American Film Institute Includes “Wonder Woman” in Top 10 Films of Year– Will Oscars?

Share

The American Film Institute surprised everyone today by including Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman” in their top 10 of the year. Will the Oscars follow suit? I don’t think so, but you never know. Missing from the AFI list are “The Darkest Hour” and “Phantom Thread,” one of which will most certainly take the place of “Wonder Woman” at the big show. The rest of their choices are pretty much as the year has shaken out everywhere.

On the TV side I am really happy to see “Insecure.” I adore Issa Rae’s show. As much as I miss seeing “Veep” on the list, “Insecure” is the right move. And kudos to the NBC publicists. They’ve got “This Is Us” and “The Good Place” on the list– the only broadcast TV shows.

Bob Gazzale and pals at AFI did an excellent job.
