Last night’s “Saturday Night Live at Home” finished a shortened season with some subversive and off the wall material. Kristen Wiig hosted, she was sort of brilliant. BoyzIIMen performed, which was notable since they’re a “legacy” group and not contemporary. “SNL” musical acts are generally younger. Good for them. Tina Fey also showed up during Weekend Update.

All the pieces are taped, obviously, so credit to the editors, who did a superb job. The whole show had an edge. Loved Cecily Strong’s Jeannine Pirro. The cold open was also excellent. But the best piece was “Let Kids Drink,” which was so Soupy Sales-ish that he must have been chortling in heaven. It was incredibly funny, not PC, and completely off the wall. Loved it.

Showbiz411 is now in its 13th year of providing breaking and exclusive entertainment news. This is an independent site, unlike the many Hollywood trades that are owned by one company. To continue providing news that takes a fresh look at what's going on in movies, music, theater, etc, advertising is our basis. Reader donations would be greatly appreciated, too.
