The Force Awakens: Trump Era of Cruelty Ends as Democrats Take House and Senate, Celebrities Like Taylor Swift Wisely Read the Room, Went Silent

The Trump era is over.

His reign of cruelty has been defeated at the polls. Women, Blacks, gays have been elected to leadership roles everywhere.

The Senate and the House will now be controlled by Democrats. Donald Trump is a lame duck president whose only power is to veto bills.

But there will now be efforts to defund ICE, restore order, welcome the world back to the United States. The Democrats will try and pull the plug on tariffs and the Iran war, and get prices down to something manageable.

Will it be easy? No. But seeing Texas liberated from the control of the right wing is so rewarding. Kansas and Nebraska are no longer under red revenge.

In 1992, James Carville coined the phrase “It’s the economy, stupid.”

The people in the midwest can’t afford to drive their trucks. Or buy beef. And that’s it. They saw Trump ornamenting the Oval Office with gold, knocking down the White House, defiling the reflecting pool, destroying the Kennedy Center. At the same time, he was playing golf at his own clubs, costing the republic hundreds of millions of dollars, and pretending to be a victim.

Congratulations to the first black woman governor ever, Keisha Lance Bottoms of Georgia. Her late father, classic R&B singer from the 60s, Major Lance, must be singing praises.

One thing that might have helped: since Labor Day celebrities have kept a low profile. Was it a coincidence? There were no big rock star shows that in the past clearly offended bread basket voters who came to resent celebrity interference. In the past two or three decades, it was a different story. But this fall, the message was focusing on the people, and not Hollywood telling them what to do.

A reader has been emailing me about the silence of Taylor Swift, who zipped her lip rather than use her enormous following to demand votes for Democrats. She was smart to let it happen organically. Instead she chose the life of a showgirl. Not to say that Bruce Springsteen wasn’t right to go on tour last spring, and speak truth to power. But even he knew when to step back. We thank him for his service.

To be clear: professional liar Susan Collins is gone. So are Greg Abbott in Texas, Lindsay Graham’s horrible sister, and the whole rogues’ gallery of despicable, self-centered losers.

Showbiz411 is now in its 13th year of providing breaking and exclusive entertainment news. This is an independent site, unlike the many Hollywood trades that are owned by one company. To continue providing news that takes a fresh look at what's going on in movies, music, theater, etc, advertising is our basis. Reader donations would be greatly appreciated, too. They are just another facet of keeping fact based journalism alive.
