Joni Mitchell is a busy new US citizen.

The singer songwriter’s fans know she’s a talented visual artist. Her drawings and paintings have been used as album covers, and a book of them was issued a few years ago.

Now Joni has 23 new paintings coming in a book called “News.”

The work covers a 24 news cycle with slogans, song lyrics, and uncompromising imagery. Her sharp wit skewers power and politics; her voice articulates protest and resistance. A powerful expression of her undimmed creative independence and vision, “NEWS” is a testament to the enduring power of art.

Joni says: “NEWS” is my protest song – a song not for the ears but for the eyes. This is not fake news!”

There’s a regular edition for $65, and a collectible one signed, for $250. Click here.

This woman is amazing. She nearly died after a brain hemorrhage several years ago. Her spirit and recovery are a miracle. (Also, PS Judy Collins’ hit recording of “Both Sides Now” is part of the new Oscar bound movie “Wild Horse Nine.”)

Showbiz411 is now in its 13th year of providing breaking and exclusive entertainment news. This is an independent site, unlike the many Hollywood trades that are owned by one company. To continue providing news that takes a fresh look at what's going on in movies, music, theater, etc, advertising is our basis. Reader donations would be greatly appreciated, too. They are just another facet of keeping fact based journalism alive.
