It’s a huge vindication for “Coyote vs. Acme” this morning.
Ketchup Entertainment is reporting a $7 million opening Friday including Thursday previews.
Amazing since this movie was almost not released after Warner Bros. shelved it three years ago.
Dave Green’s Looney Tunes take is a winner, with 95% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, and 94% audience meter. “Coyote” also has a Cinemascore of A.
The prediction is for $15 million total weekend, but I think that’s low balling — look for a higher number.
After this, those cartoon characters are going to be impossible to deal with. (Bug Bunny was reportedly quite a handful on set!)
Sufferin’ succotash!
Meanwhile, Ridley Scott’s “Dog Stars” is pretty much DOA. Total for two days is $3 million on a $100 million cost.
And what about our pal, Spider Man? Slowing down but still headed to $900 million by early in the week. Hasn’t everyone in the world seen this movie by now? I guess not, or maybe two or three times!
