One of Rod Stewart’s biggest hit is “Rhythm of My Heart.”

But the rhythm of his heart was obviously blocked by a lifetime of eating and drinking like there’s no tomorrow.

For months, indefatigable Rod, age 81, has been huffing and puffing on stage during his shows. He loves to perform as if he’s 31, but recently looked like he was going to pass out any second.

Now comes news that Rod the Sod has gotten a cardiac stent. He’s cancelling shows for a while. Good idea. Blood and oxygen are now coursing through his body with all new avenues.

I can tell you that Rod will feel a lot better after he recovers. Breathing is pretty important even if you’re not mixing it up with dancers and a rock band while singing “Maggie May.”

Rod’s family must be relieved that he finally had the procedure — which by the way takes a few minutes, and once it’s over they give you a lollipop and send you on your way. Rod will be back on stage soon, you’ll see.

Rod’s social media says: “Following further medical evaluation, Sir Rod Stewart has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure. Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities. On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage. Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates. Information regarding affected performances will be communicated by the respective promoters and venues.”

Showbiz411 is now in its 13th year of providing breaking and exclusive entertainment news. This is an independent site, unlike the many Hollywood trades that are owned by one company. To continue providing news that takes a fresh look at what's going on in movies, music, theater, etc, advertising is our basis. Reader donations would be greatly appreciated, too. They are just another facet of keeping fact based journalism alive.
