The Worst Oscars In Memoriam in History Excluded Ed Asner, But Included Betty White, a TV Star

Share

Every year the Oscar In Memoriam segment is terrible. This year was no exception. Betty White was featured. She was beloved, but she had nothing to do with movies. Ed Asner was excluded. He had a big movie career. from “Daniel” to “Up,” the animated movie hit he voiced.

There were several other disgraceful snubs. The worst after Asner was Robert Downey Sr., director of indie classics like “Putney Swope.” And Bob Saget, a comedian and TV actor, won an Oscar when he was a student.

The gospel group was inappropriate and so was the music. I love gospel but the segment is much too busy to have a solemn thought about any of the people who died. And “Spirit in the Sky”? Really?

An annual travesty.
