contract with CBS.

Now, with “Michael” moving into Drama, that’s where Colman Domingo will go for playing Joseph Jackson in the supporting category. That group is pretty crowded, too — with John Leguizamo, Paul Giamatti, the German Shepherd from “Heart of the Beast,” and Rocky, the AI alien robot from “Project Hail Mary” all in the running. At the Golden Globes, you never know!

Broadway receipts fell by $1.5 million last.

Most shows took slight hits. But “Other Desert Cities” fell by almost $300,000. This happened once customers really saw the price of tickets — $800 for the top seat, for example…and reality sunk in.

The play taking off at the box office is the revival of “A Few Good Men.” Aaron Sorkin should feel good after “The Social Reckoning” has bombed at the box office, his first piece of theater will be a hit all over again. Good seats are just $500 apiece! Can you handle the truth?

Nicest news of the week: Rosie O’Donnell’s two week stint at “The Rocky Horror Musical” was a smash hit. Rosie subbed in for vacationing Rachel Drach, and the box office jumped 29%. Rosie pushed the show back up to $1 million each week she was there.

The Rosie renaissance is real!

Right now you think the most deluded people in the US are Elizabeth Holmes and Billy Evans.

But the winners are really Robert Kennedy Jr. and Cheryl Hines.

He continues to trade on JFK, his late uncle, despite that family hating him.

Hines is an outcast from Hollywood, but going on Fox News to talk about the economics of filmmaking.

They are hilarious. She should really curb her enthusiasm. Her career is gone. It’s left in ashes and tears.

Uh oh.

All you need is a mess.

Remember the movie “Yesterdays” when Himesh Patel played a character who was the only person alive who knew about The Beatles?

So it’s going to be a West End musical — and probably one for Broadway. “Love Actually” director Richard Curtis and his wife Emma Freud are producing it. (The couple married in 2023 after 34 years together and four children.)

Curtis, years ago, adapted an early version by Jack Barth, who got co-screenwriter credit. It was Barth’s idea to begin with.

But I guess Curtis and Freud didn’t bother telling Barth about the musical — or that the Beatles have given permission.

Barth wrote today on Twitter: “I wonder if these arrogant pigs will ever notify me that the story I created is becoming a huge West End musical.”

Ouch! Barth won’t Let it Be, especially after this Long and Winding Road.

Emma Freud’s brother is Matthew, a big deal PR person in London. I guess she didn’t consult him before making this announcement. Their great grandfather was Sigmund Freud, who would have asked her, “How do you feel about that?”

Curtis should know better. He’s been around a long time, having written such acclaimed screenplays as “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and “Notting Hill.

You can’t not like this new outtake from the Stones.

“Who You Callin’ Crazy?” is one of the unreleased tracks from the “Foreign Tongues” album.

An updated “Foreign Tongues” drops November 27th. We’ve already got “Bad Luck Hideaway.” With “Crazy,” the Stones cement the best rock album of 2026. If only they sent press releases or information. I don’t know who’s playing that crazy horn, but we’ll find out. Somehow. (It might be James King.)

Trust me, America is not ready for a 12 minute Jay Z show in the middle of the Super Bowl.

But Jay Z, who is the half time show curator for the NFL, is apparently hiring himself as the main act next February.

Other acts like Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber were sent up the flagpole and shot down.

Jay Z did hire U2 for the NFL Thanksgiving game half time show, which is perfect for them. Bono and pals dodge a bullet because the Super Bowl show is always full of disdain. No one ever wins.

But Jay Z for 12 minutes to straight rap? Even Shawn Carter isn’t that full of himself. He’ll have guest stars galore. One of them will have to be his wife, Beyonce. Even if she steps out for one song — likely “Crazy in Love” — ratings will soar.

At his Yankee Stadium shows this summer, Jay Z featured Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Usher, Nas, Rihanna and many others. Expect the same this time, only with 100 times the hype. The 2027 game will be especially heated anyway, taking place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles — expect week’s build up of Hollywood celebrities.

Matthew McConaughey Is Shilling for Joe Manchin and His Daughter — the One Who Made the Price of Epi Pens Soar — to Vote “Independent”

For some reason, Matthew McConaughey is shilling for Joe Manchin. And his daughter.

McConaughey’s posted a rambling, highly scripted speech about voting Independent and why it’s the future of the country — much better than being a Republican or Democrat.

You have to wade through this filibuster to find out what’s really going on. McConaughey is fronting for something called the Independent Leadership Council, a new 501c3 created by the former West Virginia senator and his daughter, Heather Bresch.

If Bresch’s name is familiar, she was the pharmaceutical executive at Mylan who sent the price of EpiPens soaring from $100 bucks to $600. Her salary zoomed 671% to $18 mlllion.

Bresch lost her job after a public outcry and investigations back in 2016.

Ten years later, she’s got a new gig — pitching donors on a centrist political group.

What does that mean exactly? Joe Manchin is a former Democratic senator. But he was only DINO, aka Democrat in Name Only. He supported Donald Trump fervently, and even now is going to Maine to campaign for the reviled Republican Susan Collins.

McConaughey is from Texas, but is definitely courting a right wing mentality. His success — bestselling books that read like homilies, car commercials, and an occasional movie —  is based on being a homespun good ol’ boy. During an appearance on a 2017 BBC show, McConaughey said that critics of Trump “They don’t have a choice now. He’s our president… It’s time for us to embrace and shake hands with this fact and be constructive with him over the next four years.”

The next four years were chaos that included mass deportations and the pandemic.

He’s never endorsed Trump but McConaughey has floated the idea of entering the political arena himself — which would be just as crazy as Trump’s trajectory. He’s definitely got potential as a movie star to become “The Candidate” or even better, Robert Altman’s empty suit, Hal Philip Walker, from “Nashville.”

Hooking up with the Manchins is only going to infuriate his fans. It’s certainly not the association of a “common man.” What is he getting out all of this? His video comes at a curious time in Texas, when the smart money is on James Talarico, and Trump — with MAGA — desperately tries to back Ken Paxton for the Senate. Independent vote? What is McConaughey suggesting? His state has an “either or” election in front of them.

Today — Tuesday — is the last day of Don Hershman’s art show down at the very hot One Art Space on Warren Street in Tribeca.

Hershman’s paintings are nearly sold out. You can see why from the pictures. He’s turned into a hot commodity in the last couple of years.

It’s no secret that One Art Space is also hot. Last week none other than CNN legend Wolf Blitzer turned up at a book party for former New York Giants nutritionist Heidi Skolnik. NBC correspondent Sam Brock was also among the guests, as were famed artist Hunt Slonem and literary super-agent Esther Newberg.

Skolnik’s “Your GLP-1 Game Plan: What Your Doctor Didn’t Tell You About How to Eat, Move, and Thrive on Weight Loss Medications” has taken off fast considering everyone we know is taking one of these drugs. “Game Plan” is actually a manual for using Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and so on.

 

No one asked Wolf or Sam if they were using them. But they did ask for copies of the book!

Meantime, Don Hershman’s skyrocket to art sales is unusual enough. He’s been a board certified podiatry surgeon in San Francisco for 40 years. But his first love was painting, and now here he is, selling out gallery shows like crazy. You can read about him here, but get down to Warren Street and see if anything is left his time around.
