RIP Inez Foxx, 79, Famed R&B Singer of the Original “Mockingbird”

Share

Inez Foxx has died at the age of 79. She and her brother, Charlie, had a bunch of classic hit in the early 60s including “Mockingbird.” Carly Simon and James Taylor revived it in 1974 with a cover hit of their own.

Inez was married to legendary producer Luther Dixon of Sceptre Records fame (his partner was the famous Florence Greenberg).

They divorced but not before writing a big hit for the Shirelles, “

I Love You 1000 Times.”

God speed, Inez. The history of R&B wouldn’t be the same without you.

Showbiz411 is now in its 13th year of providing breaking and exclusive entertainment news. This is an independent site, unlike the many Hollywood trades that are owned by one company. To continue providing news that takes a fresh look at what's going on in movies, music, theater, etc, advertising is our basis. Reader donations would be greatly appreciated, too. They are just another facet of keeping fact based journalism alive.
Thank you
