Showbiz is a funny world.
Over the weekend, horror film “Resident Evil” swooped in and did what other recent films could not achieve.
The new release raked in $60 million from Thursday previews through today.
That’s considerably more than both “Practical Magic 2” and “Coyote vs. Acme” have made in their total release time.
If only those two had been more frightening!
Still, “Coyote” has done very well considering it almost never came out. At $54 million, you can’t complain.
On the nostalgia front, the 40th anniversary of the cinematic classic, “Transformers,” brought in $3.1 million. That’s $4.1 million since it was re-rel4eased. The crackling dialogue and cinematography are well chronicled in movie history.
At the lower end of things, “The Dog Stars” made $20,000 in 1,030 theaters. Even actual dogs avoided it,
