Eddie Murphy Wins First Emmy Award Ever, for Hosting “SNL,” Other Winners: Ru Paul as Best Host of a Reality Show, Maya Rudolph for “SNL” as Kamala Harris, Cherry Jones for “Succession”

Eddie Murphy won his first Emmy Award ever tonight, for guest hosting “Saturday Night Live” last season. Eddie was a regular on the show 30 years ago and never guest hosted until this past spring. The award is Male Guest Star, Comedy.

Maya Rudolph won Female Guest Star, Comedy, also for “SNL,” also her alma mater. She played Senator Kamala Harris.

Ron Cephas Jones won Male Guest Star, Drama, for “This is Us,” playing Sterling K. Brown’s father.

Cherry Jones won Female Guest star, Drama, for “Succession.” Cherry could win an Oscar this year for Supporting Actress in Woody Allen’s “A Rainy Day in New York,” hitting theaters next month.

The awards given out tonight are the fourth night of Creative Arts Emmys. The main show is Sunday night, tomorrow, at 8pm.

Another big winner tonight is RuPaul for hosting “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program.
