UPDATE: Live Nation UK just posted that they’re promoting the Wembley show.
Rapper Macklemore, coming off his Ed Sheeran debacle, will not give up.
He says he’s booked stadiums in London, Paris, and Dublin to put on “Free Palestine” shows.
He plans to announce US dates, too.
But who will host him here? Live Nation? AEG? Madison Square Garden?
It’s hard to imagine any of them inviting that kind of chaos into their businesses.
In London, Macklemore says he’s booked Wembley Stadium, which is owned and run by New York’s Legends Global. I’ve put in a call to their president, Dan Levy, to see this deal was made.
Macklemore also says he’s reached out to other artists to appear with him at these shows. Stand by for those names, and reactions. I guess we might see actors like Hannah Einbeinder and Javier Bardem on stage. Music acts? Let’s hope it’s not Jack Antonoff.
Being pro-Palestinian has certainly revived Macklemore’s moribund career. He hasn’t had an actual hit since 2011-12. Big question is whether he’ll perform “Same Love,” his hit about same sex marriage, which I don’t think is welcome in Gaza.
