Marty Erlichman is now in heaven booking future Streisand dates.

Marty died today at age 97. He retired officially last March and I wrote all about him.

Listen, they broke the mold after Marty. He was really one of a kind. I loved sparring with him. He was very funny especially when he was irate.

Don’t cause too much trouble up there, Marty. It’s going to be an adjustment. For all of them, not you.

Deepest condolences to Marty’s family and to Barbra Streisand. He was the only manager she ever had. And he did ok, I think.

Streisand’s statement: “Although Marty lived a long and full life, nothing can prepare you for the reality of losing someone so dear. I truly thought he would live forever. In my eyes, he was simply indestructible—always by my side, through everything. He can never be replaced, and I will be forever grateful for his friendship, loyalty, and unwavering support.”

“To the world, he was a giant of Hollywood; to us, he was a deeply devoted and loving father, husband, grandfather, and rock,” Erlichman’s family wrote in a statement. “We feel his loss deeply but are endlessly proud of the life he lived and the indelible mark he left on the world.”

PS Marty held his cards so close to the vest I can’t find a single video interview with him. If you see one, please send it to showbiz411@gmail.com

Showbiz411 is now in its 13th year of providing breaking and exclusive entertainment news. This is an independent site, unlike the many Hollywood trades that are owned by one company. To continue providing news that takes a fresh look at what's going on in movies, music, theater, etc, advertising is our basis. Reader donations would be greatly appreciated, too. They are just another facet of keeping fact based journalism alive.
