Ed Sheeran?
He’s going on at 8pm tonight in Philly, the normal time for headliners.
The opening acts — for whom no one bought a ticket — were filler that started at 5:30pm. Most fans don’t arrive at rock shows until a half hour before the main act comes on. I’m sure the Finneas and Aaron Rowe fans will survive their absence
Lincoln Financial Field will welcome around 60,000 people. There are around 7,000 unsold seats. So Ed Sheeran will play to an audience three times the size of Madison Square Garden. The concession and merch areas will be jammed. The fans will sing along to their favorite songs.
Protest is a way of American life. There are videos of scragglers outside Lincoln Field with signs. They will shout. That’s okay. I’ve seen worse going into awards shows in Hollywood, where vocal supporters of various fringe activities make themselves known. It’s all part of life’s pageant.
Below, the Stub Hub seat map. Looks pretty good. Can’t wait to hear reports on the show, and the set list.
