And just like that, “Girls” is back.
Following the lead of HBO with “Sex and the City,” HBO is reviving the 2010s hit show written by Lena Dunham.
Along with Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet will come Andrew Rannells, all from the original cast.
But it’s unlikely that movie star and Oscar nominee Adam Driver will return. Driver will probably be the Kim Cattrall of this show. Cattrall famous refused to re-create her Samantha character for the “Sex and the City” reboot.
In the end, Cattrall made one cameo — shot on a different set — and did a short voice over.
Driver could do that, too. But he’s made dozens of movies since “Girls” ended, and appeared on Broadway. He and Dunham did not split on an amicable note, which she wrote about her in her memoir.
Ditto Riz Ahmed, the actor whose character knocked Dunham’s Hannah up in the final season. He has a bustling movie career.
Also, not announced: actor-director Alex Karpovsky, who’s made a fortune (which we presume) voicing ads for Gain detergent.
Sadly, there’s no return for Peter Scolari. The beloved actor who played Dunham’s father passed away in 2021.
Who knows? We could see cameos. And the speculation of famous guests will go on until the episodes air. But I wouldn’t bet on Kalshi that anyone of these other people returns.
