RIP Garth Hudson, 87, Last Remaining Member of Influential, Historic Group, The Band

Share

Garth Hudson has shuffled off this mortal coil. He was 87.

Garth was the last remaining member of The Band. Robbie Robertson died last year, and they were pre-deceased by Levon Helm, Rick Danko, and Richard Manuel.

Featured with Bob Dylan, and also in Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Waltz,” The Band’s hits include “The Weight,” “Up on Cripple Creek,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” “The Shape I’m In,” and so many more. Their album, “Music from Big Pink,” is one of the best of all time.

Hudson’s passing is sad news. An era has ended for good. But their music lives on and on.

Showbiz411 is now in its 13th year of providing breaking and exclusive entertainment news. This is an independent site, unlike the many Hollywood trades that are owned by one company. To continue providing news that takes a fresh look at what's going on in movies, music, theater, etc, advertising is our basis. Reader donations would be greatly appreciated, too. They are just another facet of keeping fact based journalism alive.
Thank you
