Yes, it sucks to get old.

And it really sucks if you’ve been a massive music star for five or six decades and can’t let go.

Such is the case with Mike Love of the Beach Boys, the tremendous singer Art Garfunkel, and pop star Barry Manilow.

It’s also an emergency issue for Gladys Knight.

Today, though, Mike Love is the story. It looks like the 85 year old fell asleep on stage during a show last night. An audience member posted a video that made it look like John Stamos, who plays with the band, gently mocking him and trying to rouse Love’s attention.

Now Stamos has published a fuller picture of what happened, saying Love is facing “serious health issues.”

As for the others: Garfunkel had to postpone a big UK tour because of a respiratory infection. He had some important dates coming up and is clearly disappointed. But at 84, his health comes first.

Manilow stopped in the middle of a show the other night. More cancelled dates followed. He’s been battling lung cancer and just wants to finish his farewell tour.

Gladys Knight, 81, just played two shows despite audiences recording her clear frailty and possible dementia. Her family is frightened for the R&B great, and blame her manager husband for keeping her on the road.

See Stamos’s post below, and beneath that the video of him trying to get Mike Love’s attention.

Also, see the Gladys Knight video below. It’s very disturbing.
