Writers Guild Awards TV Nominations Best Comedy, Drama: No Shows from Broadcast TV, All Cable and Streaming Services

Share

As usual the big networks– ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox– have no nominations for Best Comedy or Drama from the Writers Guild. The shows are all from cable and streaming services. The most bizarre snubs continue to be programs from Showtime. What the heck? What is the problem? “Billions” and “Homeland” were spectacular this past season.

In comedy, “Seinfeld” casts a long shadow as both “Veep” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” are nominated. We can’t live without them.

Kudos to Ron Carlivati, who writes “Days of Our Lives.” His team and the one from “General Hospital” were nominated for Daytime Drama. Carlivati is famous for glib dialogue and for reviving dead characters. He always gets it right.
