Critics who did see “Ali G: Who Iz I?” this week didn’t like it.

Even the ones who gave it a “fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes didn’t like it, but they were kinder in their grading curve.

Right now the comedy stands at 50%, but I’d watch that number. Top critics were much lower.

Deadline.com gave a ‘fresh’ but wondered how Cohen wasn’t murdered during the filming.

The consensus is that “Ali G” is rude and offensive, and not well directed. It has none of the charm of a “Borat” movie.

Amazon Studios is dumping the film this weekend, playing it in a few theaters just for three days, maybe never to be seen again. There is no currently no plan to stream it on Amazon Prime.

Toronto’s Globe and Mail calls it “laugh free.”

Variety: “The film has a few scattered giggles, but it’s dawdling and cumbersome, and far less “relevant” than it thinks.”

The Guardian: “If you liked Sacha Baron Cohen’s Ali G the first time around, you’ll like this less; if you disliked it, you’ll dislike this more; if you suspected it was racist, you’ll be more emboldened to say so.”

I guess the simplest thing to do is wait and see it when it finally hits Prime. Not worth the time to seek out a theater. The number is so low it’s not even being officially listed. I did discover through AI that it’s just 23 screens.
