Jackson Kids: No Supervision, Says Source

Filed under: Celebrity | Music // Roger Friedman // March 3rd, 2010 at 12:00 AM UTC

It’s no surprise to some insiders that Michael Jackson’s kids are being investigated by the Los Angeles Department of Family Services.

Remember the YouTube video I showed you a couple months ago? It showed the Jackson kids romping around a luxurious suite at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas on Thanksgiving.

Sources tell me that this latest adventure at Katherine Jackson’s Encino home is no surprise. Mrs. Jackson’s lawyer, Adam Streisand, has issued several denials. But TMZ reported that Jermaine Jackson’s son, 13-year-old Jaafar, ordered a pair of stun guns online. One of the guns may have been used…

Santana, Rob Thomas, Mary J, Prince Set for All-Star Party

Clive Davis‘ annual pre-Grammy shindig is my favorite party of the year. It’s the best of the season, a tie maybe with Vanity Fair’s Oscar party. Everyone in Hollywood wants to be in the Beverly Hilton Hotel ballroom this Saturday night. Not all of them will make it.

Yesterday I spent party of the morning observing while Clive did interviews and pre-press with Harry Connick, Jr. Harry is very funny, and the duo made for a good team as all the shows like “Access Hollywood” and “ET” got a crack at them. What I can tell you exclusively is that…

Michael Jackson’s Kids Spent Christmas With Surrogate Family

Filed under: // Roger Friedman // January 13th, 2010 at 12:00 AM UTC

I can tell you something now that I knew a couple of weeks ago: Michael Jackson’s three kids didn’t spend the holidays with the Jackson family at their Hayvenhurst Rd home in Encino, California.

Even though Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson, has custody of Prince, Paris and “Blanket,” the three kids weren’t with her on Christmas or New Year’s.

Instead, nanny Grace Rwaramba arranged to take the kids for an extended visit with family friends. This is contrary to reported stories that the three were with their aunt, Janet Jackson, in New York. That was a decoy story. It’s amazing how…

Prince: So Hip He Needs Two New Ones

Filed under: // Roger Friedman // June 9th, 2009 at 12:00 AM UTC

Prince was on the prowl again last night, making an unscheduled appearance at the Apollo Theater’s 75th anniversary celebration to toast Patti LaBelle.

But the real buzz on Prince is that his much reported hip problems of the past have now turned into need for a double hip replacement.

Unfortunately, thanks to his practice as a Jehovah’s Witness, Prince still refuses surgery. JW’s don’t believe in blood transfusions.

‘He’s in a lot of pain,’ said a source who was backstage with him last night at the Apollo. ‘He’s popping pain killers and hoping it will all go away.’

But it…

Mariah, Quincy, Cosbys, Jamie Foxx Toast the Apollo

Filed under: // Roger Friedman // June 9th, 2009 at 12:00 AM UTC

The Apollo’s 75th anniversary show Monday night was star-studded to say the least. Bill Cosby and wife Camille got the Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee Award. Jamie Foxx did some stand-up and a couple of good imitations (one especially good one of President Obama). Steve Harvey emceed and told more jokes about how he was restraining himself from using the ‘F’ word in his routine because it was a nice event.

There was music, too: Fantasia, newly svelte and elegant in a jet black short wig with bangs and a white mini dress, did a couple of Aretha Franklin songs…
